'Giggling' cop killing suspect slammed by judge as prosecutors fought bail release for repeat felony offender

A man with a nearly decade-long rap sheet who is accused of killing a police officer last weekend giggled in court Thursday afternoon as prosecutors argued that he should be held without bail.

Alphanso Talley, 27, is accused in the Saturday morning killing of 38-year-old Chicago Police Department (CPD) officer John Bartholomew at Swedish Hospital. Talley allegedly shot another police officer in the process.

Judge D’Anthony Thedford stopped the proceedings Thursday to tell Talley to "stop the giggling" while prosecutors argued before the judge.

Talley was arrested Saturday in connection to an alleged armed robbery at a Family Dollar store, authorities said. In that incident, he was accused of pistol-whipping a female employee at the box store and taking her wallet and keys.

Upon his arrest, he told authorities that he had swallowed narcotics and needed to be taken to the hospital.

While he was awaiting a CT scan, police say he pulled a gun from underneath a blanket and shot both officers, killing Bartholomew. He is also accused of attempting to escape custody.

Talley has been charged with murder, attempted murder, aggravated unlawful restraint, armed robbery, aggravated discharge of a firearm, possession of a firearm by a felon, aggravated battery of a peace officer, aggravated battery, escape and unlawful use of a weapon.

"Facts of this case clearly lay out that the defendant certainly committed these offenses," prosecutors said while arguing for his detainment.

"He was going to attempt an escape when he pretended to swallow drugs," they continued. "He knew police would take him to the hospital for his own well-being. He knew he would be uncuffed at that time. He did that to officers who simply took him to the hospital for his own well-being."

The courtroom was packed for Talley's Thursday hearing. Some of Bartholomew's family members, along with CPD officers and even some elected officials, were present.

Ultimately, Thedford decided not to release Talley from custody before his trial.

"It is clear to this court that you pose a threat to any person you’re around," he said. "If you’re out — you’re dangerous. I cannot trust that you will follow any orders that this court gives. No conditions that I can propose can keep the community safe from you."

Chicago Police Fraternal Order of Police President John Catanzara Jr. slammed Talley and members of his family who were present in court after the hearing.

'If you're in the courtroom, I think you got a sense of why this kid turned out the way he did with the family support," he said. "And I use that very loosely that he has, the smug attitude, the smiling, the smirking, the laughing, the 'I love you' from the family. Even after hearing the despicable acts that this piece of s--- did.

"It's appalling. It's disgusting. It's the reason the death penalty should still be in Illinois. Because he would certainly be exhibit A for a death penalty case. There is no redeeming quality of this kid," he said. "There just isn't. He's stealing oxygen from the rest of us. And, there's no doubt of his guilt there."

In a separate post-hearing news conference, Chicago Alderman James Gardiner slammed Democrat Mayor Brandon Johnson, calling him "an embarrassment to this city."

According to Illinois Department of Corrections records, Talley has a lengthy rap sheet consisting of violent crimes from the past nine years. It includes a conviction for four counts of aggravated robbery with a firearm in 2017, unlawful use or possession of a firearm by a felon with a prior conviction in 2021, battery on a peace officer in 2023 and possession/aiding and abetting a stolen motor vehicle.

Despite his criminal record, Talley was out of jail on pretrial release stemming from a previous armed robbery case when he allegedly killed Bartholomew.

ABC 7 reported that in December, Judge John Lyke, who has presided over Talley's criminal cases for at least three years, said, "It appears [Talley's] mind is finally developing, and he may be on the path to making better decisions," before releasing him from custody in relation to a separate legal matter with only an ankle monitor.

A warrant for his arrest was issued on March 11 while he was on pretrial release for the alleged armed robbery after he had two electronic monitor violations in early March, according to court documents.

Talley is due back in court on May 20.

Images from surveillance video outside the Washington Hilton ballroom obtained by The Washington Post show the moment when an alleged would-be assassin of President Donald Trump charges toward a security checkpoint where he was fired upon by a Secret Service agent.

The photos show several Secret Service agents reacting as Cole Allen, 31, allegedly attempted to gain access to the room that was teeming with high-level government officials, including Trump, Vice President JD Vance and the first and second ladies.

Agents can be seen breaking down one of two magnetometers as the suspect bolted toward them. One agent draws his weapon and fires at the suspect. The photos show four muzzle flashes from those shots. A Wednesday court filing from federal prosecutors said the agent fired five shots but did not strike Allen.

A Secret Service agent was struck by gunfire, and after speculation on the subject, President Donald Trump said Thursday it was "not friendly fire."

According to the Wednesday court filing, Allen was running toward the stairs that descend into the ballroom.

The court documents say Allen fell to the ground and was apprehended. One agent was struck in his bulletproof vest and was taken to a hospital with minor injuries.

Anti-gun violence nonprofit founder and ex-MMA fighter convicted in fatal 2024 shooting murder

A former mixed martial arts fighter who founded an anti-violence nonprofit with a specific focus on gun crime was convicted of murder in the shooting death of another man in Colorado earlier this week.

A jury found Lumumba Sayers, 47, guilty of second-degree murder, tampering with physical evidence and attempt to commit tampering with physical violence, according to a release from the 17th Judicial District Attorney's Office.

Sayers will be sentenced on July 24. Sentencing guidelines in Colorado prescribe a 16-to-48-year prison sentence for second-degree murder.

Prosecutors said Sayers left an anti-violence event Aug. 10, 2024, and drove to a children's birthday party at a local water park, where he walked up to the victim, Malcolm Johnson, and shot him multiple times, Colorado Public Radio reported.

Sayers admitted to having a weapon on him at the time of the murder, but that was not the weapon used to KILL Johnson, the Macomb Daily reported. Prosecutors said an untraceable 3-D printed gun, or "ghost gun," was used in the shooting. It was never found.

They said it was handed off to another man, never to be seen again. There was no surveillance video of the murder.

The murder was carried out in revenge after Sayers' son, Lumumba Sayers Jr., was gunned down in August 2023, prosecutors said. A man named Tyrell Braxton was charged in that case, but the case was eventually dismissed.

Sayers reportedly believed Johnson was involved in his son's murder. Prosecutors also said that Sayers attempted to plant the gun on Johnson after the killing. Sayers contended he was simply removing his gun and putting it down before police arrived on the scene.

"At Heavy Hands Heavy Hearts, we foster a culture of accountability, both in and out of the gym," the organization's site says. "Through training, individuals learn discipline, respect, and self-control, promoting responsible behavior and healthy relationships."

Sayers competed in Strikeforce MMA in 2011 and 2012, where he fought against future UFC contenders, according to MMA Junkie. Strikeforce was acquired by a different company and eventually absorbed completely into UFC.

A high-achieving young married woman is dead after her high school sweetheart husband shot and killed her before turning the gun on himself, Pennsylvania authorities say.

Ryan Hosso, 26, killed his wife Madeline Spatafore, 25, overnight on Tuesday, according to a release from the Pennsylvania State Police.

Hosso called his parents after murdering Spatafore and told them what he had done, according to police. He also told them he was contemplating suicide. His parents called the police, and they rushed to the home where they found Spatafore dead with multiple gunshot wounds. Hosso was later found dead from a single gunshot wound in a wooded area behind the home.

