Services from top religious leaders you can watch online this Sunday

Millions of Americans will be watching religious services online this weekend after President Trump and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) issued guidance that groups larger than 10 should not meet to help slow the spread of the coronavirus.

ӣ��Ƶ Channel chief religion correspondent Lauren Green reports pastors and worship leaders are reaching out using technology with Instagram Live, YouTube, Facebook, and other platforms throughout the week offering prayer and community that congregations depend on.

AMID CORONAVIRUS SHUTDOWNS, CHURCHES OFFER DRIVE-THRU PRAYER, DRIVE-IN SERVICE

FoxNews.com will be livestreaming the Tree of Life Synagogue service on Friday night and Saturday morning, and St. Patrick's Cathedral and Free Chapel's services on Sunday morning. You can also view Mel Gibson's "The Passion of the Christ" on Fox Nation.

Evangelical

Jentezen Franklin's Free Chapel service in Gainesville, Ga., saw its largest online audience with 1.1 million views last Sunday, after President Trump tweeted out he would be watching the special National Day of Prayer service that has more than 11,500 members across several campuses.

This coming Sunday, streaming at 9 and 11 a.m. EDT, Franklin will be preaching about moving from fear-based to faith-based living: "If you want to avoid despair, keep praying, keep trusting God, and keep encouraging one another," Franklin told ӣ��Ƶ.

Joel Osteen's 52,000-member Lakewood Church also reported its largest audience on Sunday, with 4.51 million people tuning in. This broke a previous record from last year, when they broadcast Kanye West's Sunday Service. The megachurch, which was one of the first to cancel public gatherings amid the coronavirus outbreak, will have services at 8:30 and 11 a.m. this Sunday.

Dr. Robert Jeffress, a ӣ��Ƶ contributor and the pastor of First Baptist Church of Dallas, Texas, will be preaching a sermon titled "Choosing Faith Over Worry" at two live services, 10:20 a.m. and noon EDT, with the 300-voice choir recorded. It is the first time in the church's 152-year history they will not be meeting in person.

"People need hope," Jeffress told ӣ��Ƶ. "That's what the Christian faith offers, it offers hope in an uncertain world."

Judah Smith's Churchome, with locations in Seattle and Los Angeles and an app that allows the church to be all over the world, offers daily guided prayers like "Let Go of Fear," a pastor chat app, and services at 9 a.m., noon, 3, and 6 p.m. EDT.

WHAT IS THE 'CHRISTIAN RESPONSE' TO THE CORONAVIRUS? PASTORS URGE FAITH OVER FEAR

Joseph Prince, pastor of the 33,000-member New Creation Church in Singapore, will be livestreaming on YouTube at 8 a.m. EDT on repeat until 10 p.m. In a message to ӣ��Ƶ, he pointed to 2 Thessalonians 3:3 which says, "But the Lord is faithful, who shall establish you, and keep you from evil."

"Being kept from evil does not depend on our smartness," Prince explained. "It's not about our own faithfulness. Being kept from evil today depends on the Lord's faithfulness!"

Levi Lusko, pastor of Fresh Life Church, told ӣ��Ƶ he will be preaching part two of a series called "Easter People," with online services at 11 a.m., 1 p.m. and 5 p.m. EDT.

Ed Stetzer, the pastor of Moody Church in downtown Chicago, said he will be preaching live at 10 a.m. and 5 p.m.

"This moment is a time for the church to rise up on mission, not pause and hide in worry," Stetzer told ӣ��Ƶ. "We can do this in new ways, while still meeting size and social distancing directions, because that’s what churches should do in times like this — rise up and show and share the love of Jesus."

Catholic

Archbishop of New York Timothy Cardinal Dolan will be leading Mass from St. Patrick's Cathedral in New York City at 10:15 a.m. EDT, which will be live on FoxNews.com, sharing the message of Jesus to not worry and be not afraid.

"We're never alone," Dolan told "Fox & Friends" this week. "We're never alone when we pray. We're always with God. We're always with the angels and saints of heaven. We're always with one another, what we call the communion of saints..."

