Woman says she’s being held against her will after cruise ship hantavirus scare

An American woman who may have been exposed to hantavirus on board the MV Hondius cruise ship is now being forced to quarantine at a facility in Omaha, Nebraska.

Angela Perryman, 47, anticipated having to stay at the National Quarantine Unit for a short time after arriving last week, but on Monday she was served with a federal order to remain quarantined for at least two more weeks, she shared with The New York Times.

The order mandates that Perryman remains in the facility until May 31, which would be a total of 21 days after her arrival. Officials told her that any attempts to leave could result in law enforcement involvement, she said.

"They won’t let us isolate at home," Perryman, who lives in Ecuador but has a home in South Florida, told the news outlet. "We’re being kept in a secured facility and threatened if we try to leave."

The woman shared that she received a negative hantavirus test result and is not experiencing symptoms. However, she said she did briefly speak with a passenger who later died from the disease.

The federal order, which the passenger shared with the Times, states that it could "constitute a probable source of infection to other people" if Perryman were to leave the facility to travel to another state.

After receiving a medical review within 72 hours, Perryman was told she can appeal the order. She told the Times that she plans to take legal action.

The quarantine unit includes 20 single-occupancy rooms with negative air pressure systems and en suite bathroom facilities, along with exercise equipment and Wi-Fi connectivity, according to the University of Nebraska Medical Center’s Global Center for Health Security website.

The quarantine order — issued under federal public health authority — was reportedly approved by Jay Bhattacharya, the acting head of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.

ӣ��Ƶ Digital reached out to the CDC requesting comment.

Including Perryman, a total of 18 American passengers from the MV Hondius have been monitored at the quarantine unit since last week.

Seven other passengers who left the ship and returned home prior to the outbreak’s discovery are being monitored by their state and local health departments, per the CDC.

"The reason they’re watching these passengers so carefully is that the incubation period can be very long — up to six weeks — and when symptoms hit, patients can deteriorate very rapidly," Dr. Marc Siegel, ӣ��Ƶ senior medical analyst, said during a recent episode of "The Faulkner Focus."

"This is not something that spreads easily like COVID, but because the Andes strain has rare person-to-person transmission, public health officials are being extremely cautious," he added.

At least three people linked to the outbreak aboard the ship have died, while additional passengers have been sickened, according to the World Health Organization.

The federal government last imposed a large-scale quarantine order in January 2020, when nearly 200 Americans evacuated from Wuhan, China, the epicenter of the COVID-19 outbreak. They were required to remain in isolation for two weeks at the March Air Reserve Base in Riverside County, California, per the CDC.

During the coronavirus pandemic, Elizabeth Hurley made use of quarantine by modeling bikinis for her 2.1 million followers on Instagram.

The sizzling snaps went viral and it drew attention to the actress and model’s swimwear brand while she was isolated at home.

"Well, it was challenging because I didn’t leave the country for anywhere hot," the 56-year-old told People (the TV show!) on Tuesday. "I filmed abroad, but I actually filmed in really cold countries. So all I had was my yard and my house, which is England. I didn’t have the beach, I didn’t have the sea, I don’t have any water. We very rarely have the sun."

The star shared that it was her son Damian Hurley, a fellow model, who gave her a confidence boost to take the plunge.

For the afterparty red carpet, Hurley famously wore a black silk Versace dress that was held together with oversized gold safety pins.

While the gown made Hurley a household name overnight, she doesn’t know where it is today because she "gave it back straight away."

"I know it’s been in places like the Metropolitan Museum of New York and it’s been in the [Victoria and Albert] museum here [in England]," she told the outlet. "I think it’s been on a world tour."

Back in January of this year, Piers Morgan apologized to Hurley for calling her "thirsty and creepy" after she shared a racy topless pic of herself.

In the outdoor photo shared on Instagram, Hurley wore a black and white fluffy coat that partially covered her chest, as well as white bikini bottoms.

The image went viral and received plenty of praise in the comments, but found some critics including Morgan, 56, who appeared to speculate that the actress had told her son Damian, 19, to take the picture.

After Morgan’s allegation, Hurley took to Twitter where she shared a few more shots from the photoshoot and clarified who exactly took them.

"Far be it for me to suggest the tabloids get their facts muddled, but these pics were in fact taken by my 80 year old mother," she wrote online. "Not entirely sure if that puts minds at rest or not."

Hurley launched a London-based swimwear line named Elizabeth Hurley Beach in 2005.

"I decided to venture into beachwear not only because I’ve always been obsessed with vacation clothes, but also because it’s an area where women, regardless of shape or size, can either look amazing or really get it wrong. I wanted to develop resort collections, which make women feel fabulous at any age," she announced on the company’s site.

In May 2017, the star told Closer Weekly that being a mom inspired her to launch the brand. She previously took a break from Hollywood to focus on motherhood but found herself wanting to do something new professionally.

The couple, who hit it off late last year during a group text chat, enjoyed a slow courtship, or what the "Happy Days" actress described as "a very Victorian process" where they spent weeks talking before sharing a kiss.

"We Zoomed every single night for at least two to three hours," Duffy, 72, recently told Closer Weekly. "So we explored all our history, our past, our loves. We listened to music together and covered all that ground you normally cover over months of dating."

"It was a time to really get to know one another with no outside influences to encumber you," Duffy told the outlet. "We found out that we’re aiming in the same direction."

The pair became even closer – and they’re still going strong.

"To look forward to every moment you can be with somebody is a real gift in a relationship," said Duffy. "I am stunned every time that I realize this amazing woman loves me. It’s just like, wow!"

"Life is full of surprises, both good and bad," said Purl. "Patrick and I weren’t looking for this. We didn’t expect it or see it coming when our paths crossed. Don’t ever give up."

Duffy previously told the outlet that his wife’s death came unexpectedly, making her loss all the more painful.

"It was a surprise when she passed," said Duffy. "There was no indication. So that was the big adjustment. My boys were there as stalwarts. But I also realized that, as much as they were trying to buttress old dad up, I’m probably more adjusted to this set of circumstances than they are. You reach a certain age and you realize the road ahead is much shorter than the road behind."

Duffy is aware he must move forward, both for himself and his family. However, he said he will continue to cherish the memories he has of Rosser.

"There are no mistakes in life," he said. "I can mend every fence I’ve broken and create value out of everything I’ve done if I’m given enough time. I have done it and I still am doing OK. I have worked hard to make the best of life, and it’s been good to me."

Candace Cameron Bure revealed that her time during quarantine was the perfect opportunity to work out some of her relationship issues with her husband Valeri Bure.

The actress, 45, and the former hockey pro, 46, tied the knot in 1996. They share three children.

"When you’re all in a house together for [over a year], you have to start talking about the things you kind of avoid because of work and travel and all that stuff," the former "Fuller House" star told Us Weekly on Monday.

"We just pushed through some of the things that were eating away at both of us," she added.

According to the former child star, spending extra time together during the coronavirus pandemic has allowed important conversations that needed to happen to finally take place as a family.

"There’s hurt feelings for a minute," she explained. "And then there’s pouting for a minute and there’s anger for a minute. And then you kind of go, well, ‘How are we going to figure it out? And that’s what marriage is really all about, but it was kind of thrown in your face during quarantine."

The outlet noted that they were empty nesters prior to the pandemic. However, all three of their children returned home.

Cameron Bure previously told the outlet that quarantine has given the couple a new perspective on their marriage.

"I feel like we were always working hard to have our schedules meet, to spend more time together," she admitted. "It was such an effort… to the point where that was part of our issue. We were getting cranky with each other. [Now], it’s… like, ‘Why didn’t we figure this out a long time [ago]?’"

Trisha Yearwood is opening up about her 15-year marriage to country legend Garth Brooks and how the two make it work despite being "very independent people" in their own right.

Speaking to Us Weekly while promoting her new pet supplies line, the "In Another Eyes" performer said the couple has spent more time together than ever before due to the ongoing coronavirus pandemic.

"I think we're both very much alphas. We're both very independent people who run our own ships. Sometimes when two people are driving two big ships it can be difficult," the 56-year-old told the outlet.

Still, Yearwood said the couple is used to seeing a lot of each other, so quarantining under the same roof with "really nowhere to go" didn't present a "huge change."

The couple's support of one another was noticed back in February when a rep for Brooks confirmed that Yearwood tested positive for the coronavirus while he tested negative. At the time, Brooks assured fans his wife is "tough" and "stronger than me."

Asked if Brooks is really as "perfect" as he seems, Yearwood admitted he is.

"There are things that he does that kind of drive me nuts but they are not bad. He really is, at the end of the day, even when I'm mad at him, he listens. Even when I think he's not listening to me, he is. He's kind, he's very generous and he's very thoughtful. He's always thinking about other people," Yearwood gushed.

It’s tough having four wives during a pandemic – just ask Kody Brown.

Sunday’s episode of "Sister Wives" chronicled how the coronavirus pandemic impacted the United States, including Flagstaff, Arizona, where the plural family resides.

Brown’s wives – Christine, Janelle, Meri and Robyn – were all living in separate households to ensure social distancing, as well as to meet self-quarantining guidelines.

The exhausted patriarch said he was the only one going in-between homes.

The reality TV star admitted he was "the most dangerous person in the whole family when it comes to COVID-19 because I’m going from house to house – I could spread it from house to house."

