Nancy Mace accuses Ilhan Omar of 'foreign allegiance' amid push to ban foreign-born lawmakers

Rep. Nancy Mace, R-S.C., is pushing forward with her effort to ban foreign-born individuals from serving in Congress and the federal judiciary.

Appearing on "Saturday in America," Mace defended her newly introduced constitutional amendment and took aim at lawmakers like Rep. Ilhan Omar, D-Minn.

"If the president has to be natural-born, so too should members of Congress, so too should our judges. That's what my legislation was about," Mace told ӣ��Ƶ.

Mace's joint resolution would require members of the House, Senate, federal judiciary and other Senate-confirmed appointees to be natural-born citizens.

She accused foreign-born lawmakers, specifically naming Omar, of harboring loyalties to other nations and said she would support retroactively removing naturalized citizens from Congress.

"We don't have to look any further than Ilhan Omar or that guy, I can't say his last name, Shri. These are people who've pledged allegiance to foreign countries," Mace said, referencing Rep. Shri Thanedar, D-Mich.

"They are influenced, I believe, by their foreign allegiance to other countries, and we want to make sure that America is run by American patriots."

When directly asked whether the legislation would apply to sitting lawmakers, Mace said she would "be fine" making the proposal retroactive and that it should "apply to those individuals who should not be serving in Congress," in addition to affecting future election cycles.

Her proposal has the potential to impact several sitting members of Congress on both sides of the political aisle. In a post on X, Mace singled out three individuals.

"Ilhan Omar. Shri Thanedar. Pramila Jayapal. All born in foreign countries, none were citizens by birth. All sitting in the United States Congress. All making clear every single day their loyalty is not to America," Mace wrote.

"For too long we have allowed foreign-born members to hold seats in this government while making clear they are America last, not America first. We see it every day. This constitutional amendment will put an end to it," Mace's post concluded.

Omar appeared unbothered when asked about Mace's proposal.

"Good luck to her," Omar told ӣ��Ƶ Digital.

Jayapal condemned the proposal in a statement, calling it "xenophobic" and "narrow-minded."

"Instead of working to help the American people, as so many cannot keep the lights on, keep food on the table, or pay their rent, Nancy Mace is instead introducing racist legislation that denies the very history of a country that has been proudly shaped by immigrants," Jayapal said.

"This is also insulting to the hundreds of thousands of constituents who elected naturalized citizens into office," she said.

The proposal would require a two-thirds vote in both chambers of Congress before ratification by three-fourths of U.S. states. Amendments can also be proposed through a constitutional convention requested by two-thirds of state legislatures, though that method has never been used successfully.

'Pawn Stars' icon Rick Harrison says Trump tax policies change everything for small businesses

"Pawn Stars" personality Rick Harrison told ӣ��Ƶ that workers at his Las Vegas businesses are seeing "astronomical" boosts to their tax returns thanks to President Donald Trump’s small business tax policies.

Appearing on "Saturday in America," Harrison told ӣ��Ƶ host Kayleigh McEnany that policies like tax-free overtime and equipment write-offs have injected a major boost into Nevada’s economy.

"I’ve had at least 10 employees tell me that their tax return was kind of, you know, they considered it astronomical. It was, like, twice what it normally is, and it just helps out," Harrison said on ӣ��Ƶ.

Harrison, famous for running the Gold & Silver Pawn Shop featured on the hit television series "Pawn Stars," also owns a restaurant and bar in Las Vegas, employing about 80 workers overall.

He noted that things like full equipment depreciation, tax-free overtime and the up to $25,000 exemption on tips have increased employee take-home pay while incentivizing business owners to ramp up spending.

He stressed the impact of Trump's "No Tax on Tips" policy, describing it as a game-changer for Sin City's service workers.

"There's no tax on the first $25,000 in tips, which is really, really huge," Harrison said. "There is a lot of single moms and things like that that are service workers, and that just — it changes everything — the no tax on tips, especially in Nevada."

The reality star spoke on May 4 at a small business summit at the White House and noted the difference between the Trump and Biden administrations.

