The Chicagoan brought a touch of the Midwest to the Vatican, marking the beginning of a new chapter for the Catholic Church and one of the most unexpected developments of the year.

Changes also abounded in the political realm. Trump made history by becoming the second chief executive to hold two non-consecutive terms with his return to the White House Jan. 20 and changed the nation's trajectory with a flurry of executive actions on day one and beyond.

As ӣ��Ƶ contributor David Webb mentioned in the special, one key history-altering development rose under the Trump administration in June, when U.S. forces attacked three nuclear sites in Iran under the code name "Operation Midnight Hammer."

"[It] absolutely set Iran's nuclear program back by years," Webb said. The incident preceded a series of other foreign policy developments — a ceasefire reached between Israel and Hamas, pushes for the Russia-Ukraine war to end and strikes against alleged Venezuelan drug boats, among others.

Culture, politics and entertainment melded at times. FOX Business' Cheryl Casone pointed to Sydney Sweeney's infamous American Eagle jeans ad, which riled progressives for allegedly carrying racially charged implications with its wordplay on "jeans" and "genes."

"Sydney Sweeney made jeans great again," Casone said.

The so-called "Long Island Lolita's" shocking crime captivated Americans in the early nineties.

Fox Nation's "Who Can Forget? 1992" explored 10 of the most memorable moments from the year 1992, including Amy Fisher's famous case.

"This one stopped America. … America couldn't get enough," said comedian Michael Loftus, recalling the near-deadly love triangle that made national headlines.

Fisher was sent to prison for seven years for shooting Mary Jo Buttafuoco, the wife of her then-lover, Joey Buttafuoco, who would also serve time for statutory rape for his relationship with the teen.

Dubbed the "Long Island Lolita," Fisher first met Buttafuoco when her father brought his car into the 35-year-old's auto shop. She was 16 at the time.

"Over the next two years, they developed this unseemly romance," FOX Business' Gerri Willis said during the Fox Nation show.

"Amy even admits later that she dinged up the car a few times just to go see her boyfriend."

By 1992, Fisher had grown jealous of Buttafuoco's wife, Mary Jo, and took it upon herself to eliminate her.

Fisher went to Buttafuoco's home, pretending to be her sister, and shot Mary Jo in the head in broad daylight.

Miraculously, Mary Jo survived, but she still has the bullet in her head.

Amy Fisher was arrested and charged with attempted murder. She eventually pleaded out to first-degree assault.

"The whole thing was just unseemly, and here, like America, is like celebrating it and couldn't get enough," Loftus added during the Fox Nation special.

There were numerous made-for-TV movies produced about the scandalous love affair. One film even starred actress Drew Barrymore.

After serving seven years, Fisher was released and used her infamy to enter the world of adult entertainment.

Since the scandal, Fisher has made reappearances in the spotlight. In 2007, her then-husband Lou Bellera leaked a private sex tape which sold thousands of copies.

Fox Nation's 'Who Can Forget 1986?' relives Chernobyl nuclear disaster

At 1:23 am on April 26, 1986, the Chernobyl Nuclear Power Plant - located in the Soviet Republic of Ukraine and considered to have been the pride of the Soviet Union - began what was supposed to be a routine safety test.

What happened in the next 36 seconds would provide a haunting view of the future.

"An entire city basically went extinct overnight," said Fox Nation's Tyrus, in the new ‘Who Can Forget 1986?’ episode.

The cooling system in one of the plant’s four reactors failed, resulting in two explosions --- just two seconds apart. The outcome was considered tantamount to a nuclear earthquake, and the equivalent of 500 Hiroshima bombs.

"There were actually two fires in one reactor – the second fire blew off the roof of the reactor, and that's the one which really led to the full meltdown," said FOX Business' David Asman in the episode.

18,000 people had been hospitalized in the immediate aftermath. But the clean-up was even deadlier than the initial blasts.

"In the two weeks following this disaster, more radiation escaped from this plant into the atmosphere both the atomic explosions over Hiroshima and Nagasaki," said Fox Nation's Tom Shillue.

"Nearby residents said that they had a metallic taste in their mouth," he continued. "That was the beginnings of radiation sickness."

"By the time you begin getting severe headaches and vomiting…it's too late," Asman said, describing some early signs of radiation poisoning among the thousands who suffered in the aftermath.

10 INTERESTING FACTS ABOUT THE CHERNOBYL NUCLEAR DISASTER

Many suggest that Chernobyl wasn't just a tragedy, but a scandal.