According to Brown, each wife runs her own household.

"There’s this sort of thing that happens in our relationships, that I guess is only fair in plural marriage – the mom, the household belongs to her," he explained. "It just feels odd to me. ‘OK, this is what you’re going to do.’ Well, wait a second, do I have a say in this?"

"The whole family’s got to be involved in this discussion," he said. "You know, it’s just one of those times when maybe I wish I just told my wives what we’re going to do. But I am so confused by this whole thing that I don’t even know what to do."

Brown and his wives eventually got participated in a conference call where he expressed his frustration.

"I feel like I’m being passed around like a rag doll now," he said.

The pair originally met in 1989 through mutual friends and tied the knot six months later when she was 19 and he 22. Five years later, they welcomed their daughter Mariah. The newspaper shared that Brown’s second wife Janelle came in 1993, followed by wife Christine a year later.

Brown and Meri divorced in 2014, AZCentral.com reported. He legally married his fourth wife Robyn, so that he could adopt her children from a previous relationship. Brown has previously said he is "spiritually" married to Meri, Janelle and Christine.

Being married to more than one person, or bigamy is illegal across the United States. The law in Mormon-heavy Utah is considered stricter because of a unique provision that bars married people from living with a second "spiritual spouse."

The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints abandoned polygamy in 1890 and strictly prohibits it today. The Browns consider themselves fundamentalist Mormons.

Back in 2019, Brown told ӣ��Ƶ that the family has agreed on not considering a fifth wife anytime soon.

"We really took the fifth wife thing off the table a long time ago," said Brown. "And because we don’t want to snub the concept, we’ve always sort of been very casually dismissing it, and I think that’s one reason the question keeps coming up. But it’s technically been off the table as long as we’ve done the show."

Prince Albert of Monaco said his journey to recovery after his coronavirus diagnosis didn’t end after quarantine.

The royal tested positive for COVID-19 in March and was the first head of state to contract the virus. Monaco’s reigning sovereign and the son of late former Hollywood actress Grace Kelly spent two weeks in palace isolation.

The 62-year-old, who returned home to his wife Princess Charlene and their 5-year-old twins after his quarantine ended on March 31, retained a small cough, People magazine recently reported. According to the outlet, Albert also experienced different symptoms which lasted into June.

Albert told the outlet his initial infection was “a very mild case.” However, he suffered “moments of marked fatigue” that lasted long after his diagnosis.

“Immediately after my quarantine, I felt better, but I still didn’t feel quite right,” Albert admitted.

Albert revealed that the regular episodes of intermittent fatigue “absolutely lasted into June.”

Fatigue as well as shortness of breath, cough, joint and chest pain are the most commonly reported long-term symptoms of COVID-19, the CDC reported.

Other reported long-term symptoms include difficulty with thinking and concentration – also known as “brain fog” – as well as depression, muscle pain, headache, intermittent fever and heart palpitations.

“There were times during the day when it just hit, but not like the kind of drowsiness you feel after a heavy meal,” Albert recalled. “It was really just an experience of physical fatigue, like the kind that comes on when you’ve done too much or when you’re coming off an illness. The virus stays with you quite a while.”

Amid lockdown, Albert told the outlet that “he hasn’t done a lot of Netflix actually.” Instead, he’s been using the extra time to organize, catch up on phone calls and read.

According to the outlet, while France and neighboring Italy have struggled with a “severe” second wave this fall, Monaco’s earlier imposed, more stringent public health actions and lockdown measures have greatly reduced the virus in the country.

Albert said he is encouraged by the results.

"The index, the number of people infected per population is one of – if not the lowest – in Europe, so we’re holding on but we have to keep everybody in tow by keeping up with masks and other elements of social distancing and hand sanitizers," he added.

The prince shared Monaco will be “very careful, very cautious” during the holiday season to ensure infection numbers remain low.

It’s very common that people want to get into their bikinis for the summer or those extra five pounds for a special event. For me, it’s all about taking care of myself year-round. So I never really modified my lifestyle to prepare for something important. I think now I work out stronger and smarter as a mother of four and as a woman in my 40s, mostly because I understand the benefits from that that go way behind fitness. It’s more than just getting into the best shape of your life. It’s about how I feel and creating more energy.

ӣ��Ƶ: Have you always been a fan of fitness?
Burke: Oh yes… I’m in a space right now where fitness for optimal living has become a big part of my life. I’ve been an advocate for women’s health for a very long time, but it has become a much bigger part of my life, for sure.

Burke: When fitness digitized, I realized that through an app, I could work out with women and even men around the globe kind of 24/7 and build a community where I can offer support and encouragement. I also guide them through the world of fitness and help them discover what works best for them. As a mom of four kids, I’ve always had a very demanding, chaotic lifestyle. However, carving out some time for myself that’s effective and efficient has been a game-changer for me, physically and mentally.

And during COVID-19, I’ve been able to do live streams to create a global connection without having to be in person. There’s never been a greater demand for fitness apps than right now. The digital possibilities are endless and allow you to take out all those excuses that we’re really good at making.

ӣ��Ƶ: How can we make fitness fun?
Burke: I think the real issue of why a lot of people don’t stick to their goals and accomplish them is because they’re not as excited from the start... I think mixing it up is key. And you have to find something that works, something that you can be consistent with. A lot of people don’t love fitness. They’re intimidated by it. And then don’t know where to start so they don’t start. I’m really all about finding something that’s doable. Start small, listen to your body. I try to offer encouragement and compassion. It’s not a bootcamp. It’s a journey we take together. And I think a lot of women are really responding to that right now.

ӣ��Ƶ: You’ve also spoken about fasting in the past. How does it help you maintain your fitness goals?
Burke: I think the word "fasting" puts people in a panic, like a really negative thing to do. I’ve been intermittent fasting for several years. Believe it or not, I’m not hungry. It’s not super challenging. It’s the easiest type of meal plan that I’ve ever done. I spend more time in the kitchen preparing food. I feel healthier because I know what’s going in my gut and it gives my body a chance to rest and recover.

It’s very simple -- I don’t eat for 16 hours. I have an eight-hour window. I’m mindful of what I put in my body. Intermittent fasting has been a game-changer. It’s more efficient in terms of achieving better energy and breaking down the fat in your body. It sounds scary but a lot of people are doing it now. And it's not a new concept, people have been doing it for centuries. I think if you remove the word “fast” and think about what you’re actually doing to your body, how you’re allowing your body to rest and recover, it will make a huge difference.

ӣ��Ƶ: What are some things we will always find in your kitchen?
Burke: I’m a big believer that 90% of feeling good comes from what we’re putting into our bodies. So lots of colorful vegetables, lots of green tea, lots of soups, lean meats, protein and little sugar. I love to cook and I have a garden to grow fresh vegetables. The kitchen is sort of the conference room for my family.

In terms of supplements, there’s a lot of products out there. But I personally have been taking Tru Niagen for about six years. When it comes to mom fatigue, I need as much energy as possible to combat that and I like natural energy. We’re all grinding right now trying to raise our families, accomplish goals and tackle new shifts -- it’s the new norm. So energy metabolism and cellular function are really important to me. I want to increase my energy and metabolism, but I also want to sleep at night… It’s a good supplement to consider if you’re considering taking one thing.

Burke: It’s been pretty consistent over the years *laughs*. I would say a margarita pizza with olive oil on top, maybe some jalapeños for some spice. I really love red wine. I drink less of it because of the sugar content. But I would say crunchy, salty savory carbs would be my splurge.

ӣ��Ƶ: You beat cancer in 2012. What’s the greatest lesson that you learn from that experience?
Burke: I learned the importance of yearly physicals and taking advantage of the medical opportunities that we have with early diagnosis. You know, I was diagnosed through a routine physical. So that lesson taught me the importance of yearly check-ups. I know a proper physical can be time-consuming and expensive, but it’s a part of what we have to do. We just have to do it. I think being a good patient, being responsible for our bodies is key. I don’t compromise with that ever.

EXCLUSIVE: Rick Ness was eager to search for gold, even during a global pandemic.

While the coronavirus shut down the world in March and rocked the U.S. economy, gold prices spiked to record highs. And the price of fuel, the biggest expense for a gold miner, bottomed out. That’s why Ness was ready to hit the road in hopes of finding millions of dollars in gold.

The new season of “Gold Rush,” recognized as Discovery’s most-watched series, focuses on how COVID-19 impacted the gold mining industry and how several miners were eager to seek fortune in the wilderness. However, the time crunch and the natural elements would be one of many challenges these crewmen and women had to endure.

Ness spoke to ӣ��Ƶ about filming “Gold Rush” during a pandemic, dealing with quarantine and what kept him going during tough times.

ӣ��Ƶ: What can audiences expect from the new season of “Gold Rush”?
Rick Ness: Well, this was an interesting one, I'll tell you that. I mean, we were just as affected as everybody by COVID. I can only speak for myself personally, but I got a late start this year and it was a year that I really needed an early start. I had a bad year last year.

But we powered through it and got back to our roots. I think people are going to like what they see. I mean, it's just a dirty, hard nose kind of a season right here. We didn't have a whole lot of time, we just had to just smash it out as fast as we could. And hopefully, everybody likes the results.