The investigation is ongoing, and Hosso's motive remains unknown.

The pair were high school sweethearts who married in September 2024, according to a wedding registry.

According to her LinkedIn profile, Spatafore was a neurocritical care physician assistant at UPMC Presbyterian, a hospital in Pittsburgh. She graduated from high school in 2019, and then graduated summa cum laude from Duquesne University with a degree in health services in 2023.

After a gunman allegedly attempted to assassinate President Donald Trump at Saturday's White House Correspondents' Association Dinner, online conspiracy theories about the event spiked, according to a Washington Post analysis.

Cole Allen, 31, is in federal custody and has been charged with attempting to assassinate the president of the United States, transporting a firearm across state lines and discharging a firearm during a crime of violence after he allegedly charged a Secret Service checkpoint outside the room at the Washington Hilton Hotel where the dinner was being held.

President Donald Trump, Vice President JD Vance, first lady Melania Trump, second lady Usha Vance and Cabinet members had settled in for the evening just minutes before Allen's alleged attack.

Other far-left influencers online made similar suggestions.

An arrest affidavit for a Wellesley, Mass., mother accused of murdering her two children in their upscale suburban home reveals grisly details about the alleged killings.

Janette MacAusland, 49, is accused of killing her two children, Kai, 7, and Ella, 6, in their home last Friday before fleeing to Vermont.

The affidavit reveals MacAusland appeared at her aunt's home distraught.

"She was hysterical. I brought her into my house. She had knocked on a window to get my attention and I could see that she had a large cut on her throat," her aunt said. MacAusland's aunt relayed to police that her niece said she killed Kai and Ella and then tried to kill herself. The affidavit mentions MacAusland told her aunt that she planned to jump off a bridge, but could not do it.

Later, police spoke with MacAusland and asked if her children were OK. In response, she shook her head, according to the affidavit. Then, she revealed a startling detail to police.

"I strangled them and then tried to kill myself," she told them, adding that the children could be found in her bed in their Massachusetts family home.

The affidavit says police in Wellesley were called, and confirmed what MacAusland told them.

MacAusland was jailed in Vermont on a fugitive from justice charge and appeared before a judge remotely on Monday afternoon. She was charged in Massachusetts over the weekend with two counts of murder.

In the Monday hearing, she waived her extradition rights, and will be transported back to her home state to face those charges.

TORRANCE, Calif. — A former FBI criminal profiler says the man who allegedly attempted to assassinate President Donald Trump and other high-level government officials Saturday wasn't simply a crazed gunman, but that something deeper was afoot in his psyche.

Cole Allen allegedly charged a Secret Service checkpoint in the Washington Hilton on Saturday night during the White House Correspondents' Association Dinner, an event attended not just by the president and other elected officials, but by presidential Cabinet members and other government appointees. He allegedly opened fire before falling to the ground and being taken into custody.

Allen sent communication to a family member before the alleged attack, according to authorities, rationalizing what he acknowledged was a mission that would likely severely harm or kill him. Jim Clemente, a retired 22-year FBI veteran who helped crack the 2002 D.C. sniper attacks cases, said Allen expected to die in the attack and that his actions were so extreme that he likely wanted to end his own life.

"He basically ran through a security checkpoint knowing that there would be numerous armed guards right there, and he's firing a weapon," Clemente continued. "But for the circumstances where he apparently tripped and fell, and they pounced on him, he most likely would have been taken down in a hail of gunfire. Now, he's not stupid. He must have known this. And that might have been part of his motivation, that he didn't have the will to live, and once you lose the will to keep yourself alive, other people's lives become much less important."

"He didn't have a general disrespect for human life, he had a very specific disrespect for human life," said Clemente. "And I think that went along with his own disrespect for his own life.

"Obviously, he was outwardly motivated by the actions of politicians, which is why he targeted them, and this is probably something that he has expressed in his life recently, maybe for a long time," Clemente said. "But clearly, he's gotten to the point where that rose to a level — or his own self-image lowered to a level — where he felt like he needed to do something to feel better about his own image or what he perceived the world to be at this time."

In the summer of 2014, he wrote that he landed another competitive spot as a summer undergraduate research student fellow at NASA’s Jet Propulsion Laboratory, where he said he contributed to astrophysics research.

In 2022, he enrolled at California State University, Dominguez Hills, and three years later earned a master's degree in computer science.

He was a Democratic activist who attended at least one "No Kings" protest, and once donated $25 to ActBlue, the progressive digital fundraising platform, which was earmarked for Kamala Harris' 2024 presidential bid.

"Generally, this is a result of severe depression and anxiety," said Clemente. "Maybe it's masked, maybe it isn't, maybe it's very outward. I don't know. I don't know if he ever got any treatment for any of that, but generally it's done by people who lose their willingness to live."

"He had some way to convince himself in these rationalizations that he'd feel better about himself," he continued. "He'd be some kind of hero, and that would make him feel better about himself and it would be worth it to lose his life doing this."

WASHINGTON, D.C. — The White House Correspondents’ Association Dinner quickly devolved into chaos Saturday as shots rang out inside the Washington, D.C., hotel hosting the annual gala while President Donald Trump was in attendance.

The suspect has been identified as Cole Allen, 31, of Torrance, Calif., with law enforcement adding that he prepared a manifesto and shared posts to social media outlining his intent to target Trump and other administration officials, according to authorities.

Allen’s sister, Avriana Allen, told the Secret Service and Montgomery County Police that her brother had a history of making radical statements and previously mentioned a plan to do "something" to fix what he believed to be issues with today’s society, authorities said.

A Secret Service agent heard the shot and responded with five shots of his own in the direction of the shooting. He did not hit Allen, but the court documents say Allen fell to the ground and was apprehended.

According to authorities, Allen charged through a security checkpoint in the hotel’s lobby area armed with firearms and knives, striking one officer in his ballistic vest.

"That could be another reason why he traveled by train because he had the firearms with him, but I’m speculating there," he said.

Cole appears in federal court wearing a blue prison jumpsuit to face charges of attempting to assassinate the President of the United States, discharge of a firearm during a crime of violence and transporting a firearm across state lines, according to the Department of Justice.

He did not enter a plea, and additional charges are expected to be filed as he remains in federal custody.

"Cole Allen's journey of accountability in the criminal justice system starts today," U.S. Attorney Jeanine Pirro said in a news conference Monday afternoon. "There will be additional charges as this investigation continues to unfold."

"But make no mistake, this was an attempted assassination of the President of the United States, with the defendant making clear what his intent was," Pirro continued. "And that intent was to bring down as many of the high ranking Cabinet officials as he could. This is the kind of situation that we cannot tolerate."

Mother from affluent Boston suburb accused of murdering two children during custody dispute

A mother from an affluent Boston suburb was arrested in Vermont after police say she killed her two young children.

Janette MacAusland, 49, of Wellesley, Massachusetts, was taken into custody by police in Bennington, Vermont on Friday night after she arrived at a family home in that town "appearing highly distraught," and having a visible, bloody neck injury.