"The last guy in office, all we heard was that we were the evil people, we were the bad people, everything else like that, we don't pay our fair share," Harrison said.

It comes as Las Vegas undergoes a shift of its own amid declining tourism.

Despite hardships hitting the popular destination, Harrison previously told ӣ��Ƶ Digital his store experienced record-breaking months in January and February.

Vice President JD Vance predicted federal investigators will uncover criminal wrongdoing tied to alleged taxpayer-funded welfare fraud in states including California.

Vance told ӣ��Ƶ' Kayleigh McEnany the administration’s anti-fraud task force is looking into whether government officials enabled the alleged scams. He warned that anyone who covered up the abuse "ought to go to prison."

"I guarantee there's [going to] be some criminal wrongdoing that we're [going to] find, because there's so much wrongdoing, somebody had to know what they were doing," Vance said in an exclusive interview on "Saturday in America."

Vance was named chair of an anti-fraud task force focused on rooting out alleged fraud in states including California and Minnesota. On Wednesday, the vice president, alongside Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services Administrator Dr. Mehmet Oz, announced the administration would defer $1.3 billion in federal Medicaid funding to California due to oversight concerns.

Vance said the federal government has shut down fraudulent hospice centers and issued 22 subpoenas tied to an alleged fraud ring in Minneapolis. The task force also announced a six-month freeze on new Medicare enrollments for hospice and home care providers.

Now, he says, state officials who knew about fraud and failed to act should face consequences.

"When I hear about a report that says to the governor, 'Here's all this fraud,' and he doesn't do anything about it, I ask myself, 'Was anybody engaged in criminal wrongdoing? Was anybody in his office engaged in criminal wrongdoing?'" Vance said.

A spokesperson for Gov. Gavin Newsom’s office fired back at Vance’s comments, telling ӣ��Ƶ Digital that California has long been working to root out fraud.

"Tackling fraud is nothing new to California – which is why Governor Newsom implemented a moratorium on all new hospice provider licenses back in 2022, to root out fraud while preventing bad actors from entering the system. We’re glad to see the Trump administration follow California’s lead on this after weeks of us calling for them to do the same," a spokesperson for the governor said.

"California welcomes federal partnership in fraud prevention. If the Trump administration wants to focus on internal criminal wrongdoing, they don’t need to look very far – pardoning criminal cronies and letting bad actors skate has been a flagship of the president’s administration, so long as these individuals donate or vote for him," the spokesperson added.

Hero principal takes a bullet to stop alleged planned school massacre

An Oklahoma principal credited with stopping a school shooting described his split-second decision to confront the suspect during an interview Saturday on ӣ��Ƶ.

Principal Kirk Moore joined "Saturday in America" to discuss the April 7 attack at Pauls Valley High School, where a 20-year-old former student allegedly entered the building armed with two semiautomatic handguns. Investigators said the suspect told them he planned a mass shooting at the school.

"It's a gut reaction to protect," Moore told ӣ��Ƶ host Kayleigh McEnany, reflecting on his 37 years in education. "All the training that you go through, you can't prepare for the second, but it just seems like when it does happen, things fall into place."

The situation escalated when the alleged gunman pointed his weapon at a student. In what Moore called a "blessing," the weapon malfunctioned. Moore tackled the suspect as he then began firing into the floor.

"The bullets were ricocheting," Moore recalled, explaining why colleagues initially couldn’t intervene.

Coach Mark Green told McEnany there is "absolutely" no doubt Moore’s actions saved lives.

"He did what was needed in that moment, and that was brave beyond measure," Green said.

Students later named their principal prom king to honor his actions. Moore described being touched by the moment, saying it was "very sweet of the kids."

Court records show the suspect, Victor Hawkins, is charged with multiple counts, including unlawful carry, pointing a gun and shooting with intent to kill. He pleaded not guilty. A preliminary hearing is scheduled for May 8.

Meta vows to 'aggressively' fight after landmark verdicts find tech giant liable for addicting kids

A top Meta lawyer says the company will "aggressively" pursue appeals after two juries found it liable for hundreds of millions of dollars in damages.

