Ex-CIA official says Trump's 'handshake' deal with China could cut off Iran's weapons, end conflict

Former CIA counterterrorism official John Kiriakou said President Donald Trump’s "handshake agreement" with China could disrupt Iran’s military supply lines and help bring an end to the conflict.

Speaking on the "Hang Out with Sean Hannity" podcast, Kiriakou explained what this could mean for the conflict in the Middle East and outlined the potential impact of an Iranian nuclear weapon.

"The president announced on either X or on Truth Social that he had come to some sort of a handshake deal with the Chinese and that the Chinese were not going to provide weapons [to Iran]," Kiriakou said.

"If that's the truth, then it's pretty much over."

Trump announced the deal with China on Truth Social Wednesday, saying China is "very happy" with his plans to permanently open the Strait of Hormuz after Iran blockaded the vital waterway and disrupted the flow of oil.

"I am doing it for them, also - And the World. This situation will never happen again," Trump wrote, adding that China has agreed to stop supplying Iran with weapons.

"They have agreed not to send weapons to Iran. President Xi will give me a big, fat, hug when I get there in a few weeks. We are working together smartly, and very well!" Trump posted.

The president is scheduled to meet with Chinese President Xi Jinping next month in Beijing. Their meeting was previously delayed over fighting that erupted in the Middle East earlier this year.

Beyond the China agreement, Kiriakou said a nuclear-armed Iran remains a serious threat to the United States. He said assessments of Tehran’s missile range have changed.

Hannity said the U.S. underestimated Iran’s missile range and that missiles could reach major European cities like Paris and London.

Kiriakou confirmed the assessment, saying that by "stripping down" the missiles, Iran "extended the range by something like 60%." He added that even without long-range missiles, Iran could "wreak havoc on the entire region by making a dirty bomb."

In March, the regime launched two intermediate-range ballistic missiles toward the U.S.-U.K. base at Diego Garcia in the Indian Ocean, roughly 2,500 miles from Iran, according to Israeli officials. The strike challenged previous assessments of Tehran’s capabilities, which Iran’s foreign minister previously claimed were capped at a 2,000-kilometer range.

Both agreed that the conflict will not turn into a "forever war," with Hannity asserting that Trump "won't let it" happen.

"I can't imagine this turns into one of the long wars. It doesn't make any sense. . . . You know, if it were going to be, we already would have boots on the ground," said Kiriakou.

CIA whistleblower claims Obama-era espionage charges against him were a test run for targeting Trump

Former CIA counterterrorism chief John Kiriakou said his 2012 prosecution was a trial run for the Democratic Party's "template" for lawfare later used against President Donald Trump.

Kiriakou, the CIA officer who led the team that captured al Qaeda terrorist Abu Zubaydah, blew the whistle on the agency’s waterboarding program over a decade ago. He was jailed for nearly two years after the Obama administration charged him under the Espionage Act and the Intelligence Identities Protection Act (IIPA) for disclosing the identity of a covert CIA officer.

Kiriakou claims his conviction was a test case for federal prosecutors. He argues that by testing it on a former CIA officer, the government refined the legal tactics it would later use against President Donald Trump and members of his circle.

"Brett Tolman, the former U.S. attorney from Trump One, former U.S. attorney for Utah, said the Kiriakou case was the template," Kiriakou said on the "Hang Out with Sean Hannity" podcast, adding, "The template for the Democratic Party's policy of lawfare."

Kiriakou claims federal prosecutors wanted to test the tactics on a "nobody" before targeting larger political rivals, including General Michael Flynn, Paul Manafort and eventually President Donald Trump.

He described a system that he says bankrupts targets and ruins their reputations, leaving them unable to fight back.

"The next thing you know, you're drowning in millions of dollars of legal debt, your reputation is ruined," Kiriakou explained, adding, "Of course there's a deep state and it's dangerous."

Kiriakou cited what he described as a classified memo exchange among senior Obama administration officials. He alleged that then-CIA Director John Brennan pushed for espionage charges against him, despite what he said were concerns from the Justice Department. He said the effort was meant to force him into a costly legal defense.

It’s a technique he claims was later used against Trump, and that there are people in the federal bureaucracy who know how to "ruin" even a president.

"There are people in places like the CIA, the FBI, NSA, who are there for 25, 30, even 35 years and they know presidents come and go every four or eight years and they can outwait this president," Kiriakou said.

"If this president does something that they don't like, they know exactly how they can ruin him," he added.

While Kiriakou maintains his prosecution was a political test run, a 2013 press release from the Justice Department accused him of revealing the identity of a covert CIA officer to a journalist.

"John Kiriakou betrayed the trust bestowed upon him by the United States and he betrayed his colleagues whose secrecy is their only safety," then-U.S. Attorney MacBride said in a statement.