Our Lady of the Angels Chapel in Irondale, Ala., will be livestreaming daily Mass on EWTN.

Jewish

Rabbi Jeffrey Myers of Tree of Life Synagogue in Pittsburgh, Penn., where in Oct. 2018 a gunman killed 11 congregants, is streaming a Friday night Shabbat service at 6 p.m. EDT and Saturday morning service at 10 a.m. through zoom, with study on the text.

"My message is one of hope and resiliency based upon all that we're seeing," Myers told ӣ��Ƶ. "When you're sharing the news, the factual pieces are all doom, sadness, etc. ...They also need to have words of hope. That there are people out there who are doing amazingly good, wonderful things."

He added, "The best of humanity shines forth at times like this and we need to be reminded of that."

Life.Church, based out of Edmonton, Okla., is stepping up to help any churches that are not already online to be able to stream services. TBN made a tutorial titled "How to Stream Your Church Service Using Facebook Live." For smaller churches or those with elderly staff or population, it may not be feasible.

What is the 'Christian response' to the coronavirus? Pastors urge faith over fear

With fear of the coronavirus outbreak on a global scale, many are turning to faith leaders to see how they respond.

Several megachurch pastors around the world tackled the new virus in their sermons and through services, encouraging washing of hands and disinfecting common areas while cutting back on communal contact during greetings, communion, and offering times.

CHRISTIAN PASTOR: 'LORD SHOWED ME THE END OF THE CORONAVIRUS'

Joseph Prince, pastor of New Creation Church (NCC) in Singapore, told ӣ��Ƶ believers should respond to the new virus with "both faith and wisdom."

The leader of a congregation with 33,000 members in a country that saw some of the first cases outside of China has kept his church open with state-of-the-art sanitation and detectors, while others went to only being online as Singapore has 160 confirmed cases with no reported deaths.

"Be wise to take the necessary precautions," Prince said, "but at the same time, pray the prayer of protection found in Psalms 91 daily. I encourage all believers to speak the promises of God's protection over yourself and your entire household and church."

In a mid-February sermon, the Christian author shared a testimony of healing from one of the church members and shared how in 2018 he said a flu-like virus would come but God has already released a new "strain" of healing among his people, focusing on the passage from Psalm 91:3, “Surely he shall deliver you from the snare of the fowler and from the perilous pestilence.”

Greg Laurie, pastor of Harvest Christian Fellowship, which has congregations in multiple locations in California and in Hawaii, said, "In some ways the viral fear may be worse than the virus itself."

He said Christians should be practical, prayerful, and proclaim Christ's peace in an atmosphere of fear.

"Don't worry about it, pray about it," Laurie told his church in a clip posted on Instagram. "God is bigger than the coronavirus. Don't be afraid."

From the Catholic Church in Rome to smaller churches throughout the United States, many congregations have gone online, swapped hugs and handshakes for other types of greetings, and stopped serving Communion and passing offering plates to prevent the spread of the virus.

But pastors like Brian Tome of Crossroads Church in Cincinnati told ӣ��Ƶ he's planning on preaching to thousands this weekend, and that choosing not to close the church doors was an easy decision for him.

"Hundreds of times in the Bible, God tells his people to not worry; to stop their fears; to be brave and courageous," Tome said. "When everyone else is running for cover, we choose to follow God into the fire. Jesus told his followers not to worry about tomorrow, but to focus their mental energy on the problems of today. Do you currently have coronavirus? Probably not. Do you know anyone with coronavirus? Me neither. We’re following the command of Jesus and choosing not to engage in fear. Instead, we choose to worship, to give time, attention, and gratitude back to God."

Last week, Craig Groeschel, Life.Church senior pastor, announced that he has self-quarantined after someone at a conference he attended in Germany tested positive, but a DC-area priest, who thought he had a flu and had recovered, tested positive after he went back to his church with the coronavirus. Now in the hospital, his congregation is being urged to self-quarantine by the mayor.