Juries in California and New Mexico recently found Meta liable for designing addictive platforms and violating consumer protection laws. Meta plans to appeal the rulings.

"We disagree with these verdicts, respectfully," C.J. Mahoney, Meta's chief legal officer, said on "Saturday in America."

"We think that they're vulnerable on appeal, and we're going to pursue those appeals aggressively," he added.

On Wednesday, a Los Angeles jury found both Meta and Google liable for designing their products to make young people addicted. Jurors awarded the plaintiff $6 million after a nine-day trial. The plaintiff, known as KGM, testified that she became addicted to social media as a child and that it worsened her mental health struggles.

Mahoney said Meta should not be blamed for the youth mental health crisis.

"We do not believe that our platform is responsible for the teen mental health crisis in this country," he said.

"It's not [going to] be the payday that the plaintiff's lawyers would like it to be," Mahoney added.

"Trying to pin all of this on one social media company or even the tech industry, I think, simplifies the problem in a way that isn't helpful," he added.

Mark Lanier, the plaintiff’s lead attorney, called the verdict a major victory.

Lanier noted that while it’s fine for social media companies to want to grow their user base, it cannot come at the "expense of our children."

The California verdict came only days after a jury in New Mexico also found Meta liable for harming children’s mental health and jeopardizing their safety. Meta must pay $375 million in damages.

Platforms TikTok and Snap had been defendants in the California trial but settled before the case went to a jury.

Nick Shirley says doxxers are hampering his investigations, has concerns about his own security

Independent journalist Nick Shirley claimed he can no longer investigate in major cities without a professional security detail amid escalating threats and doxxing.

Shirley gained attention for exposing what he says was fraud in Minnesota. He has since shifted his focus to California but described the work as becoming more dangerous.

"I'll go to a city, I'll go be out filming, someone will take a photo. Some activists, some left-wing activists will then take a photo, put me in a Reddit group chat," Shirley said on "Saturday in America."

Shirley said activists are spreading his location to disrupt his videos and inquiries into fraud. He recalled that in Baltimore and in California, critics shared his location with messages like, "Run Nick Shirley out" and "If you see Nick Shirley, it’s on site."

A former jihadist turned counterterrorism operative warns that a lethal ideology is turning American teenagers into ISIS-inspired "superheroes."

Mubin Shaikh was radicalized at age 20 but was later deradicalized and became a counterterrorism operative in Canada. After the recent terror attack in New York City, he explained the predatory nature of extremist recruiters.

"It's like drug dealing. You give them something that they're [going to] get high off of. A kid who’s looking for a sense of meaning, belonging, purpose, identity," Shaikh said on "Saturday in America."

"He’s a zero in real life, and he goes online, and suddenly he’s Abu Jihad, a superhero. He’s from zero to hero overnight."

On March 7, two teenagers allegedly attempted to use improvised explosive devices at a demonstration outside Mayor Zohran Mamdani’s home, Gracie Mansion.

Eighteen-year-old Emir Balat and 19-year-old Ibrahim Kayumi traveled from Pennsylvania to Manhattan to hurl explosive devices into a crowd, according to the Justice Department.

The incident is being investigated as "ISIS-inspired terrorism" after one of the suspects reportedly wrote and signed a pledge of allegiance to the Islamic State, according to federal prosecutors.

Shaikh explained that ideology combined with grievances is what stirs young people to act. He described purpose and identity as a product being sold by jihadist recruiters.

"They don't have an ideology that tells them, ‘Hey, these attacks are occurring because you're Muslim. This is the reason why. And they hate you because of your identity and your religion. And that's why you got to lash out and attack them back,’" he said.

"They had been watching all these jihadi videos online of these guys training. And, so, now it's life imitating art because now you're seeing those videos, now I want to replicate those videos," he added.

According to New York prosecutors, Balat told investigators he wanted to carry out an attack "bigger" than the 2013 Boston Marathon bombing, which resulted in the deaths of three people and hundreds of injuries. Both suspects face up to life in prison.

Fetterman condemns Democrats for refusing to put 'country over party' on Iran strikes

Sen. John Fetterman, D-Pa., accused fellow Democrats of putting party over country in their opposition to President Donald Trump’s strikes against the Iranian regime during an interview Saturday on ӣ��Ƶ.