"John Kiriakou put the life of a covert officer at risk; he put the officer’s family in danger; and he exposed our nation’s vital secrets," he added.

John Solomon reveals government officials' warning of 'incredible political dirty trick' against Trump

Just the News founder John Solomon said he was approached by unidentified government officials in 2017 who told him he was uncovering what he now alleges is an 11-year conspiracy to undermine President Trump.

"We want to tell you that you’re at the tip of a very large iceberg and you need to keep drilling down," Solomon said, recalling the officials’ warning on the newest episode of the "Hang Out with Sean Hannity" podcast.

Solomon said the encounter happened shortly after he appeared on Hannity’s television show, where he had been discussing what he described as a sharp rise in the unmasking of Americans’ communications.

He pulled into his driveway where he saw a government vehicle with its flashers on parked in front of his mailbox. Two men got out of the car, leading him to initially fear he was about to be arrested.

"Well, that thing you were talking about tonight on television... it’s far deeper," Solomon recalled one of the men telling him.

Solomon, who said he was confused by the matter, continued describing the exchange.

"We don't know half the things that we knew. We didn't even know the FISA warrants existed," he said.

The men did not identify themselves, Solomon said, and told him the information they had was classified, but urged him to continue reporting.

Michaels sat down on the "Hang Out with Sean Hannity" podcast to discuss how the attributes that used to make her desirable to the left have now led the party to label her a "bigot."

"I sit here, and I watch, and I think like, ‘Wow, it just keeps marching on. The left just keeps eating its own,’" Michaels said.

She explained that because of her diverse background—being part Jewish, part Arab, a gay woman, and the mother to a Black child—she once fit into the labels the Democratic Party championed. Now, after leaving California and speaking out on certain topics, she says their perception of her has changed.

For Michaels, border security became a breaking point. She noted she used to work for the United Nations Refugee Agency and even adopted her child from Haiti, but explained that the open border situation made her concerned about national security.

"These clips of Venezuelans, Cubans, Iranians, literally saying to white, middle-aged liberals, ‘Stop doing what you are doing. You don't represent us. You don't represent what we want for Venezuela, Cuba and Iran,’" she said.

"Crime Stories with Nancy Grace" host Nancy Grace said the disappearance of Savannah Guthrie’s mother is a painful reminder of her own fiancé’s murder nearly 50 years ago.

Grace's fiancé, Keith Griffin, was shot and killed by a former co-worker in August 1979 — just months before their scheduled wedding — after the man had been fired by the company.

"When my fiancé was murdered, I didn't even want to say words. I felt like going out in the dark in the woods and just howling like an animal. I didn't have words to say," she said in an emotional interview on a new episode of "Hang Out With Sean Hannity."

Her fiancé’s murderer was convicted in 1980 and served more than 25 years in prison before being paroled in 2006.

For Nancy Grace, the Nancy Guthrie case is personal.

As a former prosecutor, she knows firsthand how mishandling of a crime scene early on can complicate the case if it ever gets to court — and it can put the search for Guthrie in jeopardy, too, she said in an interview on Sean Hannity’s new podcast, "Hang Out with Sean Hannity."

But the 84-year-old's suspected abduction also brought back painful memories from her own past — the murder of her fiancé during summer break from college in 1979.

When Guthrie's daughter, "Today" co-host Savannah Guthrie, gave her first televised interview with colleague Hoda Kotb last week, the emotional account reminded Grace that "you're never the same" after a loved one is taken away.

The emotions ran raw, Grace told Hannity, but other aspects of the case pained her, too.

The sheriff released the crime scene back to the family before bringing the FBI into the case days later. In the interim, delivery drivers and journalists walked up to the front door, dropping off parcels and taking photographs.

"By destroying the crime scene and by releasing the crime scene too early, they destroyed a lot of evidence," she said.

"People called them 'missteps,' that is certainly putting perfume on the pig, isn't it?" Grace said. "That's a euphemism, 'missteps' — they're screw-ups. The feds wouldn't have done that."

Then, as the special agent in charge of the FBI's Phoenix office was with the Guthrie family filming a video response to a ransom demand that authorities viewed as potentially credible, the sheriff was caught on camera enjoying an Arizona Wildcats basketball game.

Hannity noted that once the FBI did get involved, the bureau worked with Google to obtain imagery from Guthrie's missing Nest doorbell camera that the sheriff's department had not been able to recover.

"I don't like attacking the actual men and women that are doing the work. The fish stinks at the head, Sean," Grace said. "It's Nanos. He stinks. He's gotta go. But that's a distraction to finding Nancy Guthrie."

"When Savannah was talking...when she felt like it was her fault, she said, 'Oh, Mommy, Mommy, I’m sorry. I am sorry,'" Grace said. "It took me right back to that moment — those horrible moments — when I was lying there in the dark, feeling like howling, because there just were no words."