Singapore megachurch moves online as coronavirus spreads in country

A megachurch in Singapore that boasts a congregation of 16,000 announced Sunday it is moving its worship to an online forum, halting all services in person due to the rising number of coronavirus cases in the city-state.

Fear continues to spread in the international travel hub where two new cases were announced Monday, bringing the total to 75. As officials have yet to announce the halting of the CONID-19 virus, City Harvest Church announced they will no longer meet in person.

"The leadership has been deliberating over what is the wisest and most responsible thing to do for our church in view of the increasing number of cases of COVID-19 in this past week," Rev. Ho Yeow Sun said in a Facebook video.

"This is a temporary measure," she added, in speaking of the switch to online. "I look forward to the day when the situation stabilizes and we can all come back together for service again."

The Catholic Church, along with other places of worship, including the Grace Assembly of God Church and Life Church and Missions Singapore, which had 13 cases linked to them, also stopped hosting services indefinitely, The Straits Times reported.

But Singapore's Ministry of Health says "worship services may continue, but with appropriate precautionary measures."

New Creation Church, the megachurch with more than 33,000 members pastored by Joseph Prince, held services Sunday with "all precautions in place," including state-of-the-art thermal scanners, hand sanitizers and enhanced sanitization of high-traffic places such as lobbies, bathrooms and elevators.

Earlier in the month, Prince shared a sermon titled "Protections From Deadly Viruses – Answers From Psalm 91," in which he told his members, "Child of God, you need not fear. You and your family are safe in the care and protection of your heavenly Father!"

Brian Thomas, who works as a logistics driver and attends church in the Bugis area, told the South China Morning Post that although the number of cases involving religious congregants is "alarming," he believes church officials are taking necessary precautions.

“It will be a knee-jerk reaction to stop all church sessions across the country (at this point),” Thomas said. “Without the help of religion in our lives to calm people, I think it could lead to even more panic.”

Joseph Prince, a Singapore-based megachurch pastor who has been called a missionary to America and is credited with starting a "Gospel of Grace Revolution," is touring the United States with a "simple" message for the nation. He's sharing about the power of the Holy Communion, something he talks about in his latest book.

The senior pastor of New Creation Church talked to ӣ��Ƶ after the first stop on his U.S. tour of worship nights in New York City before his event in Washington, D.C., where he was invited to the White House to meet with Vice President Mike Pence and pray over him.

"I feel what America needs is to return back to the gospel of grace," Prince said after his sold-out event at Madison Square Garden. "I hear a lot of preaching...that emphasizes you, not what God has done," which he calls "the biggest heresy" today.

"The gospel is all about grace. Grace is not a teaching, it is a person of Jesus," Prince added. "It's actually the gospel."

He says a lot of pastors and teachers today point their fingers at what they're against, robbing believers of the good news. And for the New York Times best-selling author, whose new book is called "Eat Your Way to Life and Health: Unlock the power of the Holy Communion," it's something he learned himself, which he calls a "neglected but very powerful truth."

"I believe that the Lord gave me a mission to teach on the health-giving, life-imparting, healing power of the Communion," Prince said, explaining on why he wrote the book about a sacrament that some believers only partake of once a week or once a month, if at all. "I want them to know beyond a shadow of any doubt that God wants them healed, whole and well."

Prince calls Communion the "proverbial 'fountain of youth' mankind has been in search of for generations" and "is more powerful than any medicine, antibiotic, or medical procedure." He believes it can be the difference between life and death. He shares testimonies of people throughout the book who have been healed by the power of Holy Communion.

And Prince says he witnessed the power of Communion while writing his book. His six-year-old son, Justin, had two skull fractures and was bleeding and throwing up after he fell from a high place on the playground during recess. When the doctors said all they could give him was painkillers, Prince and his wife, Wendy, partook communion with their second-grader at the hospital.