ӣ��Ƶ: What kept you going during those tough times, especially after having a bad year?
Ness: I think that pretty much provided all the drive I needed this year. I had one goal in mind and that was redemption, and it would have been nice if everybody hadn't been affected by COVID, and I'd had a full shot at it. But at that point, it didn't matter. Redemption was all that was on my mind and I wasn't going to take no for an answer. I was going after it.

ӣ��Ƶ: How did the coronavirus pandemic impact the gold mining industry?
Ness: I mean, speaking for myself, it took me about six weeks to be able to cross the border because my operation is in the Yukon territory of Canada. And even though I'm a business owner there, I still am a citizen of the United States and the border was closed. So, it took me quite a while to get up there.

But… I’m in the middle of nowhere in the woods. And there's almost nowhere better you can be than in the Yukon during something like that. I mean, the population is so sparse that there's only... For every one person, I think there are 100 square miles of land.

But I had to report to the government, I had to do a quarantine, and I had to have all this planning and everything in place and documented for my business. We were very lucky to be able to operate, but we were definitely still affected.

ӣ��Ƶ: How frustrating was it for you to be at home in lockdown for months at a time when it seemed like it was a perfect opportunity to take advantage of gold mining?
Ness: This spring was one of the most frustrating parts of my life. I mean, I was at home, here in Brookfield, Wisconsin. I haven't been home in April in nine years since I started doing this and it was just bizarre. And the gold prices were going up and fuel prices were just way down. That’s like the magic formula for my business. And so, to say it was frustrating is putting it mildly.

ӣ��Ƶ: When it comes to gold mining, is it safe to say that it's one industry that seems to be thriving, even during the pandemic, or is it still struggling in many ways?
Ness: Well, I don't have my finger on the pulse of the entire gold mining industry. What I do, the way that we're placer mining, it's pretty secluded, pretty lonely, and you're pretty disconnected from the rest of the world.

But I will say, from my end, I mean, yes, we were deemed essential and we were able to work, which I feel very lucky for that, but we were definitely still affected the whole time. We rely on everything getting shipped to us, from our food to our parts or fuel. And every single one of those things was affected by the pandemic. So it was tough.

ӣ��Ƶ: You were previously a musician. Is it true your family initially had a difficult time processing the fact that you wanted to pursue gold mining?
Ness: Well, my family had a difficult time processing just about everything I wanted to do growing up *laughs*.

But yeah, I spent most of my 20s as a full-time touring musician. And that's a hard thing to explain to your family. Because, I mean, I was very busy. I was on the road, I got to see the world when I was touring eight months of the year, but I wasn't making a ton of money at it.

I don't think really think my family understood that. And then all of a sudden, I pivot out of left field and I say, "I'm going to do gold mining." And I think my dad must have thought I was crazy or I was mispronouncing something wrong. But I was just like, "Well, I'll see you later. I'm going to Alaska." And even that took a couple of years of convincing… But, I'm pretty sure I've convinced him that it was the right move.

ӣ��Ƶ: What’s one misconception you feel people still have about gold mining today and what's the reality?
Ness: Before I got into gold mining, I guess I would have had the same thought - some old-timey guy with a pan in a creek. And I guess it's come a long way. Often a lot of people do think underground as well, and that's something that I'd never do. I do something called placer mining, and that's basically above-ground mining.

Some things have come a long way, some things haven't. We use obviously big, 70 ton machines, excavators, rock trucks and dozers. But at the end of the day, we're still processing it through our wash plant. And the end result is, is when it goes through the sluice box, is what it's called, and sluice boxes have been around since those early days. And they really haven't changed much. Yeah, in some ways it's very different in some ways it's exactly the same.

ӣ��Ƶ: What advice would you give to someone who wants to pursue gold mining?
Ness: It’s not a hard thing to get into, but at the same time it is. I mean, it's not happening everywhere. Honestly, it can be a very well-paying gig. And a lot of times it's seasonal.

I run my company six months a year and it's really tough work though, that's the thing. I guess I would say to somebody, you'd better prepare yourself to work like you never have. I mean, personally, I spend six months... I work 100 hours a week plus, we don't take days off, and it's not for everybody. But hey, if you want to try it, go for it.

Ignacio “Nacho” Figueras isn’t shy about keeping the romance alive.

The Argentinean polo champion normally spends the year traveling around the world, but not without Delfina Blaquier, his wife of 15 years, by his side.

The 43-year-old star athlete and the 39-year-old businesswoman tied the knot in 2005 and share four children.

Figueras isn’t currently competing due to the ongoing coronavirus pandemic, but the family is spending time at home, riding horses across breathtaking fields in Argentina. Most recently, Figueras and Blaquier hosted the Veuve Clicquot Polo Classic virtually.

The field was once home to polo matches amongst the stars, including Will Rogers, Walt Disney and Spencer Tracy, among others.

Figueras spoke to ӣ��Ƶ about the secret behind his lasting marriage and what his home life is like these days:

ӣ��Ƶ: What’s the secret behind your lasting marriage to Delfina?
Nacho Figueras: I think respect and doing a lot of things together, kind of like being able to live a fun life, a roller coaster life full of things. That's what I like about doing lots of things is that our days [are] basically [full] 24/7, so there's not a lot of time to get distracted in a good way.

We're always doing things that we love and whether it's the children, horses, breeding, the presentation of her clothing line -- our lives are super busy. And most of the things that we do, we do together. We respect each other and we care for each other. So far so good.

It's not perfect. I won't lie to you, but it's a great one. I like her a little bit more every day. I think you have to water the plant every day. That's also important. You cannot take anything for granted. I really don't imagine myself with anybody else but her.

ӣ��Ƶ: How has the coronavirus pandemic impacted your life with family at home?
Figueras: I did travel a lot before the pandemic. I obviously haven't traveled as much since. But… I used to travel a lot with my children and we used to homeschool a lot because my job makes me travel around the world. I travel around the world with my children because I wouldn't do it any other way.

My kids go to physical school in Argentina. But when we are traveling, which is eight months out of the year, they homeschool. So we travel with a tutor. Their lives haven't changed as much. So I always say that I'm a very lucky guy because I have lunch and dinner with my kids almost every day of my life, which is a super blessing and something that most people that actually go to an office or that used to have a regular job, don't have the pleasure of doing.

I think that has been one of the great things about this pandemic. One of the things that we can take as a positive has been the amount of time that families are being able to spend together, which I used to be able to do a lot myself. So I always felt very lucky about that. So from that standpoint, things haven't changed as much.

ӣ��Ƶ: What’s one key piece of advice you would give to other parents trying to navigate this year?
Figueras: I would say enjoy the time you have with your family. I know it can be hard because we are used to going out and socializing. But this is a time to enjoy, the extra time being with your family. To me, it's the most amazing treasure that I have to be able to be with my wife and my children all day long. I know it can require a little bit of patience. I would say respect the other person and respect their space, too.

ӣ��Ƶ: What's it been like raising your children in Argentina? They must spend more time outdoors?
Figueras: Well, technology is a threat to my family also. I mean, it's a tool, but it's also a threat when not used properly or when used too much, I think it can be hard. We have a lot of rules regarding technology.

Even though my kids have grown [up] in Argentina and we happen to live a very outdoorsy life, and we're lucky about that, these things take over. They are very addictive and we have very tough rules, no phones on the table when we're having breakfast, dinner, or lunch or whatever. That's not allowed.

ӣ��Ƶ: When it comes to technology, what are the rules your children need to follow?
Figueras: There are certain times at night, it has to be turned off. If they've been on the phone for too long, that's it, they have to go outside. I mean, but you can do that up to a certain point. What do you have to give them, or what we try to do is we try to give them things to do that do not involve a phone.

That's why I think sports, and horses and for us, and polo, it's such a blessing because you cannot be on your phone when you're playing polo. It's just impossible. So, I like sports for that reason. I think that sports are very important.

ӣ��Ƶ: Have you ever felt tempted to lead a normal life outside of the spotlight?
Figueras: No, I don't know. I try to stay as far away from the spotlight as I can, for no particular reason. I try to live a normal life as much as I can. I don't think I have that much of a spotlight anyway. I feel very blessed and lucky to be able to have a great family and an amazing wife that's supportive of what we do.

We try to do everything as a family together. Every project that we embark ourselves, I, at least from my standpoint, I try to include my wife and my children as much as I can because I like to share things with them. But I always say, I feel very lucky about the opportunities that life has given me.

ӣ��Ƶ: What’s your first memory of playing polo?
Figueras: I started playing polo on a farm in Argentina when I was little. So I think just the great thing about starting polo when you're a child, is that you don't really think about it, just like to be outside riding horses. So I think it's that having fun at the farm with other kids and just running around, not really knowing what you're doing. So, I have the best memories of me growing up riding horses and playing polo with other children.

ӣ��Ƶ: As an athlete, how frustrating has it been to not be on the field and play right now?
Figueras: That has been the toughest part, I think. For me, that's the thing that has changed the most is the competition. We stopped competing in Florida in March, which was the last time that I really competed and usually I'm competing all year round. So that has been the toughest part. Although I've been riding and playing polo, it's not the same. When you are used to competing and always measuring yourself against others, it's something that I was used to. So, that has been tough.