"Officers attempted to engage her in conversation and, during the interaction, became increasingly concerned for the welfare of her children," the Bennington Police Department said in a release.

Police say they contacted Wellesley authorities for a welfare check at her Massachusetts home. When Wellesley police arrived on the scene, they made a grisly discovery. They say MacAusland's two children were found dead.

They took MacAusland into custody as a fugitive from justice, and said Massachusetts issued a criminal warrant for two counts of murder. She is being held in the Marble Valley Correctional Facility in Vermont and will be arraigned Monday afternoon at Rutland Criminal Division court.

The court said it did not know whether MacAusland has an attorney.

MacAusland's husband, Samuel MacAusland, filed for divorce in October after nine years of marriage, citing an "irretrievable breakdown of the marriage," court records show. Those documents also list their two children, seven-year-old Kai and six-year-old Ella. Samuel was seeking custody of the children.

The children attended Schofield Elementary School.

Newly unearthed video shows a different side of the gunman authorities say tried to blast his way into the press dinner to kill President Donald Trump.

In the decade-old video obtained by ӣ��Ƶ Digita, Cole Allen, now 31, presents his invention at an "Aging into the Future" conference co-sponsored by St. Barnabas Senior Services in Los Angeles. Surrounded by fellow innovators, he demonstrated a prototype emergency brake for wheelchairs — a device he assembled using basic PVC piping. The contraption was notably simple, engineering experts told ӣ��Ƶ Digital, and didn't reflect particularly advanced mechanical engineering for a graduating senior at Caltech.

Still, the video provides a sharp contrast in the life of an angry radical accused of trying to barrel through the Washington Hilton on Connecticut Avenue NW in a shocking assassination plot allegedly targeting Trump administration officials at the White House Correspondents’ Dinner.

The video chronicles a very different person compared to the portrait emerging from law enforcement interviews with Allen's brother and sister and his own writings in a manifesto.

Speaking about past assassination plots, Trump told ӣ��Ƶ on Sunday, "You know, these assassins, they seem to be high IQ people, but they're crazy."

The FBI has now identified Allen as the suspect in the shooting Saturday night at the Washington Hilton, with his brother reporting to law enforcement authorities that Allen's manifesto detailed allegedly deadly plans at the weekend gathering for journalists and administration officials.

Trump told ӣ��Ƶ, "The guy is a sick guy. When you read his manifesto, he hates Christians. That's one thing for sure. He hates Christians, a hatred."

Trump said Allen's family raised alarm bells with law enforcement.

"He was a very troubled guy," he said, later also calling him "disturbed."

According to law enforcement officials, Allen also descended into anti-Trump hate, attending at least one of the three "No Kings" protests organized over the past year by groups including Democratic-leaning nonprofits, like Indivisible, MoveOn and American Federation of Teachers, and a network of socialist organizations, including the People's Forum, the Party for Socialism and Liberation and the ANSWER Coalition, funded by an American tech tycoon, Neville Roy Singham, living in Shanghai.

Almost a decade ago, Allen appeared to have very different priorities.

In a news segment published in March 2017 by WABC in Los Angeles, Allen appears as a disciplined student at the California Institute of Technology, an elite institution known for admitting students with near-perfect test scores and training top-tier engineers and scientists.

Speaking in a measured tone with flat affect, Allen walked a reporter through the mechanics of his device, explaining how it could stabilize a wheelchair and prevent it from skidding. "The wheelchair brakes tend to lock the wheels but don't actually lock the chair to the ground," he explained.

Kneeling beside the wheels of a wheelchair and fiddling with an assembly of PVC pipes between the wheels, he continued, "The deal with this is to prevent it from moving at all."

That year, Allen earned a mechanical engineering degree. While in college, he completed a competitive summer research fellowship at NASA’s Jet Propulsion Laboratory, contributing to astrophysics work, according to his LInkedIn profile. He also developed technical projects, including a physics-based role-playing shooter game called "First Law," as well as robotic systems and later another game, "Bohrdom," released on the Steam platform. Gaming experts said his "Bohrdom" game was very basic in its technical level.

After Caltech, Allen held down a job for only about a year before starting work as a tutor with C2 Education in 2020 and going on to earn a master’s degree in computer science from California State University, Dominguez Hills, in 2025. C2 Education recognized Allen a "teacher of the month" in late 2024, according to a social media post.

Records also show a small political donation during the 2024 election cycle to the Kamala Harris presidential race.

Allen now faces federal charges including using a firearm during a crime of violence and assault on a federal officer, with additional charges expected.

Work of scientists in ‘suspicious’ disappearances is prime target for hostile foes: retired FBI agent

As about a dozen cases involving missing or deceased American nuclear scientists have come to light, a retired high-level FBI official says some of them fit a pattern that he considers suspicious.

"The missing [and] disappearance thing is suspicious inherently," said Chris Swecker, who served as assistant director of the FBI. "What they were working on would certainly, without a doubt, be a target of a hostile foreign intelligence service like Russia or China. It could be Iran, could be Pakistan."

Swecker believes the six deaths that have been widely reported don't have much in common, and he doesn't believe they're connected.

While Swecker isn't convinced that there's a conspiracy afoot even among the missing scientists, he agrees that authorities should be looking for links in the disappearances, given the high-value, sensitive technology that they all worked with or near.

The disappearance of retired Air Force Maj. Gen. William Neil McCasland earlier this year set off the cascade of theories about the missing and dead scientists. He was the former commander of the Air Force Research Laboratory, and had connections to the Los Alamos National Laboratory, where top-secret nuclear research is conducted.

He vanished in New Mexico after leaving his home with only a pair of boots and a handgun. He left his phone, keys and glasses behind.

"I'm just saying that ... the FBI would have interest in anything that happened to them because of what they were working on," he said. "And, in fact, [with] McCasland, the FBI showed up uninvited that very afternoon."

Anthony Chavez, 79, worked at Los Alamos National Laboratory until he retired in 2017. He reportedly disappeared on May 8, 2025. He was last seen leaving his house in Los Alamos on foot, with his car locked in his driveway. He did not bring his phone, wallet or keys on his walk.

Melissa Casias, 53, also worked at the Los Alamos National Laboratory. She went missing on June 26, 2025.

Steven Garcia, 48, went missing from Albuquerque on Aug. 28, 2025. He worked at the Kansas City National Security Campus, located in Albuquerque, which develops most of the nonnuclear components that go into building nuclear weapons. He reportedly left on foot carrying only a handgun.

He reportedly had a top secret security clearance.

"So Garcia, Chavez and Casias, in my opinion, ought to be lumped in and that should be the focus, and any others that went missing, because that would fit more of a pattern than just killing somebody because of what they know," said Swecker.

"Exact same pattern," he continued. "They disappeared with all their personal belongings [left] behind. Some of them took their handguns with them, which means they're either in fear or they're going to go use it on themselves."

Swecker also had a warning for scientists working in top-secret fields.

"What people really need to be aware of — anybody involved in technology and anything that China or Russia or our competitors want to get their hands — ought to understand that there is a daily collection effort by China, Russia, Iran, to some extent, North Korea, but mainly China and Russia to steal technology because they're not good at [research and development]," he said. "And their whole programs depend on stealing the technology and reverse engineering it."