He broke with members of his own party Wednesday as he defended the operation as necessary to prevent Tehran from acquiring a nuclear weapon.

"I don't know why we can't just be honest," Fetterman told "Saturday in America."

"The last two professional candidates for the Democratic Party all agreed that we can never allow Iran to acquire nuclear bombs, and that's made that possible now. I think we can say, 'Hey, that's a great thing. That makes the world more safe, more secure and holds Iran accountable.'"

Minnesota lawmaker expresses concern after reviewing voter rolls, finding 3,000 people missing information

A Minnesota state representative is questioning the integrity of voter roll data in the state’s most populous county, setting off a dispute over access to election records.

"Why is there such an effort to block us or any election integrity group to see this information?" state Rep. Pam Altendorf said Saturday.

"If they're clean, that's great. And if not, if [Minnesota Secretary of State] Steve Simon is unable or unwilling to clean our voter rolls, then we absolutely have to get federal help because this is disenfranchising every legal voter in Minnesota."

Altendorf said the dispute stems from her attempt to obtain active voter roll data from multiple Minnesota counties. She submitted data requests to four counties after reviewing state statutes and consulting with election integrity groups, arguing that as vice chair of the Minnesota House Elections Committee, she has the authority to access the information.

According to Altendorf, Minnesota's secretary of state directed counties not to provide her with the information. Three counties declined to comply with her request, while Hennepin County — the state’s largest county by population — provided the data.

After reviewing the Hennepin County records, Altendorf said she identified nearly 3,000 active voter entries missing key identifying information, such as birthdates, names and addresses, as well as what she described as potential duplicate records.

Though she did not provide specific examples, she also said she found voters listed as over 100 years old.

However, according to Alpha News, 1900 was used as a placeholder birth year for voters who registered before 1983 since they were not required to provide their date of birth.

A spokesperson for Hennepin County told the outlet that they administer elections in accordance with state law and guidance from the secretary of state's office.

The spokesperson also said that "address verification is a routine reason a voter record may be flagged as challenged, ‘including when a registration confirmation postcard is returned as undeliverable.’"

Altendorf began pursuing the data after learning that the Department of Justice had sought voter roll information from states across the country as part of broader election integrity efforts, which she said Minnesota declined to provide due to privacy concerns.

She then reviewed state statutes and worked with election integrity groups, including Minnesota Voters Alliance, before determining she had the authority to request the data herself.

Altendorf said Simon is "actively working to deny" her, as a sitting member of the House Elections Committee, the ability to access voter roll information to determine whether the records are accurate.

The Minnesota Secretary of State’s Office did not immediately respond to a request for comment.

Massachusetts auditor takes transparency fight to high court after alleged $12M fraud uncovered

A Democratic state auditor is taking Massachusetts legislative leaders, including members of her own party, to court after uncovering nearly $12 million in alleged fraud in public assistance programs, seeking to enforce a voter-approved audit law.

"What are they hiding? If there's nothing to hide, open up the doors, let the sun shine in. Let's do this audit," Massachusetts State Auditor Diana DiZoglio said on "Saturday in America."

DiZoglio, a Democrat and former member of both the Massachusetts House and Senate, is filing a complaint with the Massachusetts Supreme Judicial Court to enforce a 2024 ballot measure that authorized her office to audit the legislature. The measure passed with 72% support.

The legal action follows a report from the Massachusetts State Auditor's Office identifying nearly $12 million in alleged fraud in fiscal year 2025 alone across several public assistance programs.

DiZoglio notified legislative leaders earlier this year of her intent to conduct a performance audit but said House and Senate leaders refused to provide the necessary documents. She added that the state attorney general declined to intervene.

"This is something that 72% of voters came out to support, crossing party lines," she said.

"You had progressive Democrats joining together with conservative Republicans. And essentially saying that they want this audit to get done."

According to the auditor, Massachusetts is the only state in the nation where the legislature, governor’s office and court system exempt themselves from the state’s public records law.