In a way, it’s a little bit refreshing… it gave me a little bit more time to focus on other things. So I've been doing things that I haven't done before. But now I'm ready to go back on the field and start competing. I think I had enough of this reset and, hopefully, things will get back to as normal as they can be sooner than later. *laughs*

ӣ��Ƶ: What was it like hosting the Veuve Clicquot Classic virtually this year?
Figueras: Listen, I feel blessed that we were able to at least connect with our fans and with the people that have been so supportive of polo for the past 13 years in New York and 10 in LA. So, given the circumstances and what's going on in the world, we felt, or I feel also, that it was a blessing to be able to connect with the people and at least show them a little bit of the history of the event.

As we said, at the end of the event, toast to hopefully being to able to reunite in the close future, whenever that may be possible. But so that's how it felt. Obviously, we missed being there. I miss it very much, but it's all good.

EXCLUSIVE: Suzanne Somers isn't phased by the roller coaster ride that is 2020.

The “Three’s Company” star told ӣ��Ƶ that not even quarantine could test the unbreakable bond she shares with her husband of 43 years, Alan Hamel.

“We are deeply in love with each other and are constantly kissing and laughing, telling each other how much we love each other,” the 73-year-old revealed. “Alan is very tender with me and our Facebook Live shows we do three times a week are real between us. [I have] no idea what we are going to do each time other than drink tequila and cook.”

“Alan and I did all of our fighting in the first 10 years when we broke up on a regular basis and then an hour later worked it out,” she explained. “My advice, and I’m not sure what it’s worth, is to remember the early days of the relationship when everything was love and respect, sexy and very hopeful.

“We have a strange relationship,” Somers continued. “We absolutely love being together. The pandemic hasn’t affected us. We’ve spent every minute and not one night apart in 40 years. I know it’s unusual, but it sure works for us. We are one.”

Most recently, Somers released a coconut massage kit from her Suzanne Organics line, which she happily demonstrated on the 84-year-old via Instagram, to prove you can easily fire things up for any occasion. The kit is now sold out.

“He turns me on,” she said. “Since the day we met, I’m overwhelmed with the feeling that I can’t get enough of him. I love his smarts, I love his sexiness, I love the ‘bad boy’ in him. I know he loves me deeply. He is loyal. I trust him. I love who he is as a husband and father. He is a success in every arena. He is my soulmate. We laugh together all throughout the day … and he’s a great dancer!”

For Hamel, it’s easy to stay head over heels in love with Somers.

“Suzanne is perfection!” he gushed to ӣ��Ƶ. “I still remember that moment we met. [She] was very different from all the ladies I knew in my 20s. I had trouble speaking. I was stunned. We started living together.

“[We] married and fought like wild dogs for years,” Hamel admitted. “But we both knew that this was the real deal and worth figuring out, which we did. Since that time, our relationship has really deepened and I don’t remember the last time we argued. We are together 24 hours a day and not one night apart in over 40 years. I crave another 40.”

Hamel was there to support Somers for some of the most difficult moments of her life.

When Somers starred as bodacious blonde Chrissy Snow on “Three’s Company,” she wanted to get paid for what she was worth.

The Hollywood Reporter revealed that when it came time for Season 5 negotiations, Somers was looking to earn $150,000 instead of $30,000, which was equal to what co-star John Ritter was receiving. Instead, ABC only offered a $5,000 hike.

Hamel attempted to negotiate with ABC, but Somers insisted the network was looking to make an example out of her. Not only did they do just that, but the star claimed no one came to her defense, including her co-stars and the National Organization for Women or Women in Film, which specifically aims to advocate for equal pay and representation in the screen industry.

“I’m out there playing the dumbest woman in America on television, so it didn’t sync up that I’m the one out there going, ‘Hey, excuse me. Could we talk about parity here and fairness and all that?’” Somers told ӣ��Ƶ in 2017.

However, with Hamel’s encouragement, an unemployed Somers was able to secure a Las Vegas residency — a deal she said that was for more money than she ever asked for on "Three’s Company.” Not only did Somers' shows sell out for 15 years, but by 1987, she was crowned Female Entertainer of the Year in Sin City. She shared the throne with Frank Sinatra, who was selected Male Entertainer of the Year.

Somers' business-romance collaboration with Hamel has continued to thrive.

“I am madly in love,” she declared to ӣ��Ƶ. “I still am. It’s bizarre to me that after 40 years of marriage and 50 years together that I still feel that way. But he turns me on, and I think I turn him on, and it’s always been like that. You know the way it is when you first start dating someone and this might be the one? That feeling has never gone away.

Jennifer Garner got extremely emotional when she finished binge-watching “The Office” with her children on Monday.

The “13 Going on 30” star revealed on Instagram that she’s been watching the sitcom, set at the fictional paper company Dunder Mifflin, with her kids -- Violet, Samel and Seraphina Affleck -- as a quarantine activity.

Unbeknownst to Garner, 48, she caught a video of herself in slow motion while she was in tears watching the finale episode.

Cooking in quarantine reduces food waste, could help climate change

While large farms and similar food industries have had to trash crops and dairy throughout the pandemic after millions adhered to shelter-in-place orders, many American households have taken an opposite approach to minimize their food waste.

A month after the novel coronavirus was declared a pandemic, Americans reported they were cooking more often and wasting less food, according to a survey from HUNTER, an integrated marketing and public relations firm.

Fifty-four percent engaged in more frequent cooking while 46% engaged in more frequent baking.

And Americans are still making meals at home four months after the survey’s findings came to light, according to a new report from Reuters.

“We are using virtually all of our leftovers, where we used to waste food because we would forget to pack it and just pick up fast food on a lunch break,” Auburn Hills, Mich. resident Clint Parry told the news outlet.

While Parry’s decision to use the food available in his home stemmed largely from wanting to save money, Reuters suggests the move could have a positive impact on climate change if it is adopted by the masses.

Before the pandemic, American food waste amounted to about 30% to 40%, according to estimates from the U.S. Department of Agriculture.

“This estimate, based on estimates from USDA’s Economic Research Service of 31% food loss at the retail and consumer levels, corresponded to approximately 133 billion pounds and $161 billion worth of food in 2010,” the government agency said on its website under a Waste FAQs page.

Those billions of pounds could have helped families in need and consumed energy and resources to be disposed of, which have ultimately contributed to greenhouse gases, according to the USDA and U.S. Environmental Protection Agency.

Navy veteran says he scaled his business to help more people despite pandemic, economic turmoil

Navy veteran Chris Cavallini is an entrepreneur and philanthropist whose hard work won’t slow down amid the coronavirus pandemic.

Every day he starts with monster workouts not designed for the weak and timid.

“Breathwork, hard physical training and 20 to 30 minute sauna sessions. I wake up early -- my alarm is set to [4:50] and I like to start my day by priming my mind and body to optimal levels," he told ӣ��Ƶ.

"Physical exercise first thing in the morning is an opportunity to not just feel great to start the day, but also to improve on your discipline, mental toughness and confidence, because let’s face it, nobody really wants to do a hard workout early in the morning when they first wake up."

During his turbulent youth, Cavallini said he was arrested 17 times prior to his 18th birthday and later served jail time for felony distribution of controlled substances.

Cavallini ultimately changed his life’s course by dedicating his life to personal development, health and fitness, building up people and using his platforms to educate on the practical action steps he took to bridge the gap from drug dealer to multimillionaire CEO of a national lifestyle brand and meal prep company that reports over eight figures of annual revenue.

This crazy year -- with the coronavirus pandemic and economic turmoil -- hasn’t deterred his focus.

“It’s changed slightly, of course, but I adjusted quickly and with a good attitude because I understand the importance of only focusing on that of which we can control," he explained. "The extra time and energy I was gifted when a lot of the luxuries and amenities a lot of us are used to were shut down has been reinvested as productively as possible."

“I built a home gym at my house at the beginning of the pandemic because my health and fitness were not things I am willing to compromise on," he explained. "Working more from home also gave me the ability to truly detach from the day-to-day of the business and come up with some really great strategies to move our business forward."

"We were effectively able to scale our business 34 percent during a global pandemic and economic crisis, which I credit my team with. I believe detachment along with the freed-up energy is what helped me clearly see what needed to happen for us to get to the next level and truly help more people.”

CORONAVIRUS: WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW

Cavallini, who lives by a paramilitary-style structure in all things, has achieved his success after a rough start. He said at 18, he was given a choice: jail or the military.

He told The Alpha Human Podcast: “For the first time in my life, I was in a situation where I had purpose, I had structure, I had real true significance. I was very proud of what I did. [...] I was a Navy deep-sea diver, I was in a very elite community."

"I started learning about the importance of discipline, attention to detail, about taking pride in your work, and the importance of having a mission and doing what needs to be done to accomplish that mission at all costs," he told the podcast. "And that was a really good thing. Having that structure, having that discipline, as I was the youngest guy from the time that I checked into my command, to the time that I checked out, so having all these older, more experienced, more educated people who I looked up to as mentors was the perfect recipe for somebody like me who came from the circumstances that I did.”

These days, the modern Renaissance Man, now based in Tampa, has done 55 episodes of The Start Today Podcast. He also has his nutrition business and he even recommends a booklist for the modern man to level up.

He told ӣ��Ƶ: “Honestly, the crisis gave us more purpose and pride in what we do than during normal times. Because in times of hardship, adversity or crisis, having a productive, positive outlet to focus on is essential to navigate through those times in the best way possible. ‘Celebrate Adversity’ is also a core value at the company.”