"So, scientists, people involved in the defense contracting companies, research and development at universities, you know, all types of technologies in the U.S., even if it's not military use, ought to be aware that this type of stuff goes on day in and day out."

Last week, the White House directed the FBI to coordinate an investigation into the cases. The investigation is ongoing.

The man accused of opening fire at the Washington Hilton Hotel during the White House Correspondents' Dinner has been identified as Cole Allen, 31, a computer scientist from Torrance, California who went from designing first-person shooter games to becoming an alleged shooter himself.

According to his LinkedIn profile and online records, Allen’s life and career trace an accomplished path as a computer scientist, engineer and independent game developer, even building a shooter role-playing game called "First Law."

In September 2013, according to his online profile, he enrolled in the highly competitive California Institute of Technology, known as CalTech, to pursue a BS in mechanical engineering, graduating in 2017. CalTech confirmed to ӣ��Ƶ Digital that a student named Cole Allen graduated from the school in 2017.

He later made "Bohrdom," a complex 2-D physics-based video game that he described as a "combination of a racing game with a bullet hell as experienced by self-propelled pinballs," released on the popular Steam gaming platform, according to his profile.

Beginning in March 2020, his LinkedIn profile says, he joined C2 Education, a tutoring company, enrolling at California State University, Dominguez Hills, in 2022 to pursue an MS in computer science, graduating in May 2025. That school also confirmed that a person by the same name graduated with a master’s degree that year.

A Dec. 30, 2024 Facebook post from C2 Education congratulated "Cole Allen of C2 Education Torrence on being honored as December teacher of the month." A photo matching that of Allen was attached to the post.

According to Federal Election Commission records, Allen donated $25 to Kamala Harris during the 2024 election cycle.

During a news conference late Saturday night, authorities said that Allen rushed a Secret Service checkpoint at the White House Correspondents' Dinner armed with multiple weapons. He then opened fire on a Secret Service officer, who was taken to the hospital after he was shot in his ballistic vest.

Agents fired back at Allen, who was not struck. He was also taken to the hospital.

United States Attorney for the District of Columbia Jeanine Pirro told reporters at the press conference that Allen has been charged with two counts of using a firearm during a crime of violence and assault on a federal officer using a dangerous weapon. Pirro said that more charges are expected.

President Donald Trump was whisked away from the venue by the Secret Service along with first lady Melania Trump and other high-level Cabinet officials.

Trump described Allen as a "lone wolf" and a "very sick person."

No other injuries were reported.

A chapter of a far-left organization at the University of California, Berkeley's law school capped off a Palestinian Political Prisoners Day earlier this week with a message from a failed suicide car bomber jailed in Israel for eight years.

UC Berkeley Law Students for Justice Palestine shared a video on its Instagram account from convicted attempted car bomber Israa Jaabis, who thanked her western counterparts for supporting her cause.

"Firstly, I would like to thank [the students] for their attentiveness, for listening with their hearts," Jaabis said, according to English translated subtitles attached to the video.

"For many reasons, even their attendance is enough to make us feel — as liberated Palestinian prisoners — that there is someone who cares about us."

Jaabis was jailed in Israel from 2015 to 2023 after attempting to set off a car bomb during a traffic stop. While in prison, Jaabis made headlines for demanding cosmetic surgery on her badly scarred face. She was released in November 2023 in a prisoner exchange as the Israeli government attempted to free hostages taken by Hamas militants in the Oct. 7, 2023, terror attack.

A spokesperson for UC Berkeley Law said the school's hands were tied.

City manager 'begged' fired Cincinnati police chief for more officers on street as crime skyrocketed

Cincinnati's now-former police chief, once sued by subordinates for alleged discrimination against White male officers, has been fired.

A termination announcement says Teresa Theetge was "begged" to put more officers on the streets during a crime-riddled summer last year. She was removed from her role as the city's top law enforcement officer on Thursday after only about three years on the job. She was a police officer in Cincinnati for 35 years.

City Manager Sheryl Long made Theetge's termination announcement.

"I recognize Chief Theetge’s more than 35 years of service to the Cincinnati Police Department and to this City. At the same time, after completing this review, it’s become clear that a change in leadership is necessary for the department moving forward," Long said in a statement to ӣ��Ƶ Digital.

Cincinnati found itself under national scrutiny last August after a viral beatdown in the city's downtown left a woman with neurological damage.

In the early-morning hours of July 26, a confrontation outside the LoVe nightclub, located on the corner of Fourth and Elm Street in the city's downtown business district, led to a horrific beatdown that was captured on video.

The video circulated rapidly on social media, sparking fury as at least two White victims were pummeled into the ground by a group of Black suspects. Once on the ground, the suspects did not back off. Instead, they continued to stomp on the victims, one of whom was left with a possibly life-altering brain issue.

Over the course of the next month, seven people were arrested and charged with crimes related to the beating.

Long also ripped Theetge for two shootings in the Fountain Square area in the city's downtown last October, saying she "failed to provide leadership in response to two shootings" in the area that month.

"You further admitted that on October 14 (the day after the second shooting) you chose to go to a play rather than attend a public safety town hall meeting..." Long wrote in the termination letter, later adding that Theetge "should not need to be told to attend a public safety meeting … the night after a shooting on Fountain Square."

In May of last year, four White male officers filed a federal civil rights lawsuit against Theetge, who was the city's first female police chief, saying that they were passed over for promotions and passed over for preferred assignments because of their race and/or sex.

"Defendants’ intentional and discriminatory practices in assigning Lieutenants to preferred assignments has disproportionately favored non-White males and/or females, without legitimate, non-discriminatory justification, thereby denying Plaintiffs equal employment opportunities," the suit says in part.

"The City and Chief Theetge have actively and systemically undertaken efforts to promote, advance, and make promotion and assignment decisions that are preferable to women and minorities, and to the exclusion of white men, including through hiring, diversity initiatives, outreach programs, promotional processes, and other steps that demonstrate both a systemic practice of discrimination against white males, and that there are background circumstances to support the suspicion that the defendant is that unusual employer who discriminates against the majority," the lawsuit also says.

Theetge's attorney did not return a request for comment. Neither did Mayor Aftab Pureval's office.

Biological male killer housed in Oregon women's prison wins high-dollar legal settlement in sex abuse suit

A convicted killer who transitioned from male to female while in prison was awarded a large settlement with the Oregon Department of Corrections after a lawsuit claiming abuse by staff while housed in a male prison.

Zera Lola Zombie, a biological male who has been housed in the women's Coffee Creek Correctional Facility since April 2025, won the $295,000 settlement stemming from the 2021 lawsuit, according to The Oregonian.

Zombie, whose birth name was Daniel Lee Smith, was convicted of first-degree manslaughter after pleading guilty to beating a girlfriend, Samantha Lee Brown, to death in 2014. Zombie received 20 years in prison for the killing and 15 more years for a first-degree assault after a violent attack on a fellow inmate. Zombie won't be released from prison until 2049.

The Oregonian reported that Zombie came out as transgender in 2020, and began taking sex change hormones. In 2022, Zombie began the process of seeking a sex change surgery in prison.