In the immediate aftermath of Chernobyl's reactor's meltdown, the Soviet authorities largely kept their own citizens in the dark and did not attempt to alert neighboring countries.

"The Russians made a brief 20-second announcement telling their citizens and the world that there was an accident at Chernobyl," said Shillue. "That's all," he stressed.

"The extent of the radiation was first noticed by countries outside of the Soviet Union that were being affected by it," added Asman. "It wasn't until weeks or months or even years later that we knew the extent of the damage."

On April 28, 1986, the cover-up began falling apart when Swedish air monitors detected large amounts of radiation in the atmosphere that seemed to have originated in the USSR. When pressed for an answer to the radiation, the Soviets admitted that an accident had killed two people at Chernobyl.

But the full story of what happened would not come out until years later. To this day, the death toll is unknown.

"If you want to find one of the perfect examples of how a communist government keeps things under wrap, look at that Chernobyl accident," said Dr. Manny Alvarez, ӣ��Ƶ Senior Health Editor.

There's no debating Apple's status as a technological powerhouse. But almost 40 years ago, it wasn't the household name it is today — until a Super Bowl XVIII ad changed the game.

The commercial, a takeoff of George Orwell's dystopian social science fiction novel "1984," was heralded as a masterpiece. To this day, it is listed among the greatest commercials of all time.

"This Apple ad was like nothing we'd ever seen before," said FOX Business' Gerri Willis. "It was like watching a movie."

Famous for introducing the masses to the Apple McIntosh personal computer, the ad was set in a "totalitarian-looking world," according to "Fox & Friends" co-host Steve Doocy, who described it as featuring people "marching like drones."

"Apple was able to slay Big Brother and bring a future that we know today - where their screens are in every home, every pocket," said Fox Nation's Tom Shillue.

While George Orwell may have described a war in his classic novel, the only war Americans may have cared about in 1984 was the "Burger War."

"Where's the beef?"

"McDonald's and Burger King – that was the big war," said comedian Michael Loftus. "And then Wendy's comes in."

Wendy's, the international fast-food restaurant chain and third largest hamburger-specific fast-food chain (behind the aforementioned McDonald's and Burger King), came to play with what became the iconic catchphrase, "Where's the beef?"

As the Fox Nation episode explores, the phrase seeped into the zeitgeist like no other with everyone – news anchors, actors, and even politicians – including it in their vernacular.

Character actress Clara Peller, who at age 82 starred in the iconic commercial and first muttered those three popular words, "became one of the most famous cultural icons in America," as described by Doocy.

This episode of "Who Can Forget?" points to the 1980s as a time when America had more of a reverence for the elderly, lending to Peller's instant fame.

In a spectacular fall from grace, the former governor went from winning an Emmy Award for his COVID press conferences to revelations that he undercounted the number of nursing home deaths in his state, issued orders that contributed to the spread of the disease, and allegedly sexually harassed former members of his staff.

On the other side of the globe, the world was united when the cargo ship Ever Given blocked the Suez Canal.

Every family has unique Christmas traditions that are passed down from one generation to the next. Some, though, are especially hard to forget.

Fox Nation strolls down memory lane this holiday season with a new edition of "Who Can Forget?," presenting the top 10 traditions that make the season festive with ӣ��Ƶ favorites including Tom Shillue and Janice Dean.

Some of these traditions include, but are certainly not limited to: Fruit cake — otherwise known as the gift you pretend you went out of your way and beat traffic for, but it was really just another re-gift from a cousin you see maybe twice a year --- lights, caroling, and the high-demand Star Wars toys and Cabbage Patch Kids dolls that marked the 70s and 80s.

"I remember my mom telling me that my father had to wait in line for hours and hours and hours," Dean recalled, reflecting on her childhood excitement over the Cabbage Patch Kids doll.

But that doll wasn't the only contender for the hearts of children.

Following the success of the 1979 blockbuster film, ‘Star Wars’ no doubt produced a fan-favorite toy of the year. "This is going to be the only toy," comedian Jimmy Failla said, recalling the intense demand for the product that sent parents into a frenzy.

And it was certainly more covetable than, well, fruit cake:

"Fruit Cake goes back centuries," said Shillue in the special episode edition. "…tastes like something that didn't have refrigeration," the comedian quipped.

While the special is sure to invoke nostalgia for simpler times, it also underscores a shift in our political climate.

"There is no way a Charlie Brown special can be made today without the Department of Justice policing a school board meeting" Failla jested, noting how Christmas traditions demonstrated in film and television have changed over the decades.
