Tennessee Titans: What to know about the NFL team
The Tennessee Titans are an NFL team that is part of the AFC South, along with the Houston Texans, Indianapolis Colts, and Jacksonville Jaguars. In the team's early days, they were known as the Houston Oilers. The Titans have been based in Tennessee since 1997 and have been playing at their home stadium, Nissan Stadium, since 1999.
The 1999-2000 season was one of the most historic for the Titans. During the playoffs, a moment now known as the "Music City Miracle" occurred during the Titans' matchup with the Buffalo Bills. In the game, with the Titans down by one, they scored a 75-yard touchdown off a kickoff return, winning the game.
This season was also the closest the Titans have gotten to a Super Bowl win. Super Bowl XXXIV was played in 2000 and was the only time the team has made an appearance in the coveted game. Ultimately, the Los Angeles Rams secured the win with a 23-16 victory over the Titans.
The Nashville-based team has been coached by Brian Callahan since January 2024.