According to the report, Zombie will receive $95,000 from the settlement, while Zombie's attorneys will receive $200,000 to cover their fees.

Zombie claimed repeated sexual assaults by a cellmate at the Oregon State Penitentiary, and further sexual assaults at the hands of a different cellmate at Two Rivers Correctional Facility, according to court documents.

The claim said Zombie was discriminated against based on gender, that officials broke the law by housing a female in a male prison, said they failed to "follow both federal and Oregon rules and laws concerning the designation and protection of plaintiff as a Vulnerable Adult-In-Custody ... at high risk for both physical and sexual assault," housed an inmate with a known sexual predator, refused to provide legally-mandated counseling and failed to report the sexual assaults per Oregon and federal law.

"On this record, it is not at all clear that, without the Court’s intervention, defendants will refrain from placing plaintiff in a cell with an inmate known to be a sex offender, or that defendants will designate plaintiff as a vulnerable inmate," said an order written by United States District Court Judge Ann Aiken. "Plaintiff need not await another assault before obtaining preventative relief."

17 charged across New England after massive coordinated street takeover wreaks havoc in suburban Boston town

Local authorities in Massachusetts announced that they have arrested 17 people from across New England in connection to a shocking street takeover in a suburban Boston town.

The takeover occurred last October, according to Randolph, Massachusetts police, who said in a release that the incident was coordinated. During the event, the intersection of North Main Street and Oak Street was closed down while drivers, "performed drifting maneuvers and donuts in the roadway."

"Investigators determined that participants blocked intersections to allow drivers to perform stunts," the release said. "Spectators surrounded the area and recorded videos for social media."

Around 100 people were present at the organized event, according to police.

At one point during the bedlam, a firework appears to be set off in the windshield wiper cowl, with sparks flying into the cruiser's windshield.

All told, 16 people from five New England states and one person from New York have been charged in connection with the takeover.

William Scott Cantwell, 19, of Warwick, Rhode Island faces four charges, which include conspiracy, disorderly conduct, shoplifting by concealing merchandise and interfering with a police officer.

Three suspects, Divine Truth Norris Niles, 23, of Roxbury, Massachusetts, Nazeem Vincent McLeod, 20, of Worcester, Massachusetts, and Casey Rondeau, 20, of Farmington, Maine, were all charged with conspiracy, disorderly conduct and interfering with a police officer.

Jordan J. Ryan, 19, of Exeter, Rhode Island and Nahom Daniel Brook, 23, of Boston were charged with conspiracy and negligent operation of a motor vehicle.

A chaotic situation unfolded on Tuesday night in Los Angeles as far-left activists and students disrupted and chastised a Department of Homeland Security attorney who was speaking to law students at a conservative group's event at the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA).

The incident took place at a speech hosted by the Federalist Society's UCLA chapter, where James Percival, general counsel of the DHS, was speaking to law students. Over 150 protesters gathered outside the event chanting criticisms of the Trump administration, including "No ICE, No KKK, No Fascist U.S.A."

Inside the event, students booed Percival throughout his talk, and many held profane signs while he spoke. One sign read, "F--- you loser." The students also set off different sounds on their phones as part of the disruption, and at different points, yelled out the word "Nazi."

The event culminated in a question and answer session, when most of the disruptors walked out in protest.

"As President of the UCLA Law Federalist Society and the event organizer, I saw students who came to hear and question a senior federal official denied that opportunity. If this is what it looks like for conservative law students trying to host a speaker at an American law school in 2026, we are not staying silent about it."

After the event was announced, left-wing campus groups circulated posts and online petitions containing rhetoric described as "threatening." One of those radical leftist groups was By Any Means Necessary (BAMN), which on its website calls for a "militant new civil rights and immigrant rights movement," posted a flyer on Instagram promoting a picketing event outside the law school.

"UCLA must not give representatives of ICE and the Trump Administration a base to organize Trump’s campaign of racist ethnic cleansing of the U.S. and the Middle East," the flyer said.

"Stop the fascist takeover of the American federal government! Stop the Trump police state!" the caption on the social media post said.

The UCLE Latine Law Students Association also stoked hysteria around the event.

"Many students at UCLA and UCLA Law have been impacted by ICE’s practice of stalking, kidnapping, and profiling individuals whom they suspect to be in the United States without authorization, primarily based on ethnicity," the group said, later adding that inviting Percival to speak "utterly disregards the safety of our undocumented students and minimizes the great harm and trauma that has been inflicted on our communities over the decades."

"By giving Mr. Percival a platform, The Federalist Society and UCLA Law are legitimizing and normalizing racially discriminatory policies that are actively harming both UCLA students and our broader community," the group said.

Video of the incident quickly made waves on social media after it was posted by recent UCLA law school graduate Yitzy Frankel and even got the attention of a top Justice Department official.

"Oh, @UCLA," DOJ assistant attorney general for Civil Rights Harmeet Dhillon posted on X. "… Adding To The List …. And it’s the wrong list."

"Some little punks tried this when I went to speak at UVA Law FedSoc, but school security cooperated with me in shutting down disruption during Q&A," Dhillon added in another post. "Conservative campus speakers must sadly now expect this nonsense, and prepare accordingly."

"When you don’t discipline this kind of behavior you get more of it," Manhattan Institute's Ilya Shapiro posted on X. "This isn’t hard."

"So much for the ‘diversity of thought' that the university says it ‘values,’" JCN President Carrie Severino posted on X. "That tolerance doesn’t extend to conservative legal arguments. It’s hard to imagine these students will be committed to the rule of law and upholding judicial independence."

After publication, UCLA Law released the following statement to ӣ��Ƶ Digital: "UCLA Law is committed to free speech and academic freedom, including perspectives that may be controversial or deeply contested. This student-organized event, which proceeded to its conclusion, was one instance of those principles in practice. The law school worked with the Office of Campus and Community Safety in advance to support the event and uphold the university’s commitment to the free exchange of ideas."

The incident highlights an ongoing trend of far-left students and activists disrupting conservative events and harassing conservative students on college campuses.

"FIRE’s 2026 college free speech survey shows that 91% of students now self-censor at least some of the time in conversations with classmates," ӣ��Ƶ contributor William J. Bennett wrote in a recent ӣ��Ƶ op-ed discussing how conservatives don't feel comfortable expressing themselves on college campuses. "Israel and Palestine are the most feared topics for open dissent, just ahead of abortion and transgender rights. At two prominent universities, 88% of students now pretend to be more progressive than they really are."

NASA nuclear engineer found dead in burned Tesla after vanishing from his Alabama home last year

A NASA nuclear scientist died after a fiery crash in a rural Alabama town last year, which at the time caused suspicion among family members.

Joshua LeBlanc, 29, died in a fiery crash in his Tesla on July 22, 2025. The crash happened in Huntsville, Alabama where his Tesla was found burned beyond recognition at about 2:45 in the afternoon, the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency told ӣ��Ƶ Digital. The vehicle collided with a guardrail, then several trees, before the vehicle burst into flames.

At 4:32 a.m. on the same day, LeBlanc's family reported him missing, according to KLFY. He uncharacteristically failed to show up to his job as an aerospace technologies electrical engineer at NASA, where he worked on nuclear propulsion projects.