Cavallini had to become innovative this year to rise to meet new challenges.

“One of my goals that I put on paper every single day is to donate $10 million to charity and those in need, so needless to say contribution is extremely important to me. Every week my company, Nutrition Solutions, donates hundreds of healthy meals to people in need. Whether the homeless or underprivileged or food-insecure children who come from broken homes. ‘Help People’ is a core value of our company and something we apply not just within our business, but in the community, as well.”

Cavallini knows it’s his duty to give back, as well as help create new and better futures for others.

“On Fridays while on the clock, my team does community service in the local community to keep our streets clean and make the world a cleaner place to live. Beyond that, I make personal donations routinely to Operation Underground Railroad whose mission is to rescue children who have been sexually abused or involved in human trafficking; law enforcement, different organizations that support veterans and often speak to underprivileged children who have been in trouble or come from the same circumstances I did -- and by sharing my story, teaching them about the importance of personal responsibility, health and fitness, show them a better way of doing things and instill within them a sense of hope.”

He knows this year has changed his life, Cavallini said -- but for the better.

“It’s been slightly disappointing to see how poorly many people have dealt with the changes in our society and the negativity that’s been spread on social media. I can’t say I’m surprised, as people, in general, have a hard time with change," Cavallini added. "I just wish more people would focus on what they can do and the opportunities that are present, other than solely fixating on what they can’t. Because there is always opportunity in times of crisis.”

There’s a reason why Camilla, Duchess of Cornwall has transformed from “the most hated woman in Britain” to beloved royal.

The 72-year-old, who is married to Prince Charles, used her time in quarantine amid the coronavirus pandemic to present herself as “accessible” and “relatable,” royal expert Katie Nicholl told Vanity Fair on Thursday.

Keith Coogan had always known he wanted to be an actor long before he knew who his grandfather was.

In 1919, Jackie Coogan became the first major star in American movie history when he appeared alongside Charlie Chaplin in “The Kid.” He would later go on to capitative a different generation as Uncle Fester in “The Addams Family.” And the patriarch influenced Hollywood in other ways.

The Coogan Law, enacted in 1939 after Jackie sued his parents for burning through the money he earned as a child actor, requires 15 percent of a young performer’s earnings to be deposited in a blocked trust account, The Hollywood Reporter shared. It still aims to protect young entertainers today.

ӣ��Ƶ: Looking back at your career, what initially drew you to acting?
Keith Coogan: The desire to be one of those kids I saw on television. It looked like fun. I didn’t understand my grandfather’s contributions to Hollywood because I was very young. But his film with Charlie Chaplin, “The Kid,” was released in 1921. And he started filming in 1919. There was a path to follow and I just hopped on board.

But as a child, I was very social. I could hit my marks and say my lines. My mother taught me how to read at a very young age. I got my union card at 6 and I haven’t stopped since… Not a lot of businesses pay you to go play make-believe.

ӣ��Ƶ: Growing up, did you have any kind of interaction with your grandfather Jackie Coogan?
Coogan: I was so lucky - I did. He had retired to Palm Springs with my grandmother, who was a showgirl. We lived in Malibu and they’d come out during the summers and spend it with us. He passed away in ’84 when I was 14. So I did get to know him and spend some time with him.

I remember he was very competitive. I was about 12 years old and I had won a Young Artist Award for appearing on “Knight Rider.” At the time, he was also receiving a Lifetime Achievement Award. I remember we were both holding our awards and I said, “Look, grandpa, mine’s just like yours!” And he goes, “No, they're not. They’re different. You won yours. I earned mine!”

Coogan: My mother was an anchor. I worked in this crazy business, but she made sure my life remained as normal as possible. I went to public school, play little league and did lots of chores -- she insisted on lots of chores. And I had to maintain my good grades in order to keep working. If I got a B, it was a red alert in the house. And my family didn’t put me on any kind of pedestal. If my show’s ratings were low, my mother would turn to me and say, “I have notes.” She was all about discipline and learning. You have to take your ego out of it.

ӣ��Ƶ: What’s a fun fact about “Adventures in Babysitting” that would surprise fans today?
Coogan: There were a lot of screen tests involving many actors. For example, Jennifer Love Hewitt tried out for the younger sister. We had Valerie Bertinelli read for the babysitter role. But once that was done, the movie was completed very quickly. We shot for two months in Toronto, came down to Chicago for several weeks and then did some special shots in Los Angeles for about a week. And that was it. We shot in January and February, wrapped up in March and released it in July.

Vincent D’Onofrio was an amazing method actor who took his role very seriously even when cameras stopped rolling. Elisabeth Shue was a dream to work with, especially as a 17-year-old *laughs*. And the director, Chris Columbus, was a gracious and passionate director. We had a lot of fun bringing that film to life, but it was a whirlwind.

Coogan: It was a dream come true because she was already a very dear friend for years. She was part of that circle of Hollywood kids who hung out together at functions. But not only is she so talented, but she’s incredibly intelligent and a genius comic in front of a camera. She knows how to play dumb in a very smart way. Kelly Bundy is one of the greatest characterizations in the history of mankind, but that was her creation.

In “Don’t Tell Mom” she was very much herself. She was in every scene of the movie and did it gracious every day. She never complained. Instead, it was, “How do we do this?” “How do we make it work?” And that’s remarkable for someone of her age. But the cast in itself was just fantastic. We were in very good company and I think the film speaks for itself.

ӣ��Ƶ: Do you believe Hollywood will be able to successfully adapt amid the coronavirus pandemic?
Coogan: Oh, it’ll quickly adapt. I know there are many productions that will aim to have smaller crews instead of having 100 people on set. There will be much more screening and testing. There are guidelines and plans being worked on. I don’t think Hollywood is taking this lightly. If anything, it will go above and beyond to make sure that everyone, from the actors to the crew, is safe while working.

Coogan: It’s interesting, most of us as child stars did our work in the ‘70s and ‘80s. We were in the same circles and perhaps even worked together but we never really had the opportunity to sit down and share our experiences.

But because we had this unusual upbringing, we’ve developed a deep bond. It’s a unique experience to enter a professional working environment when you’re a single-digit age. And it’s hard for someone to truly understand it unless they themselves have done it. It’s been great keeping busy now, but it’s even more wonderful we can talk to each other and support each other in different ways.

ӣ��Ƶ: How have you managed to keep a positive outlook during times of uncertainty?
Coogan: Entertainment is my comfort food. I think relying on your favorite films, TV shows - they all help during unprecedented times. I miss going to the movie theater and enjoying a new film with popcorn and soda, but there are more important things to worry about right now. I guess the key is to be grateful for what you have at this moment. And for me, I’m grateful for entertainment and finding creative ways to entertain others.

For Kevin Bacon, one of the secrets behind his lasting marriage is finding someone who truly understands his Hollywood career.

“Kyra [Sedgwick] and I believe in each other as actors, as directors and as a talent,” the actor told People magazine on Monday. “She doesn’t have a competitive bone in her body when it comes to me. She takes my successes as hers. I’m the same way.”

The 62-year-old married the 54-year-old actress in 1988. Together, they share a 28-year-old daughter, Sosie, as well as a 31-year-old son, Travis.

He is currently starring in a new horror film alongside Amanda Seyfried titled “You Should Have Left.”

As for Sedgwick, her first credited role was that of Julie Shearer in the ‘80s TV series “Another World” and she has kept busy over the years, including taking on the role of Brenda Leigh Johnson in “The Closer.”

The longer a celebrity stays in the competition, the more money they raise for their charity of choice. In the series, which is hosted by Mayim Bialik, Spelling will virtually officiate a wedding.

The 47-year-old spoke to ӣ��Ƶ about appearing in “Celebrity Show-Off,” being an ordained minister, quarantining with husband Dean McDermott, raising five kids and how she copes with trolls on social media.

ӣ��Ƶ: Where did the idea to appear in “Celebrity Show-Off” come from?
Tori Spelling: It came about during a time when we were on major lockdown and nothing was happening. I thought, "What a great opportunity to be able to do something, play for charity, and entertain people across the world."

I wanted to do it. I also specifically really wanted to celebrate celebrations for people. I knew people were missing weddings, and birthdays, and baby showers, and just everything. I love party planning, so I kind of saw an in there to be able to do something for them virtually.

ӣ��Ƶ: You’re an ordained minister. What made you take on that role?
Spelling: I actually got ordained, gosh, 15 years ago now, I think, for a couple that just wanted me to marry them. So I did it. This couple that I married virtually [on “Celebrity Show-Off”], I think they're my seventh couple that I've married.

ӣ��Ƶ: As someone who's been married for 14 years now, what would you say has been the secret behind your lasting marriage? What advice would you give that couple?
Spelling: I know when I meet people that have been married 34 years, I'm just like, "What's the secret?" I think communication. I think we're always evolving and changing, and it's important to keep checking in and make sure that you're evolving together.

ӣ��Ƶ: How did you and Dean McDermott make it work during quarantine, a testing time for many couples?
Spelling: We’ve actually, I think, gotten along better during quarantine because we are with our family. I love being with my kids. That was an easy one being with them 24/7. You have to go to work and go to meetings, you're just going to the next room to do Zoom. It's actually worked in our favor. We have planned a lot more meals and kind of done things outside the box, thinking creatively. It's brought us closer.