She argues the newly approved audit authority would bring long-sought transparency to taxpayer-funded records, including financial receipts and state contracts.

"This is about transparency and accountability," DiZoglio added.

"This is not about whether you support the right or the left. This is coming together and getting access to documents that should be a matter of public record."

DiZoglio emphasized that rooting out fraud is essential to protecting public assistance programs for those who genuinely need them. She shared her own background, saying she was born to a 17-year-old single mother who relied on programs such as WIC before becoming a nurse and getting back on her feet.

"A lot of people rely on these programs," she said. "But folks who are committing fraud need to be held accountable. We need to root out that waste, fraud and abuse so that these systems are working as they should and people truly in need get these services."

ӣ��Ƶ Digital reached out to the Massachusetts attorney general’s office for comment but did not immediately receive a response.

However, according to GBH News, the attorney general claims DiZoglio lacks the authority to file the lawsuit.

"This is another ploy to sidestep the required approval of my office and will bring her no closer to auditing the Legislature," she said in a statement, per the outlet.

"This filing is not about enforcing the law. In order to enforce the law, she would answer my office’s straightforward questions, including how privileges given to the Legislature in our state constitution nearly 250 years ago impact her authority to audit the Legislature."

DiZoglio said she hopes the state’s highest court will ultimately side with voters.

"The Constitution is there to protect the people, not the politicians," she said.

Sen. John Fetterman, D-Pa., blasted what he called "rot" within the Democratic Party, citing what he described as its growing anti-Israel wing.

The Pennsylvania Democrat was responding to comments from Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, D-N.Y., suggesting the United States should consider withholding aid to Israel.

Ocasio-Cortez said the United States' "unconditional" support for Israel helped facilitate a "genocide" in Gaza, a characterization Fetterman rejected.

"There was never any genocide in Gaza, absolutely, and there shouldn't ever be any conditions for aid for Israel, because they were in an existential war," he said on "Saturday in America."

Fetterman also questioned why Ocasio-Cortez hasn’t criticized Iran as sharply as she has Israel. As of Jan. 25, the Human Rights Activists News Agency (HRANA) reported more than 5,800 people had been killed during the Iranian government’s crackdown on anti-regime protests.

A Minnesota Department of Human Services (DHS) whistleblower said she has been raising red flags about fraud in the state since 2019, but has faced only unyielding retaliation in response, calling Gov. Tim Walz's assertion that he was unaware of the problem "absolutely false."

Faye Bernstein, who has worked for Minnesota's DHS for two decades in contract management and compliance, said she was subjected to a "smear campaign" for trying to make leadership aware of illegal contracting practices. She said she was called "racist" and that her work responsibilities were diminished.

Rather than receiving thanks for speaking out about irregularities within the contracting process, Bernstein wrote in a letter obtained exclusively by "Saturday in America" that the "nearly unbearable retaliation" she faced also included being "trespassed from all DHS-owned or leased property" and investigated "at a great cost to the state."

"It's been sometimes just downright embarrassing to go on and on about this. So to say that leadership was not aware, or the governor was not aware is — I can tell you that is absolutely false."

Bernstein said she identified as a Democrat and had only voted for Democrats, but that the fraud in Minnesota was not being invented by Republicans, pushing back on Walz's description of the allegations as "make-believe."

"I see this every day... and it is not make-believe. And as far as my being a Democrat, right now, we have to have a governor who is willing to tackle this. And it doesn't matter if they are Republican or a Democrat."

A former homicide detective is raising questions about the amount of time investigators believe suspects spent inside the home of missing Arizona woman Nancy Guthrie.

Investigators are examining a roughly 41-minute window between when the home’s doorbell camera disconnected and when Guthrie’s pacemaker app later stopped communicating with her phone.

The Pima County Sheriff’s Department released a timeline showing the doorbell camera disconnected at 1:47 a.m., with motion detected at 2:12 a.m. and the pacemaker disconnected at 2:28 a.m.

Officials clarified that the surveillance system only detected motion and did not record video, leaving open the possibility that an animal outside the home triggered the software.