His body was also burned beyond recognition, and police confirmed his identity three days later after his body was transported to the Alabama Department of Forensic Sciences.

Police tracked LeBlanc down using the data from his Tesla Sentry Mode, and found that his vehicle sat at the airport in Huntsville for four hours on the morning of his death. His family said his trip west was not part of his plan for the day, and that uncharacteristically, he was not communicating with them.

A LinkedIn page for LeBlanc says he worked at NASA for about five-and-a-half years, and that he was a team lead for NASA’s Space Nuclear Propulsion (SNP) Instrumentation and Control (I&C) Maturation. NASA SNP technology "would enable faster and more robust transportation for crew and cargo missions to Mars and science missions to the outer solar system," according to the government agency's website.

LeBlanc was later a team lead on NASA's Demonstration Rocket for Agile Cislunar Operation (DRACO), a nuclear thermal propulsion engine.

At least 12 other people, the vast majority involved in nuclear science and space research, have died or gone missing since 2022, some under mysterious circumstances.

Monica Reza, 60; Melissa Casias, 53; Anthony Chavez, 79; Steven Garcia, 48; and retired Air Force Maj. Gen. William Neil McCasland, 68, were all reported missing throughout 2023 to 2026, with each of their disappearances considered suspicious.

The deaths and disappearances have not been officially connected in any way, but they have caught the attention of the White House.

"I hope it's random, but we're going to know in the next week and a half," Trump told reporters last week. "I just left a meeting on that subject."

In a statement to ӣ��Ƶ Digital, the FBI confirmed the agency is working alongside other federal authorities in the investigation into the 11 missing and deceased scientists.

A famed theoretical physicist, bestselling author and physics professor is alarmed by the documented trend of high-level scientists, some related to UFO research, who have oddly disappeared or died over the past several years

"If a scientist disappears, it's a matter of some concern. But if 10 scientists suddenly die or vanish, who all have advanced security clearance with access to sensitive research, this is cause for national concern," Dr. Michio Kaku told ӣ��Ƶ Digital.

RETIRED GENERAL WHO ONCE LED AIR FORCE RESEARCH LABORATORY GOES MISSING

McCasland, 68, was the former commander of the Air Force Research Laboratory, and reportedly possessed top secret information on UFOs.

He had ties to the Los Alamos National Laboratory in the state. The lab famously developed nuclear weapons during the WWII-era Manhattan Project. It is a Department of Energy National Nuclear Security Administration (NNSA) facility and prides itself on breakthroughs in the nuclear technology space.

Two other former employees of the lab have also gone missing.

SEARCH FOR MISSING RETIRED AIR FORCE GENERAL ENTERS THIRD WEEK AS INVESTIGATORS PROBE NEW CLUES

Anthony Chavez, 79, worked there until he retired in 2017, according to the Daily Mail. He was last seen leaving his house in Los Alamos on foot on May 8, 2025, with his car locked in his driveway. He did not bring his phone, wallet or keys on his walk.

So, too, did missing woman Melissa Casias, who disappeared less than a month after Chavez.

On the day she disappeared, she dropped off lunch for her daughter and was never seen again.

RETIRED AIR FORCE GENERAL VANISHES IN 1-HOUR WINDOW FROM HOME, GUN AND WALLET MISSING

The NNSA told ӣ��Ƶ Digital it is investigating the deaths and disappearances.

"NNSA is aware of reports related to employees of our labs, plants and sites and is looking into the matter," a statement from the department said.

Scientists from NASA's Jet Propulsion Laboratory have also conspicuously vanished or died.

Monica Reza, an aerospace engineer, reportedly overseeing the lab's Materials Processing Group, which "focuses on developing new materials and advanced manufacturing technologies for spacecraft, specializing in bulk metallic glass alloys and metal additive manufacturing," disappeared last year while on a hike in the Angeles National Forest in California.

Michael David Hicks died on July 30, 2023, at the age of 59.

He worked at the lab from 1998 to 2022, on the space program's Double Asteroid Redirection Test (DART) project, which focused on understanding the physical properties of asteroids and comets and whether they could be re-directed in outer space.

His cause of death has not been released.

The next year, Frank Maiwald of the Jet Propulsion Laboratory also died. He was only 61, and his cause of death is unknown.

He designed a critical instrument for a project called Surface Biology and Geology (SBG) – Visible to Shortwave Infrared (VSWIR), a future NASA mission to launch a satellite into space and map the "living color" of the Earth in far greater detail than can be observed by the human eye, according to his obituary.

Carl Grillmair, also linked to the Jet Propulsion Laboratory, was shot and killed outside of his home in February. He was 47. A man named Freddy Snyder, 29, has been charged with his murder.

Grillmair was an astrophysicist and renowned research scientist at Caltech’s Infrared Processing and Analysis Center, which partners with NASA's lab to provide "science operations, user support, archives and data services, and scientific vision to maximize discovery with observatories both in space and on the ground."

Steven Garcia was a contractor at the Kansas City National Security Campus, which develops most of the nonnuclear components that go into building nuclear weapons. He had a top secret security clearance. Garcia went missing last August.

He was only 48.

Amy Eskridge, a Huntsville, Alabama–based researcher, co-founded the Institute for Exotic Science. She said her work focused on experimental propulsion concepts, including what she referred to as "antigravity" research.

She died on June 11, 2022 of a self-inflicted gunshot wound at age 34. Further details are scant.

She was apparently spooked before her death.

"We discovered antigravity, and our lives went to (expletive) and people started sabotaging us," she said in a 2020 interview with YouTuber Jeremy Rys. "It’s harassment, threats. It’s awful.

The daughter of the American woman missing in the Bahamas says she thinks Brian Hooker is using his mother's illness as an "excuse" to leave the island nation after he spent five days in a Freeport jail.

Karli Aylesworth told ӣ��Ƶ Digital on Friday that Hooker's mother has been "terminally ill for a while." Hooker abruptly left the Bahamas Wednesday after saying he would remain in the country to search for his missing wife, Aylesworth's mother, Lynette.

He was released from a Bahamian jail Monday night after five days behind bars and made that promise in interviews with news outlets on Tuesday morning.

Aylesworth told NBC on Friday that she "never imagined" her mom would disappear, adding that "she was a great person and didn't deserve this." She said part of her feels like her stepdad is "going to get away with this" and walk away a free man, but "I hope that doesn't happen."

Hooker has denied any wrongdoing and has not been charged with a crime.

But about 24 hours later, Hooker changed his mind.

"He has traveled to [the] United States of America to be at her bedside during this critical time."

Butler did not say where in the U.S. Hooker was going, but a source familiar with the case told ӣ��Ƶ Digital he landed in Atlanta.

The pair left The Abaco Inn bar on Elbow Cay in their dinghy at dusk on April 4, headed to their anchored sailboat just off the cay's western coast. The ride was a short one, but Brian said Lynette fell overboard in the choppy waters.

"Update: Nancy has been located," said a post from 10:50 p.m. on Thursday night.

The sheriff's office made the post in reference to a missing woman named Nancy Radakovich, an 82-year-old who the department had announced was missing 12 hours earlier.