Grace's fiancé, Keith Griffin, was killed on his way to work during a break from college — months before they hoped to get married.

The 23-year-old had a summer gig on a construction crew, she said, and his killer had been fired from the same job before his arrival. Griffin went on a run to pick up drinks for his co-workers and bring them back to the rural job site, arriving in the owner's jacket and driving the company truck.

"The guy came up and just opened fire and shot Keith five times in the face, the neck, the head and the back," Grace told Hannity.

After his death, Grace dropped out of school. But eventually she returned, she said, motivated to help other crime victims.

"That's your calling," Hannity replied.

Former Illinois Gov. Rod Blagojevich sounded the alarm on what he calls a "broken" justice system, claiming the tactics used against him paved the way for the later prosecution of President Donald Trump.

Blagojevich, a former Democrat turned Trump ally, spent nearly a decade in prison after being found guilty of corruption in 2011. He has long maintained his innocence, arguing that the actions he was imprisoned over were simply routine aspects of politics.

"If they want to get you, they do this. And we saw what they did to President Trump, which is unprecedented, unbelievable. I really believe they started with me," Blagojevich said on the "Hang Out with Sean Hannity" podcast.

In FBI wiretaps, Blagojevich was heard discussing his power to appoint a successor to the Senate seat vacated by Barack Obama after he was elected president in 2008. Prosecutors argued the wiretaps proved he planned to use the appointment to secure personal political favors.

DeSantis argued that if President Donald Trump had not run for president in 2024, he would have garnered the votes of Trump’s MAGA base.

"They were conservative voters, right? They didn’t want the non-conservative, they wanted me," the governor asserted. "The timing didn’t work out, obviously, for that."

"You just got to see what happens," he added.

DeSantis’ term as governor ends in January 2027, leaving a one-year window to enter the 2028 presidential election – a race with high-profile expected headliners that could include Vice President JD Vance and Secretary of State Marco Rubio.

DeSantis dropped out of the 2024 presidential race, despite garnering second-place support in the Iowa caucuses. The Florida governor ultimately finished third in the Republican primary, trailing behind Trump and former South Carolina Gov. Nikki Haley.

Beyond politics, DeSantis also discussed personal matters, detailing his wife’s battle with breast cancer.

Florida first lady Casey DeSantis was diagnosed with breast cancer in 2021 and was declared cancer-free in 2022.

"She wanted to get the scan… And so, I told her, I said, ‘Alright listen, I think you’re fine, I think you’re worrying for nothing, but let’s set up and get it done,’" he said.

DeSantis said he took the call on behalf of his wife after she said, "you gotta take this."

"The doctor was like, 'Listen, she’s not gonna die. We’re gonna be able to treat this, but it is positive for breast cancer,’" DeSantis explained.

Liberal former NYC mayor admits 'defund the police,' Biden border policies were mistakes

In a rare moment of bipartisan agreement, former New York City Mayor Bill de Blasio admitted to Sean Hannity that he disagrees with the Democratic Party on key issues.

De Blasio gave the blunt assessment on Thursday’s episode of the "Hang Out with Sean Hannity" podcast. He also said his party "rightfully" deserves the criticism it has faced over the Biden administration’s handling of the southern border.

"In retrospect, the whole concept of ‘defund the police’ made no sense. It made sense to say, how can we do better?" de Blasio said.

In 2020, de Blasio pledged to cut the New York Police Department’s budget by $1 billion following citywide protests. The funds were instead shifted to other agencies focused on youth centers and public housing.

The former mayor noted that police leaders told him more should be done to give young people positive alternatives, calling it "good for safety" in communities.

Hannity responded with surprise to the admission, saying, "We’re not disagreeing, right? This is amazing."

"We’re doing good," de Blasio said, adding, "So ‘defund’ was a mistake. And I understand where it came from, but it was a mistake."

On the border, de Blasio also agreed with Hannity. The former mayor called it "common ground," saying the Biden administration could have handled the surge at the southern border better.

"I don’t like what Biden did with the border," de Blasio said.

When pressed on why he never spoke up earlier, he noted that at the time, he didn’t realize the problem was as bad as it was. De Blasio said he reached that conclusion after President Joe Biden moved to tighten border policies later in his presidency.

"When I saw it during Biden’s time, that he was able to reverse course in that final year and tighten up the border — no, I mean, that’s the irony," said de Blasio, who added that something had "changed" in the administration.

"We, as Democrats, rightfully deserve that critique," he added.

In 2014, de Blasio significantly strengthened New York City’s sanctuary city status. He signed legislation to prohibit the NYPD and Department of Corrections from honoring detainer requests from Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) unless they had a judicial warrant from a federal judge.

Even with a warrant, they would only cooperate if the individual was convicted of a violent crime or serious felony. He also ended ICE’s permanent office at the Rikers Island jail complex.