Report alleging top Biden officials raised concerns over autopen resurfaces after Trump terminates documents

ӣ��Ƶ contributor Marc Thiessen appeared on ӣ��Ƶ' "Saturday in America" with host Kayleigh McEnany this weekend, where the two discussed a September report from Axios alleging that top Biden administration officials questioned and criticized the way the former president’s team handled pardons and made use of an autopen in the waning days of his White House term.

The Sept. 6 report has resurfaced after President Donald Trump announced on Friday that he will be terminating all documents allegedly signed by former President Joe Biden via autopen.

While McEnany acknowledged that autopen use is "par for the course" in the White House and that "every president does it," she argued that the Biden administration’s use of the tool was unusual, pointing to the Axios report as evidence.

Thiessen pointed out that there was a ruling by the Office of Legal Counsel which deemed the use of autopen to be legal as long as the president intended to use it, and shared a story that revealed the great lengths Bush went to in order to avoid using the tool.

"Bush didn't want to have any doubts about things. So I remember once there was a continuing resolution to keep the government open, and he was at the APEC summit out in Asia, and they actually took an aide and flew the bill out to Asia so that he could physically sign the bill," he recalled. "So, you know, that's how seriously [Bush] took this."

And to have pardons signed by autopen when the people running the autopen weren't even sure the president had agreed to pardon somebody, that's pretty bad stuff."

Closing out the segment, McEnany added that the Department of Justice (DOJ) also questioned the clemency process under the Biden administration, which set a presidential record for the largest number of pardons and commutations granted to individuals.

A person familiar with the clemency process told Axios that after Biden pardoned his son Hunter on Dec. 1, 2024, "there was a mad dash to find groups of people that he could then pardon — and then they largely didn't run it by the Justice Department to vet them."

In September, the outlet reported that several senior Justice Department officials raised concerns with the White House counsel's office regarding the process to pardon individuals.

Additionally, senior Biden White House officials pushed back internally on requests to use the autopen, according to Axios, which cited emails it obtained.

It said Biden White House staff secretary Stef Feldman repeatedly asked for more information and confirmation of Biden’s intentions with the autopen.

"When did we get [Biden's] approval of this?" Feldman reportedly wrote in a Jan. 7 email regarding the use of autopen to sign an executive order.

"I'm going to need email from... original chain confirming [Biden] signs off on the specific documents when they are ready," she was cited by Axios as writing in a Jan. 16 email about using autopen to commute sentences linked to crack cocaine cases.

John Fetterman rips James Carville over court-packing plan, tells Democrats to 'win more elections'

Democratic Sen. John Fetterman is breaking with veteran party strategist James Carville, arguing that Democrats should "win more elections" rather than change the rules. His remarks were a response to Carville’s recent calls to pack the Supreme Court and confront the party’s "identity left."

"I strongly rejected trying to pack the Supreme Court or to change those things," Fetterman said on "Saturday in America."

"When I ran for the Senate back in the ‘21, ’22, I rejected those things," he added.

The difference in opinion between Carville and Fetterman underscores a growing divide within the Democratic Party between reformers and moderates who want to maintain existing institutions.

Earlier this month, Carville appeared on "Saturday in America" and voiced support for adding four liberal justices to the Supreme Court if Democrats retake the White House in 2028, saying the party should consider expanding the court to 13 justices.

"This is the lowest the Supreme Court has been rated, and if you believe, as I do, that we need faith in not just the executive or the congressional branch of government, but the Supreme Court," Carville said. "And it is not written anywhere in the Constitution that you have to have nine [justices]. That's just a number they came up with."

The Democratic strategist argued that increasing the number of justices would be the fastest way to "get some balance on the court."

During that Nov. 15 "Saturday in America" appearance, Carville responded to the idea that Fetterman is a top Democratic talent, saying, "If John Fetterman is the smartest person in the Democratic Party, the Democratic Party is in really, really, really deep trouble. Really deep trouble."

But Fetterman disagreed, saying the party shouldn’t rewrite longstanding rules for short-term political gain.

"It’s like, you don’t change the rules if you didn’t win. It’s, like, ‘Win more elections,’ and then you are able to change those dynamics the way it was designed to be in the Constitution right now."