ӣ��Ƶ: What would you say has been the biggest challenge you've been facing as a mom of five these days?
Spelling: That would be homeschool. I'm definitely not going to be adding school teacher to my resume. I failed at that. But it was difficult with four. I mean, my baby doesn't do it, but with the other four, having to transition into that world is just very different. I know it's been hard for moms everywhere, but we're getting through it.

ӣ��Ƶ: You've always been very candid with your fans, especially on social media. How important has it been for you to be so open despite dealing with trolls?
Spelling: Oh, I'm used to them. I mean, ever since back in the day in the '90s, there were online trolls. It was just the social media aspect was different. There were still chat rooms and things, and you could still read people writing horrible comments. It's just obviously more in your face nowadays, because it's right there on Instagram, and Facebook, and Twitter.

I don't know. I still do. I feel like the thing that has kept me really engaged with everyone is that I'm authentic. Maybe sometimes an overshare, but it's what I really enjoyed about this experience and this journey and my career is becoming close with my fans and having that connection. A lot of them, they become your community, they become your friends. I love sharing everything. I wouldn't change it.

ӣ��Ƶ: Would you ever consider doing another Lifetime film?
Spelling: Totally. I loved being like the TV movie queen back in the day, and I still watch all those films, too. I'm a fan of Lifetime as well. Yeah, I definitely would love to do some more. I have a lot of ideas.

During that time period, it was pretty much all women in peril movies, but we always prevailed at the end. I mean, I just used to love the titles, to be honest; "Mother, May I Sleep with Danger?," "Co-ed Call Girl." I had some doozies.

ӣ��Ƶ: Do you have any advice on how people can stay connected with loved ones now more than ever?
Spelling: I mean, Zoom has been an amazing tool. Sometimes I just get on Zoom with my girlfriends, and it's moms' night in. You have a cocktail and you're just in the other room. It's been such a great tool. I know sometimes when things weren't on lockdown, it was really difficult for people to connect and see each other because of expenses, flying places to see family. Now we can kind of do it virtually. It's not exactly the same, and it's the new normal, but you can still really make it work and stay connected.

For Dennis Quaid and Laura Savoie, faith is what brought them together.

The actor told People magazine on Tuesday that his love for the doctoral student has been fueled by their shared beliefs.

“We’re both Christians, and right from the start God has always had a hand in the relationship,” the 66-year-old said of the 27-year-old. “I think that’s where the real strength comes from.”

The couple -- who got engaged last October -- eloped in Santa Babara, Calif., and were married at a seaside resort on June 2. They originally planned a wedding in April in Hawaii, along with a second reception for family and friends in Nashville. However, the two had to postpone the festivities amid the coronavirus pandemic.

“With the quarantine, it hasn’t been easy,” Savoie told the outlet. “And when you just pray together and say that this is where I’m having a hard time, help us be the people we’re supposed to be towards each other. It changes everything.

“It brings you back to being loving and kind towards each other and working through those things that inevitably come up,” she continued. “And it’s just the greatest source of strength in our relationship to have, to share that.”

Quaid and Savoie ultimately exchanged traditional vows with only their pastor as a witness.

“Everyone asks if you feel different [after being pronounced husband and wife] and I think it was just with everything that happened to have it actually done, it was kind of feeling of freedom, I think,” said Quaid. “It was really a freedom that we can really start our lives together.

“Just looking into her eyes, she was the most stunning bride,” he added.

According to the outlet, the couple began dating in May 2019 after being introduced at a business event.

Savoie, originally from St. Louis, attended Pepperdine University, where she was class valedictorian, the outlet reported. She went on to get a master’s degree in accountancy at the University of Notre Dame.

“It was love at first sight,” said Quaid. “I just love who she is as a person. Her character, her intelligence, of course, her beauty. And her point of view of the world.”

Quaid and Savoie hope to enjoy a honeymoon in the next month or so, along with a reception for family and friends. But for now, Quaid said they’re simply looking forward to “just sharing our lives together.”

“She’s the greatest person I ever met,” he said. “I love waking up and spending every day with her.”

In late 2019, Quaid opened up to The Guardian about facing criticism for dating a younger woman.

“That was really a laugh,” he said at the time. “I thought it was wonderful actually.”

The “Parent Trap” star said that he and Savoie aren’t taking the commentary personally.

“No, it really doesn’t bother us,” he insisted. “Everyone comes from the perspective of their own life and so I can’t comment on the way they feel; I can’t even get angry.”

Quaid also shared it was never his intention to find someone Savoie’s age.

“I didn’t go out looking for an age gap or someone really younger than me,” he explained. “I met her at a business event and then the relationship developed.

“You have no control over who you fall in love with,” he continued. “I don’t fall in love easily. But I can’t let what a few people think control all that. I’ve been married three times and this is the final one, I know it is. I feel like I have a real partner in life.”

Quaid previously dated longtime girlfriend Santa Auzina, whom he was last photographed with in December 2018, People magazine reported. The couple, who were together for a little over two years, began dating after Quaid split from his wife of 12 years, Kimberly Buffington, in 2016. The former pair finalized their divorced in April 2018.

Quaid was previously married to actress Meg Ryan. The 10-year marriage ended in 2001.

And before that, Quaid was married to actress P.J. Soles from 1978 until 1983.

The 30-year-old got candid about being pregnant amid the ongoing coronavirus pandemic in an Instagram Live chat with Dr. Zelana Montminy on Thursday. It was there that the “Gift of Forgiveness” author gushed that the actor, 40, has been “very understanding” during these unprecedented times.

“I’m really lucky to be living in very close proximity to my family, which has been very helpful,” she said, adding that the “Jurassic World” star has been “a very wonderful husband.”

“It’s been amazing having him home and also very understanding about my need to sanitize everything, having everyone wear masks all the time,” she continued. “That’s been helpful.”

“Katherine is doing well, and Chris has been taking care of her,” said the insider. “Katherine still calls him her dream husband. They are very happy together. Chris has been doting on Katherine and the pregnancy has brought them even closer.”

Back in May, Pratt joked to Extra that he’s “gained a little weight” since social distancing with his pregnant wife.

Prince William admitted he spent plenty of time in the kitchen during lockdown.

The British royal made his first public appearance on Tuesday since the coronavirus pandemic hit the U.K., People magazine reported on Wednesday. The 37-year-old visited ambulance workers in Norfolk and got candid about the extra time he had at home.

“I’m worried about the waistline of the nation as well with all the chocolate and cakes,” said the father of three, as reported by the outlet. “I’ve done a lot of baking at home. Chocolate goes down very well.”

William previously revealed his weakness for chocolate during Easter when he and his wife Kate Middleton participated in their first-ever royal engagement via video call with a school.

“There will be a lot of chocolate being eaten here, don’t worry!” he boasted at the time.

In late 2019, Camille Schrier stunned the world when she won the crown for Miss America just minutes after giving a colorful chemistry demonstration in a lab coat.

It was the second year in a row that the female candidates hailing from all 50 states and the District of Columbia were not judged in a swimsuit or how they looked in an evening gown. Instead, a series of interviews and talent demonstrations helped determine who was qualified for the “job,” or a one-ear paid position that comes with a $50,000 scholarship.

The Virginian biochemist, who spoke on stage about having tackled an eating disorder, said she decided to compete for Miss America after the swimsuit competition was ditched. She was determined to “break stereotypes about what it means to be a Miss America in 2020” by being a “woman of science.”

The 24-year-old is now determined to show children how science can be fun. She teamed up with 3M, which has launched Science at Home, an online program tailored for students ages 6-12 that offers simple experiments that can be conducted with commonly found household items.

Schrier spoke to ӣ��Ƶ about being a modern Miss America, taking on her reign during quarantine, as well as what the role has taught her about our country and its people.

ӣ��Ƶ: Looking back, what made you want to try out for Miss America?
Camille Schrier: When I was a teenager, I wasn’t necessarily shy, but I didn’t really have any public speaking experience or interview experience. And so, I was looking for a way to gain those skills before I went into college. So I competed in a couple of organizations that were similar to Miss America. I really had fun with them. It was a great way to learn presentation skills that you don’t necessarily get in the classroom… And Miss America’s kind of like the Super Bowl.

I didn’t have any traditional performing talents. And in Miss America, you see women who sing, dance, play instruments… I don’t possess any of those talents. And nobody wants to see me do any of those things. I wanted to represent who I was as a person. And I wanted to chance to gain scholarship money. By winning Miss America, I’ve also won over $77,000 to pay for my graduate school.

ӣ��Ƶ: Where did the idea to do a science experiment as a talent come from?
Schrier: I had to figure out what I was going to do for a talent presentation. So, I ended up doing a science demonstration. Some people thought I was completely crazy to do that, but I’m so glad that I did because more than anything, it was the perfect representation of me as a person.

When I was thinking about Miss America, I wasn’t really keen on the idea of being judge by my body. And then the swimsuit competition was removed. I entered in 2019 because I was not interested in competing in that portion of the competition. More power to anyone who would like to, but that wasn’t who I was… It gave me the platform to do science on stage. I didn’t know how that would be accepted, but it went really well. And it’s opened up so many doors for me. I’m so glad I did it.