Nancy Guthrie, mother of "TODAY" host Savannah Guthrie, went missing from her suburban Tucson home on Feb. 1. The case, which has not been solved, captured weeks of international attention, and the Pima County Sheriff's Department and Sheriff Chris Nanos continue to face heat for their handling of the probe.

The sheriff's department took to X to reiterate that it has been cooperating with the federal law enforcement agency.

"PCSD has worked with the FBI since the beginning of the Guthrie investigation. This is not new information," the department wrote on X. "The private lab we utilize in Florida continues to share information with the FBI lab & other partner labs across the country. DNA analysis remains ongoing."

A glove that was considered to be potential evidence in the case was sent to a lab in Florida instead of the FBI, one law enforcement source told ӣ��Ƶ Digital on Feb. 12.

"The FBI asked Pima County Sheriff Chris Nanos for physical evidence in the case, including a glove and DNA from the home of 84-year-old Nancy Guthrie, to be processed at the FBI's national crime laboratory in Quantico, Virginia, but Nanos has insisted instead on using a private lab in Florida," the official said.

A source told ӣ��Ƶ Digital that after the testing in Florida, the FBI would need to retest the evidence anyway.

"It’s just the FBI developed this method and can do it so much better without destroying the evidence," the source said. "I’ve seen so many cases go to Florida and be consumed. Also, they are not as fast, and in this case, time matters."

Another federal law enforcement source accused Nanos of blocking the FBI from obtaining the evidence, first reported by Reuters and confirmed by ӣ��Ƶ Digital.

"It risks further slowing a case that grows more urgent by the minute," the official told Reuters, citing unspecified "earlier setbacks" in the investigation. The official also criticized Nanos for not requesting help from the FBI earlier in the case.

Pima County has a contract with DNA Labs International, located in Deerfield Beach, Florida for testing of evidence.

Nanos also faced allegations that the initial search for Guthrie was delayed because he had busted the department’s high-tech search aircraft pilot down to street patrol over a personal dispute, leaving the agency scrambling to get the plane in the air on day Guthrie went missing.

Nanos has been plagued by other personnel scandals, including an independent investigation into bullying and retaliation allegations against the sheriff which found that a "preponderance of the evidence" showed he abused his office for political gain during a close race in 2024 against former PCSD Lt. Heather Lappin.

The daughter of a woman who remains missing in the Bahamas lashed out against her stepfather after arriving on Great Abaco Island Thursday.

Karli Aylesworth previously slammed her stepfather, Brian Hooker, who was the last person to see her mother, Lynette Hooker, alive on April 4. Brian said Lynette fell overboard from their dinghy around 7:30 p.m. as the pair motored toward their sailboat, which was anchored off Elbow Key.

Brian was arrested by the Royal Bahamas Police Force April 8 and spent five days behind bars while police investigated Lynette's disappearance. He was released Monday night without being charged with a crime.

On Tuesday morning, he told several news outlets he would remain in the island nation to search for Lynette but jetted off Wednesday for the United States, landing in Atlanta in mid-afternoon, a source familiar with the matter told ӣ��Ƶ Digital.

"I think it shows his character. He somehow lost my mom at sea and cries on camera saying he’ll never stop searching, then leaves the next day," Aylesworth told the New York Post upon her arrival to the town of Marsh Harbour, close to where her mother went missing.

She deplaned at the tiny Leonard Thompson International Airport in Marsh Harbour with her boyfriend, Steve Hansen. They were reportedly met by a uniformed police officer before taking off in a taxi.

Hooker's attorney, Terrel Butler, said he was going to visit Hooker's mother.

"He has traveled to [the] United States of America to be at her bedside during this critical time."

After her mother's disappearance, Aylesworth told ӣ��Ƶ Digital she was aware of "prior issues" with Brian's behavior.

Meanwhile, Bahamian police said their search for Lynette was coming to an end as early as Thursday after analyzing "tide, drift and wind" and deciding there was nowhere else to look. A U.S. Coast Guard investigation remains ongoing.

Brian has maintained he had nothing to do with Lynette's disappearance and that it was purely an accident driven by windy conditions and choppy seas.

Before he was jailed, he said he was "heartbroken" over Lynette's disappearance.

A series of suspicious deaths and disappearances of high-level scientists across the country over the past several years is reaching a fever pitch and catching the attention of online sleuths all the way to the White House.

Since 2023, at least eight people, mostly involved in researching space and nuclear science, have died or vanished, some under murky circumstances. Some have had connections to UFO research.

Asked Wednesday by ӣ��Ƶ' Peter Doocy about the trend, White House press secretary Karoline Leavitt said the Trump administration will likely look into the matter.

"I haven’t spoken to our relevant agencies about it. I will certainly do that, and we’ll get you an answer," Leavitt said. "If true, of course, that’s definitely something I think this government and its administration would deem worth looking into. So let me do that for you."

Eskridge co-founded the Institute for Exotic Science and described her work as focused on experimental propulsion concepts, including what she referred to as "antigravity" research.

Monica Reza went missing while hiking in Mount Waterman in the Angeles National Forest in California. A missing person's flyer from the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Office said there was concern for Reza's well-being, and asked tipsters to call 818-248-3464.

Reza also worked for NASA's Jet Propulsion Laboratory as an aerospace engineer, reportedly overseeing the lab's Materials Processing Group, which "focuses on developing new materials and advanced manufacturing technologies for spacecraft, specializing in bulk metallic glass alloys and metal additive manufacturing," according to NASA.

5) Melissa Casias

Missing: June 26, 2025

Age: 53

Status: Unknown

Casias worked as an administrative assistant at Los Alamos National Laboratory in New Mexico, which reportedly developed nuclear weapons for the Manhattan Project.

On the day she disappeared, she dropped off lunch for her daughter and was never seen again.

6) Anthony Chavez

Missing: May 8, 2025

Age: 79

Status: Unknown

Chavez also worked at Los Alamos National Laboratory until he retired in 2017, according to the Daily Mail. He was last seen leaving his house in Los Alamos on foot, with his car locked in his driveway. He did not bring his phone, wallet or keys on his walk.

7) Joshua LeBlanc

Death: July 22, 2025.

Age: 29

Cause of Death: Car accident

Joshua LeBlanc, 29, died in a fiery crash in his Tesla in Florence, Alabama.

He and his vehicle were ound burned beyond recognition at about 2:45 in the afternoon, the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency told ӣ��Ƶ Digital. The vehicle collided with a guardrail, then several trees, before the vehicle burst into flames.

At the time, his family told KLFY that they feared he had been abducted and that he had left his phone and wallet in his home at the time of the disappearance.

8) Steven Garcia

Missing: Aug. 28, 2025

Age: 48

Status: Unknown

Garcia went missing in Albuquerque after leaving his home on foot carrying only a handgun, according to NewsNation. He worked at the Kansas City National Security Campus, which develops most of the nonnuclear components that go into building nuclear weapons.

He had a top secret security clearance.