ӣ��Ƶ host Sean Hannity apologized to Sen. John Fetterman in a candid moment on the "Hang Out with Sean Hannity" podcast, telling the Pennsylvania Democrat he had him "all wrong" while revealing the "untold story" of their first encounter at Mar-a-Lago.

"Everything I thought about you – and I really believed it – it was wrong," Hannity said.

The ӣ��Ƶ primetime host detailed how he met Fetterman while the senator was visiting President Donald Trump for a private dinner at his Mar-a-Lago estate in Palm Beach, Florida.

"The untold story is, I walked up to you and I said, ‘Senator, very nice to meet you.’ I said, 'You should hate me, I'm an a--hole,' and I don't know if you remember that part. I said [it] because, by that time, I'd begun to realize I had you all wrong…"

FETTERMAN OPENS UP ABOUT NEAR-DEATH EXPERIENCE AND HOW IT CHANGED HIS APPROACH TO POLITICS

"That's the truth about today now," Fetterman replied, referring to political tensions between the left and right wings.

"That's why I'm always committed to [sitting down and having conversations]… and I don't have grudges. I just [like to] have these conversations," he added.

Fetterman, in a wide-ranging sitdown with Hannity, discussed partisanship, the 2022 Senate race against Dr. Mehmet Oz, his independent streak from the Democratic Party base and what it means to put country over party.

"I really thought you were somebody you're not. I did not know you," Hannity said, extending his apology.

Sen. John Fetterman, D-Pa., opened up about his close brush with death on ӣ��Ƶ' new podcast, "Hang Out with Sean Hannity," saying it led him to let go of negativity and open himself to new conversations amid an increasingly polarized political landscape.

Fetterman survived a severe stroke during his 2022 Senate campaign. He told host Sean Hannity that the incident caused his heart to stop.

"There was kind of touch-and-go at that time. And thankfully I’ve made a full recovery."

The life-threatening stroke left Fetterman with an auditory processing disorder that hampers his ability to understand and communicate speech. To get around this, the senator uses a captioning device that transcribes what is being said, allowing him to read his conversation in real time.

Similar technology was installed in his office and in the Senate chamber, where captions are typed out for him by professional broadcast captioners to help him perform his congressional duties.

Fetterman said the near-death experience inspired a sense of gratitude.

"That stroke could have ended me, or it could have taken my ability to speak or to move or for anything. So… I’m so grateful to be back here."

Matthew Tkachuk, U.S. men’s hockey gold medalist and Florida Panthers star, brushed off criticism around the national team’s decision to visit President Donald Trump at the White House.

Tkachuk appeared on "Hang Out with Sean Hannity" and touched on the criticism he and his teammates received over their celebration in the locker room and their decision to fly to Washington, D.C., to see Trump and attend his State of the Union address.

"For us, there’s gonna be criticism for everything we’ve done – all of the partying we’ve done, all the fun we’ve been having," he said. "But we’ve earned the right to have the greatest time and the greatest celebration. Of course, one of the first invites we get is from the president in the locker room. It was the quickest ‘yes’ ever."

Tkachuk said the team would have gone to the White House no matter who was presiding over the country.

Not every member of the U.S. men’s hockey team went to the White House, as some cited constraints with resuming the NHL regular season as the playoffs neared.

Tkachuk has been to the White House a few times since Trump began his second term in office. He and the Panthers celebrated their Stanley Cup title victories at the White House as well.

Team USA hockey player Matthew Tkachuk said it is hard to compare the achievements of winning the Winter Olympics versus the Stanley Cup on "Hang Out with Sean Hannity."

Tkachuk, who won the National Hockey League's ultimate prize in back-to-back seasons with the Florida Panthers, shared that the Stanley Cup is physically demanding and earning the title is an extraordinary accomplishment.

"Winning a Stanley Cup physically on your body is so tough, he said. "It's the hardest trophy to win in sports."

"When it's done, and you're lifting the cup and your body's just mangled, like you realize how hard it is to win it. And there's something special about having your engraved on that for history," he added.

But the outpouring of support he received for representing the "greatest country in the world" at the 2026 Winter Olympics in Milan Cortina was equally meaningful.

"I had somebody that came up to me the other day that said that the only reason they watched is because how like patriotic we were and how we were representing the country, and now they're big hockey fans and they couldn't name a handful of players."

Tkachuk helped secure the United States’ historic win against Canada for the first time in 46 years at the 2026 Winter Olympics.

After five years together, Matthew and Ellie married in July 2025. The couple is waiting to learn the baby’s gender until it is born, Tkachuk shared.

"We aren't finding out," he revealed. "We're going old school approach, which I wasn't too fond of early, I will say."

"At some point would definitely love to have a boy," he said.

"I'm lacing him up… the second he can… at least stand up, I'm gonna carry him around the ice," he added.