ӣ��Ƶ: Many people were shocked when Miss America announced it would eliminate the swimsuit competition. How do you think the organization handled that change?
Schrier: There’s a real divide still with people who would rather see the more traditional Miss America. And there are people like who are so thrilled by that idea. I think everyone is entitled to their own opinion.

But for me, it was exactly what made me want to come and compete. I think we’re so used to the normalcy of seeing women’s bodies and seeing women in swimsuits on ads. We rarely in our media see women who are put forward because of what they can offer with [their] intelligence and experience. That is what frustrates me [with] our world.

I think that everyone has the right to be able to do whatever feels comfortable for them. But… I fought body image issues throughout my life. I’ve struggled with mental health disorders. I’ve struggled with eating disorders. And so for me, it wouldn’t have been healthy to put that kind of pressure on myself. And it gave me the opportunity to solely focus on what I could offer with my education and my experience in public speaking, and what I could bring to the organization independently of what I looked like. And that was really freeing for me.

I think that it's a huge move forward. Our organization has really since the 1930s has been based upon scholarship. Miss America alone wins $50,000 of scholarship money and a salary to pay for her year. So we've always been based upon scholarship and what we could offer to our communities. And I think a lot of that was overshadowed by things like the swimsuit competition, which kind of took the focus away from what had always been there. So I'm really proud to be part of the new wave of Miss America. It's what brought me there. I'm proud to represent it every single day.

ӣ��Ƶ: Were you ever nervous the science experiment was going to backfire on stage?
Schrier: Here’s the cool thing about science - once you know how to put together the procedure of the reaction, and you have your chemicals, you have your supplies, you’ve done it before, it’s going to work every time. I was more worried about how it was going to be received by people. This is a 100-year-old organization that has had longstanding traditions. I’m going to come in there and basically break that all apart really quickly. How are people going to view me? Am I going to come in last place? I kind of expected to.

I knew the science was going to work, I didn’t think it was going to work in helping me be successful. I was prepared to walk away with nothing. But I think the idea of it being so different than anything else that people had done was exactly what made me successful… More than anything, I think it showed the judges that I wasn’t afraid to take a risk.

ӣ��Ƶ: How has your role as Miss America changed the way you view our country and it’s people?
Schrier: It’s really been humbling for me. I grew up in a wonderful community. I had access to a great education, I had a family that was loving. I had everything that I needed as a young person, and I’m really lucky for that. But when you go out, travel this country and meet people who had none of that - you learn about their struggles, especially families who have been affected by addiction. You learn about communities that don’t have access to the same resources and education I grew up with.

It really makes me understand the complex issues that exist in our country today… I never got to see that firsthand [growing up]. I’ve met those children who go home to parents who are addicted to opioids and other types of drugs. I truly feel for them. And it gives me an entirely different perspective. I think it’s very humbling. And it only makes me want to impact change throughout the country. It’s one thing to understand and know of the issues that other people go through, even if you don’t go through them yourself. But this has further empowered me to do what I can to make a change. And we have so much to do.

ӣ��Ƶ: As a biochemist, how important has it been for you to show kids that science can actually be fun?
Schrier: That's my primary message really. I was that kid who loved science. I mean, from every aspect of what I did as a young person, I loved science. It was so fun for me. And I think that was because of the people who were around me, mentoring me and exposing me to how fun science could be.

It can be this kind of scary, intimidating subject for students because they see that as the hard class in school. But if they can have a perspective of understanding the relevance of why science is important in their lives and also how exciting it can be, it can… give them some motivation to push through those challenging moments. And that's really what I get to do every day, which is such a fun job, which is why I bring really fun demonstrations to kids. That is really the coolest thing that I can do. And to see the looks on their faces when I do that is like the icing on the cake for me.

ӣ��Ƶ: What are some fun ways that families can enjoy science from home?
Schrier: I think that one of the biggest things that I really enjoyed as a young person that made me love science, was getting in the kitchen with my parents. Cooking and baking are all science-related. It’s all biology and chemistry. And I started to understand that as a young person… But one of the other things that people can of course now is [use] these online resources to find science that you can do at home.

If you go on Science at Home, you can see all of the science videos we’ve created, both myself and the scientists at 3M. I am really grateful because I didn't have that kind of access to science education online just because of my age. We didn't have YouTube when I was growing up. So it's been a really fun thing for me to be able to do this for the young ones.

ӣ��Ƶ: Part of Miss America is traveling across the country and interacting with people. Since you’re in quarantine, how are you taking on your reign?
Schrier: It has changed everything quite literally. I’m usually changing cities between every 24 to 72 hours as Miss America. Now I have quite literally been in my house for two and a half months. During that first couple of weeks being here at home, I was trying to figure out ways that I could continue the work I was doing in some kind of virtual platform. And that became doing science videos… I have produced probably six to 10 science videos.

That has been a wonderful way to be able to continue my work. Now my job as Miss America is more than just science, of course. My real job as Miss America is to promote the Miss America Organization but also work on my own social impact initiative. And for me, that is drug safety and abuse prevention. So I have a lot of roles as Miss America. I'm talking about opioid abuse and how to keep kids safe with medications, but I'm also talking about science at the same time, and I've been doing podcasts.

I've been connecting with people, networking and finding ways that we can fight the drug abuse issue in our country from home. I wish I could do more with that from home, but it’s something hard to adapt to virtually. But being able to stay connected with my followers on social media, producing video content for parents… That has all been wonderful given the circumstances.

'To Catch a Beautician' star Tamar Braxton recalls horrifying hair mishap: ‘I was Tamar Patch Kid’

Tamar Braxton wants to keep it real.

The singer, reality TV star and sister of Grammy Award-winning artist Toni Braxton is teaming up with celebrity hairstylist Johnny Wright for VH1’s new series “To Catch a Beautician,” which rescues clients whose hair has been botched by a stylist from their past.

And having a bad hair day seriously hits close to home for the 43-year-old. She previously endured one horrifying mishap, which she says still haunts her to this day.

ӣ��Ƶ spoke to Braxon and Wright about some of the best and worst trends they’ve spotted from those in quarantine, what clients can expect when salons begin reopening amid the coronavirus pandemic, how anyone can achieve a healthy mane at home, as well as that one incident Braxton can never forget.

ӣ��Ƶ: Tamar, can you recall one hair mishap that still haunts you?
Tamar Braxton: Absolutely. Let me pick one out of a hat because it's a whole bunch. Well, I remember when I was maybe 14 years old, my sister was putting the system called New Era in my hair, and she forgot the neutralizing process of it. So my hair, all of my hair, came out. I had patches of hair. I was Tamar Patch Kid.

ӣ��Ƶ: What are some of the best and worst hair trends you've been seeing from people in quarantine?
Braxton: I hate to judge because we are all in this together. We are all jacked up out here in this quarantine street. I don't know. I think when you don't make an attempt... One of the things that I learned from the show is that you need to keep your hair hydrated. No matter how jacked up you are, no matter how much we all need to go to the stylist, make [sure] your hair is moisturized. It won't look as bad. So when you don't make an attempt, I think that that has been the quarantine no-no. Just try to put your hair in a ponytail, at least.

Johnny Wright: And for me, I think the quarantine trend that is cringing for me is when anybody cuts their own hair. I just can't take it. I want you to put the scissors away. Just wait until this is all over. We will come out of this, for sure.

ӣ��Ƶ: What advice would you give to anyone who’s unhappy with their look?
Wright: I say keep it real. I mean, I think communication is key. You have to tell the person how you feel. It's your money at the end of the day, and you need to be satisfied. I think if you leave that situation not communicating there with the stylist, I think it's even more difficult to explain it later on. So if you turn around in that hydraulic chair, and you look into that mirror, and you're not pleased with the person you see, you need to say something. See something, say something.

Braxton: And I would just have to add, don't wait till the last minute. I think that when we're getting our hair done, we can kind of tell when things are going wrong. I think you should speak up when things start to go wrong. So either that way the salon's going to have a chance to fix it, or they know from the jump that you're not satisfied.

ӣ��Ƶ: With the ongoing pandemic, what change would you like to see at salons?
Wright: Thankfully, I'm not in a salon on a regular basis anymore. I've spent a large part of my career in a salon. I've talked with some people, especially in Georgia, some friends of mine that are reopened.

They have to space out their clients so they're not sitting in the waiting area for so long. They probably have to do some type of temperature checking and things like that, making sure they don't come to the salon with any symptoms; using disposable capes and smocks, gloves, and things like that just to keep everyone safe; and also to shut down the salon every few hours to disinfect properly.

Another thing I want to add to the things that might change in a salon. People could expect some type of price increase, because they're not able to take as many clients, and they're going to have to be able to get those coins. So especially if you doing highlight jobs at home, they're going to have to do a lot of color correcting, which costs more.

ӣ��Ƶ: What's your favorite hair hack to achieving beautiful, healthy tresses at home?
Wright: It's steam treatment and keeping your hair moisturized, and doing a mask and leaving that on for a while. I love it when you use a great leave-in conditioner because your hair will continue to be nourished and moisturized. So things like that, I'm always happy. I'm always about healthy hair. So with that, you could have any trend. Instead of following trends, get healthy hair.

Braxton: I would just have to say leave your hair alone. It's okay. We are all jacked up together. This is going to be over soon, and even if it's not, guess what? Leave your hair alone. This is not the time for you to get creative and start putting color in it and all these chemicals in it. Just leave it alone. Moisturize and keep it moving. No chemicals during quarantine. How about that?