Fetterman has repeatedly positioned himself as one of the party’s more moderate voices, breaking from Democrats on the record-shattering government shutdown and condemning socialism despite recent wins in places like New York City.

The government shutdown has stretched into one of the longest in U.S. history with Democrats and Republicans deadlocked over healthcare funding.

Among the few lawmakers breaking ranks was Democratic Sen. John Fetterman, D-Pa, who voted with Republicans to reopen the government. Now, he’s urging his colleagues to do the same.

"It’s an easy, easy choice to pick my country over the party, especially in circumstances like this," Fetterman said on "Saturday in America."

On Thursday, the Senate failed in a 54-46 vote to advance a Republican bill to pay certain federal workers during the shutdown, falling short of the 60 votes needed to pass the measure. Only three Democrats, including Fetterman, voted with Republicans.

GOVERNMENT LIMPS DEEPER INTO SHUTDOWN CRISIS WITH NO DEAL IN SIGHT

Democrats have refused to back any funding bill unless it includes an extension of enhanced Affordable Care Act subsidies, which are set to expire in 2025. They argue that failing to act before open enrollment in November could drive up premiums for millions of Americans.

But Republicans say the government needs to reopen before they can negotiate.

"I do believe that there’s a critical mass of my fellow Democrats that are dug in until there’s an absolute ironclad kind of a deal," Fetterman said, explaining his party’s position.

But Fetterman said he believes Senate Majority Leader John Thune, R-S.D., is an "honorable guy" and that talks on healthcare will move forward when the government is reopened.

"Let's just open it up," he said.

"Then we can have that conversation to see if we can extend those tax credit deals, because I do believe there are enough Republicans that would like to see that too."

SENATE STALLS ON SHUTDOWN VOTE AMID WARNING FURLOUGHED WORKERS MAY LOSE PAY

The shutdown began Oct. 1, shuttering nonessential federal offices and delaying pay for hundreds of thousands of workers. As it entered its fourth week, many federal employees missed their first full paycheck.

The impact on the federal government’s nutrition program is a major issue for Fetterman and one reason he believes lawmakers need to set aside differences and focus on getting people fed.

He said that, amid the standoff, neither political side is winning the battle. Instead, the entire country is losing.

Conservative podcaster urges Dems to say 'enough is enough' to violence after receiving death threats

Conservative podcaster Benny Johnson is calling for an end to political violence after a shocking threat letter put his family on high alert in the wake of Charlie Kirk's assassination. Now, he's asking how many more conservatives have to be targeted before Democrats take a stand.

"[Democrats] need to say enough is enough," Johnson said on "Saturday in America."

"[They need to say], 'We're going to reconcile with the extremist left wing of our party. We're going to acknowledge that we have a problem, and we're going to do something about it.' But, instead, they are nominating somebody for the attorney general of Virginia who is calling for exactly what happened to my family yesterday."

RESURFACED SOCIAL MEDIA POST COMES BACK TO HAUNT DISGRACED DEM AG NOMINEE: 'DELETE YOUR ACCOUNT'

Johnson's comments came in response to a threat letter that recently arrived at his home. On Friday, he stood alongside Attorney General Pam Bondi as she announced the arrest of a suspect accused of sending the letter. Johnson said the author graphically detailed how he would be killed in violent fashion.

"A man was charged for threatening my family, to kill me and to kill my children," "The Benny Show" host told Kayleigh McEnany.

"Jay Jones, who's running for attorney general in Virginia, he's on record doing the exact same thing – calling for the killing of Republicans and the killing of Republican children, calling them, ‘little fascists.’"

Johnson argued Democrats' failure to call on Jones to drop out of the race has led to a "horrific culture."

Jones, who is running against Republican incumbent Jason Miyares for attorney general in Virginia, has faced criticism for resurfaced 2022 text messages containing violent rhetoric about then-Virginia House Speaker Todd Gilbert and his family.

Republicans, including Virginia Gov. Glenn Youngkin, argue many Democrats' refusal to urge Jones to drop out of the race is a symptom of a larger problem within the party.