"The amazing this was, we could literally see him getting better and better each time we partook," Prince said. Instead of taking six weeks to recover, as the doctors predicted, Justin was given the all-clear to return to school in just three weeks. "All glory to Jesus!" Prince said.

He encourages anyone who hasn't been healed or seen any changes to keep going - and believing.

"Don't give up. No matter what diagnosis you might have received from your doctor, keep filling your heart with scriptures," Prince said. "Keep listening to messages about the Lord's finished work and partaking of the Communion."

Prince said his faith in Jesus means everything and it's "not based on any legalistic human tradition but founded upon an intimate and meaningful relationship with my loving Savior."

Finding grace and peace in a world of bad news

Television, radio, social media. The 24/7 news cycle plows forward mercilessly on our desks, in our cars and in our pockets.

Thousands and thousands of messages and voices bombard us from the moment we wake, fighting for our attention. All we see and hear, all day long, is news. And most of it is bad.

Debt default and economic calamity are just around the corner as leaders we elected, but seemingly can't trust, fight over how to spend money we don't have.

We fear that we won’t be able to afford health care for our families.

Fighting and atrocities rage on in the Middle East.

Terrorist activity spreads around the world.

Pornography, sexual sin and innuendo continue their takeover of prime time television.

How do we keep the overwhelming amount of messages the world is bombarding us with from sending us into an anxiety-induced free fall? From a life of fear and depression and defeat? Which ultimately produce wrong beliefs, behaviors and addictions?

There is a beautiful verse in the psalms that says, “Teach us to number our days, that we may gain a heart of wisdom” (Ps. 90:12). Do you want to know the secret of numbering your days and not allowing a single day of your life to be put to waste?

The key is found two verses down where it says, “Oh, satisfy us early with Your mercy” (Ps. 90:14) The word “mercy” here is the Hebrew word ‘hesed’, which means God’s grace.

God is telling us to be satisfied every day with His grace. Which means that before you do anything -- turn on the news, read the papers, check your emails, get started on your to-do list or even drink your morning coffee -- try starting the day with Jesus and being satisfied with His grace.

But Pastor Prince, how long do I spend doing this? You don’t know how crazy things get in the morning! How much must I read, listen, or pray?

Fair enough. If morning doesn’t work for you, then find a time that best suits your schedule. It could be during your lunch break or just before you go to bed.

The key principle here is to be satisfied daily with His grace.

Some days, you may spend more time than others. It’s really not about the duration, but your level of satisfaction.

There are days when my heart is troubled, and just being in the Lord’s presence and thinking about His love for me fills my heart with inexplicable peace and joy.

At such times, it takes only a few seconds for my heart to be satisfied with His grace. Other days, I feel like the Lord wants to show me something in His Word, and I end up studying it for a long time until I feel a release.

This means that you and I can’t be legalistic about our relationship with God. God doesn’t want us to have rigid rituals with Him. In the new covenant, He is more interested in having a relationship with us.

So, enjoy His presence daily -- that’s how you redeem the time you have lost and never waste another day in bondage, fear, guilt, or addiction.

The psalmist says, “For a day in Your courts is better than a thousand. I would rather be a doorkeeper in the house of my God than dwell in the tents of wickedness” (Ps. 84:10). In other words, a day spent in God’s presence satisfied by His grace is better than a thousand spent elsewhere.

Think about this for a moment. There are 365 days in a year, so a thousand days is almost three years of your life.

What this means is no matter how much time you think you have lost to being in bondage to fear or being trapped in an addiction, God can redeem those days for you by His grace.

One day in God’s grace is equivalent to a thousand days of striving by your own efforts.

Begin every day therefore satisfied in His grace, and God will restore to you all the years the locusts have eaten and stolen from you (see Joel 2:25).

Have a joyful, positive, and confident expectation of good because there are many good days ahead of you -- days of blessings, days of favor, and days of great grace.

Overcome every worry, fear and wrong belief by tuning in to the right channel and hearing good news. Hope will come flooding in.

When you hear right, you will start to believe right. And right believing…changes everything.