ӣ��Ƶ: Tamar, you are incredibly close to your family. How are you all handling quarantine?
Braxton: Well, it's a lot because this is the longest that I've been away from my mom. Thank God my mother's on social media now, so I don't get to miss her so much because she's cooking on there. She's having conversations on there. And my sisters and I often get on Zoom, and we FaceTime a lot, so that's been very helpful. But, just like everyone else, we all miss each other. It's hard to be away from our families, but just check in with them, and they check in with me, and so that's, basically, all we can do.

ӣ��Ƶ: What can audiences expect from a show like “To Catch a Beautician?"
Braxton: The audience is going to get their entire life, OK? They're going to have fun. They're going to relate. They're going to be emotional. Because the truth is everyone's had a bad hair day. And this show is all about having a bad hair day but fixing it at the end of the day. So you're going to get the whole rollercoaster ride.
Wright: Yeah, you get a little bit of everything. It's suspenseful, it's emotional, it's funny, and it's educational. So we hitting all the notes.

ӣ��Ƶ: Which botched job from this show left you truly speechless and why?
Wright: I don't want to give anything away. I think any time that someone lost a great amount of hair, and it either resulted in some type of bald spot, that was very hard for me. And I felt like that was very traumatic for the client, and I totally understood her emotion and why they were in that position in the first place. So, I don't want to give anything away, but those were always so cringing for me.

“The most beautiful girl in the world” is giving her 3.6 million followers a sneak peek into her life while on lockdown.

Thylane Blondeau, who is currently isolating in her Paris apartment amid the coronavirus pandemic, has taken to Instagram show off how she’s social distancing in style.

The 19-year-old posted several photos of her swanky home, which features a large rooftop terrace, a minimalistic interior design, skull ornaments, as well as numerous pieces of artwork.

The model is also maintaining her famous features by applying face masks in her bathroom as part of an at-home spa experience.

“Checking that everyone is wearing their mask outside,” she remarked in one selfie, referring to facial coverings being used to minimize the chances of contracting COVID-19.

Blondeau is the daughter of French soccer star Patrick Blondeau and former television presenter Veronika Loubry.

Blondeau was just four years old when she walked for French couture designer Jean Paul Gaultier. At age 6, she appeared in a now-iconic photo that earned her the accolade of “Most Beautiful Girl in the World” by the press.

Then at age 10, she starred in the Vogue Paris supplement, Vogue Enfants, Glamour magazine UK reported. The image stirred controversy for depicting the child posing in a gold dress while wearing high heels and makeup.

At age 13, Blondeau took on acting, appearing in “Belle & Sebastian: The Adventure Continues.”

Blondeau successfully transitioned as a child model in the fashion world. In Feb. 2017, she made her adult runway debut for Dolce & Gabbana during Milan Fashion Week. She was invited for the couture designer to participate in the Sept. 2017 show. Blondeau also became the brand ambassador for L’Oreal and the face of a perfume by French designer Lolita Lempicka.

In 2018, her looks earned her a new title – that of “Most Beautiful Face.” The ranking was done by independentcritics.com, specifically by professional film critic TC Chandler. Other names on the list included Priyanka Chopra, Gal Gadot and Lupita Nyong’o, among others.

Blondeau previously told Frivolette she isn’t fazed by her growing fame over the years.

“You know, this does not affect me in any way,” she told the outlet. “I’m still young, I’m pleased. And I try to do anything for the ‘Thylaners’ (her fan base). I talk with them all the time, and often my mother helps me to answer messages.”

Brooke Shields, who just turned the big 5-5, believes the secret to aging gracefully is keeping things super simple.

“I’m constantly trying to find new things that I love, but I’ve also stopped looking for the miracles,” the actress told ӣ��Ƶ. “My routine is very simple - keep your face clean and moisturized. I’m not good with six or seven steps with serums, layers, or anything else I need to add on top. I don’t have that kind of time. But I do keep my face clean at all times and stick with products that are lanolin and petroleum-free.

“I know ‘organic’ and ‘natural’ are totally different, but I try to keep my skincare routine as healthy as I can,” she shared. “I’m not putting harsh chemicals on my face.”

The “Pretty Baby” star recently kicked off the summer season on social media by posting a photo of herself rocking a neon orange bikini while she soaked up the sun. Shields admitted she wasn’t always confident rocking a swimsuit, but shopping for the right look has gotten easier over the years, which has helped her experiment in trying on different looks and styles to see which truly suits her curves.

“Thank God you can do everything online now,” she chuckled. “But lighting has so much to do with it, too. Self-tanner helps. Getting a little color on your body, even if you’re hanging out in your backyard, is good too. Those are little things that help you prepare when it comes time to try on swimsuits. It helps you really see how it would look like if you were to wear it out. And I think it’s helpful to try on different sizes. Order a variety of sizes, even if you think it’s one that you think wouldn’t work for you.”

Shields said she likes trying on swimsuits from the comfort of home, as opposed to a fitting room, because it allows her to take a good look at herself in private under flattering light. She even recalled one time when her daughters, 17 and 14, shared their own advice on finding the right suit.

“I used to wear full coverage bathing suits because I thought those were safe,” she explained. “But one day, my daughters came up to me and said, ‘It makes you look bigger.’ I was like, ‘How is that even possible?’ But after trying on different styles, I’ve learned that there are certain cuts, certain pieces that will work with your silhouette. But you won’t know that unless you get out of your comfort zone and try different looks out. I don’t want to feel so-so. I want to feel really good. That means highlighting the things you really love about yourself and being kind to the areas you’re not so fond of.

“Try different looks on and be really honest with yourself,” she continued. “And just remember - nobody has the perfect anything. Yes, there are a very few select bodies out there that seem to look perfect, but it’s really unfair for us to look at another body and go, ‘That’s ideal, that’s exactly who I need to be.’ It’s just not true. The more we start celebrating our bodies, no matter where we are in life, the most we will feel better about ourselves. I’m always about self-improvement. I don’t want to feel bad about myself. But I want to improve on being a better me, not a better anyone else.”

Shields, who appeared on Vogue when she was just 14 years old, also noted confidence goes a long way in looking and feeling good about yourself. The star suggested a booster exercise -- look in the mirror while rocking a swimsuit and say something positive about yourself.

“You’d be surprised at how much this changes everything,” she said. “Saying something like, ‘That’s right, I have a curvy butt’ instead of ‘I’ve got a fat a--‘ goes a long way. It can be hard to do at first. But I think practicing daily eventually changes your outlook. I like a little self-tanner and the right lighting when I take a picture. It makes me feel so much better. And on days when you don’t feel so great, try a sheer cover-up if that means it will make you feel more beautiful. But really, the whole goal is to celebrate who you are. The more you do that, the healthier your mind, body and spirit will be. There is no such thing as perfection -- you are enough.”

Shields began her career in Hollywood when she was just 11 months old and became one of the most recognizable faces in the world by 16. Growing up under the harsh media spotlight was challenging at times for Shields, but aging has taught her plenty of lessons on self-acceptance over the years.

“My industry teaches insecurities,” she explained. “Being a female, you’re constantly told, ‘You need this’ or ‘You need that.’ You were never quite good enough. I became a perfectionist. I think, if I could go back in time, I would have spent fewer years feeling insecure. I would have celebrated my whole self more. I would have loved to have said to myself, ‘Hey, you’re doing just fine. You don’t have to be anything more than who you are. Be kind to yourself.’ You can waste a lot of years trying to prove you’re something else, which is unnecessary and unfair.”

Shields recently told ӣ��Ƶ she had taken to Instagram to share her at-home workout routines amid the coronavirus pandemic. It has helped her get creative and find new ways to exercise. And with a little motivation, anything is possible.

“I say I work out four times a week,” she said. “And I do one day of rest or one day of yoga or just one day of walking. I try to vary it. You can lift things that are heavy, a dishrag can give an unbelievable hamstring workout. Even vacuuming the house nonstop can break a sweat. I think it’s all about committing to doing something, whether it’s an online yoga class, a Zoom session with a trainer -- it becomes more of an opportunity than a chore.”

When it comes to motivation, Shields said some days are easier than others. Still, she insisted that changing things up each day and making use of household items have kept her committed to exercising whenever possible.

“I had to change the way I think about it because I can’t say that I enjoy working out,” she explained. “I enjoy the feeling after. When you have a place to go, all you have to do is just get there and an hour goes by. But when you don’t even leave the house, it’s hard to get motivated. What I started doing is mentally telling myself, ‘Nobody’s telling you to do this. Why don’t you give it a try?’ You may not want to, but nine out of 10 times, you’re going to feel so much better afterward. Even setting 20 minutes aside makes a big difference. I think it helps to have smaller expectations rather than having these big goals and yet you’re not even sure why you have them.

“I have no idea when my work is going to happen,” Shields shared. “So there’s that ego part of it where you’re like, ‘I’ve gotta get ready for this movie or show.’ That was a motivator because I would like to try to look my best. But when you don’t have that as a goal, you have to find another reason to allow yourself to care about your health.

“You can lift gallons of milk,” Shields suggested. “I like to joke that you can do bicep curls with a bottle of tequila. Make it less of a chore. And once you start, you [start] to think, ‘I can do almost anything for an hour.’”