Johnson shared that sentiment, adding, "We [Republicans] just want peaceful debate. But this is a party [the Democratic Party] that is spiraling, and I think they've lost the debate. And because they've lost the debate, they are going to resort to violence, and it's awful to see.

"It's something that I don't want for my country.

"It's something that I want to see resolved, and the only way to resolve it is for Democrats to say ‘Enough.’ How many more of us need to die? How many times do we need to see our president shot in the head? How many more times do we need to see Charlie Kirks? How many more times do we need to see ICE facilities shot at? How many more Christian children praying in churches do we need to see slaughtered?"

Johnson urged the nation to refocus on family values and Christianity to restore respect for life and reduce violent rhetoric.

George Isbell Jr., 69, who allegedly wrote the threat letter to Johnson, was taken into custody Tuesday in San Diego.

He will be federally charged with mailing a threatening communication, according to Attorney General Pam Bondi.

Rep. Nancy Mace demands death penalty for South Carolina murder suspect, urging AG Bondi to step in

Rep. Nancy Mace, R-S.C., is calling for the death penalty for Alexander Dickey, a career criminal charged with the murder of college student Logan Federico, whose father supports getting justice for a "lunatic on a rampage."

Dickey allegedly shot and killed 22-year-old Logan Federico during a home invasion in Columbia, S.C., on May 3. Dickey, 30, is a convicted felon with a criminal record that includes 40 arrests, according to Mace.

"They had their chance with Alexander Dickey, and they blew it. That's why Logan's not here," her father, Stephen Federico, said Saturday on "Saturday in America."

"Logan deserves a fair trial. This is ridiculous," he told host Kayleigh McEnany. "This guy — ‘career criminal' — I don't even know if that describes it the right way. He was a lunatic on a rampage."

Mace shared on social media her letter to U.S. Attorney General Pam Bondi and U.S. Attorney for South Carolina Bryan Stirling, urging the federal government to intervene in Dickey's prosecution.

"We believe the severity of these crimes, including the murder of an innocent 22-year-old girl, clearly demands the death penalty," Mace wrote.

The letter details the alleged crimes Dickey committed leading up to Logan Federico's murder.

"On the evening of May 2, 2025, Alexander Dickey fled a traffic stop by University of South Carolina police, smoked methamphetamine, wrecked his vehicle in a residential neighborhood, and then proceeded to burglarize two homes in the neighborhood," it states.

While burglarizing a third home, according to Mace's letter, Dickey entered Logan Federico’s bedroom armed with a stolen 12-gauge shotgun and shot her at point-blank range. It adds that he stole her credit cards, fled in a stolen vehicle and went on a shopping spree.

Mace called out the South Carolina attorney general's office for its "soft-on-crime" policies and Fifth Circuit Solicitor Byron Gipson, who previously said he would not yet pursue the death penalty.

Stephen Federico appeared before Congress in September to plead for stricter crime policies.

"Think about your kids," he told lawmakers on Sept. 29. "Think about your child coming home from a night out with their friends, laying down, going to sleep, feeling somebody come in the room and wake them … forced on her knees, with her hands over her head, begging for her life."

In his plea, Stephen Federico cited Dickey's 39 prior arrests and 25 felonies.

Mace pointed to Executive Order 14164, in which President Donald Trump ordered the Department of Justice to "pursue the death penalty for all crimes of a severity demanding its use."

Mace argued there is sufficient evidence for the DOJ to charge Dickey under the Hobbs Act, which carries a possible death sentence.

"We are concerned South Carolina Attorney General Alan Wilson, who has never prosecuted a death penalty case, has politicized and acted unprofessionally in this matter, which could irrevocably jeopardize the State's ability to get justice for Logan’s family," her letter states.

Stephen Federico echoed Mace's calls for the federal government to intervene.

"The state of South Carolina — the solicitors in any of those offices — don't deserve Logan's case. They failed her already," he told McEnany. "Why do we want to let them fail her again? Period. This is a federal case that needs to be pushed that way, and I applaud Ms. Mace to do that."

Bondi has not yet publicly responded to Mace's letter.