10) Nuno Loureiro

Death: Dec. 16, 2026

Age: 48

Manner of Death: Homicide

Loureiro, a Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) physicist and the director of the school's Plasma Science and Fusion Center, was a renowned figure in fusion-energy research, a field that seeks to recreate the power of the sun inside fusion reactors on Earth. His theories and models helped guide major fusion experiments in the United States and Europe.

Claudio Manuel Neves Valente shot Loureiro to death shortly after opening fire inside a Brown University academic building, killing two and wounding nine. The motive for both attacks remains unclear

11) Carl Grillmair

Death: Feb. 16, 2026

Age: 47

Manner of Death: Homicide

Grillmair was a renowned research scientist at Caltech’s Infrared Processing and Analysis Center, which partners with NASA's Jet Propulsion Laboratory providing "science operations, user support, archives and data services, and scientific vision to maximize discovery with observatories both in space and on the ground."

The Daily Mail reported that he was personally involved in space telescope projects with NASA.

He was shot and killed outside his home. A man named Freddy Snyder, 29, was charged with his murder.

12) Retired Air Force Maj. Gen. William Neil McCasland

Missing: Feb. 27, 2026

Age: 68

Status: Unknown

McCasland was the former commander of the Air Force Research Laboratory, and had connections with the Los Alamos National Laboratory, like Casias and Garcia. He reportedly possessed top secret information on UFOs.

He, too, disappeared in New Mexico. He left his home with only a part of boots and a handgun, leaving his phone, keys and glasses, the Daily Mail reported.

13) James "Tony" Moffatt

Moffatt, 60, a decorated veteran pilot, aerospace engineer and defense researcher was killed in a plane crash while flying with his wife Leasa, 61, and sons Andrew, 30, and William, 28. The plane crashed in a wooded area near the runway at Union County Airport in South Carolina.

The family from Huntsville, Alabama, was traveling from the Raleigh-Durham area of North Carolina to Huntsville, officials said, and had stopped in Union County, South Carolina to refuel.

Moffatt earned a master’s degree in aerospace engineering from Georgia Tech in 1988 and previously studied as an experimental test pilot in the U.S. Naval Test Pilot School, according to his LinkedIn profile.

Following his 21-year military career, Moffatt worked as a payload and flight crew support specialist at NASA’s Johnson Space Center Astronaut Office, where he participated in 14 Space Shuttle ISS construction missions.

GREAT ABACO ISLAND, Bahamas — Lynette Hooker's husband left the Bahamas on Wednesday to tend to his "very ill" mother, according to his attorney.

Brian Hooker's attorney, Terrel Butler, told ӣ��Ƶ Digital her client has left the Bahamas and returned to the United States, though she declined to say where.

A source familiar with the matter told ӣ��Ƶ Digital that Brian Hooker landed in Atlanta, Georgia, on Wednesday afternoon.

His departure comes as Bahamian authorities intend to wrap up their search for missing American woman Lynette Hooker in the near future, while the U.S. Coast Guard confirmed that its criminal investigation into her disappearance continues.

The island nation's military says the search could be suspended as early as Thursday, according to an NBC report. After analyzing "tide, drift and wind," authorities say they are running out of locations to search, the report said.

The U.S. Coast Guard confirmed to ӣ��Ƶ Digital on Wednesday that its criminal investigation into Lynette Hooker's husband, Brian Hooker, remains ongoing.

Meanwhile, Hooker's attorney, Terrel Butler, told ӣ��Ƶ Digital on Wednesday morning that Brian is waiting for Bahamian police to return the keys to his boat before he resumes his own search for Lynette.

A local boat captain told ӣ��Ƶ Digital during a recreation of Brian and Lynette Hooker's doomed dinghy ride that he was shocked Lynette's body hadn't been found.

Mo Monestime has spent 15 years chartering boats in the Great Abaco Island area.

"Not being found, that’s the mystery," he said.

"It is very hard to disappear, because, again, we’re so close to land," Monestime continued. "So if you do fall overboard [and] drown, somebody will see you the next day. Again, we can see bottom, you know? I’ll be driving the boat, I will see stingrays, I will see turtles, so I would see a human body. Somebody would see something. Somebody would say something, like, ‘Hey, we just saw something strange in the water.'"

Monestime said drownings happen occasionally near Elbow Cay, but then reiterated that victims are recovered quickly.

Brian Hooker, 58, was arrested and jailed last Wednesday as police investigated his wife's disappearance. The pair left the Abaco Inn in their dinghy at around 7:30 p.m. on April 4 during rough weather. Choppy seas and high winds caused Lynette to fall overboard with the initiation key in her pocket, disabling the boat, Brian said.

He was released from custody Monday night after five days, but the investigation remains ongoing.

Brian said that in the ensuing panic after Lynette fell off the dinghy, he tossed a flotation device to her. He said he thought she was attempting to swim to their anchored yacht, and called out to her for about an hour. He paddled and drifted for about eight hours before washing ashore at Marsh Harbour on Great Abaco Island, where local security guards at a marina assisted him.

The couple from Michigan was pursuing their retirement dream of living on their yacht and sailing around the world.

Brian said in a Facebook post that he was "heartbroken" by Lynette's disappearance.

FREEPORT, Bahamas — The husband of a missing American woman who was held in a Bahamian jail for five days before his Monday night release will remain in the Bahamas, according to his attorney.

Brian Hooker said in an interview with NBC News on Tuesday that he would never hurt his wife, Lynette, who vanished on Saturday, April 4. He would not discuss details about what happened that day, saying that he did not want to take any chance that something could interfere with the search for her.

Hooker teared up talking about being apart from his wife of about 25 years.

"Lynette is my life," he told NBC. "We belong to each other."

MISSING AMERICAN WOMAN’S HUSBAND BRIAN HOOKER RELEASED AFTER ARREST IN BAHAMAS DISAPPEARANCE

Hooker was behind bars at the Central Police Station in Freeport from Wednesday to Monday evening as the Rohal Bahamian Police Force (RBPF), in conjunction with the U.S. Coast Guard, investigated the disappearance of his wife off the coast of Elbow Cay in Great Abaco Island.

"He wants to continue with the search for his wife, because that is his main focus," Terrel Butler told ӣ��Ƶ Digital. "So as long as he can remain in the Bahamas, you remain in the Bahamas."

She said that on Tuesday, Hooker will meet with Bahamian police in an attempt to recover electronics, including his phone and computer, that were confiscated during the investigation.

He maintained his innocence throughout the investigation, which is still ongoing, and his time in custody. Bahamian authorities have the option to arrest Hooker again if they see fit.

It is unclear whether Hooker is currently in possession of his passport.

Hooker walked out the front door of the Central Police Station, attorney in tow, at around 8:30 p.m. on Wednesday night. The pair bolted for a taxi, and Hooker stayed overnight at a local hotel.

Lynette Hooker was last seen the night of April 4 after the couple left the Abaco Inn on a dinghy headed back to their anchored yacht.

According to Brian, the wind gusts and choppy waters rocked their eight-foot dinghy as they left the harbor outside the restaurant and resort, and Lynette fell overboard. Subsequently, he said, he drifted and paddled about four miles before washing up on a rocky beach in Marsh Harbour, where he encountered a security guard at a boatyard who called police.

Hooker said he initially helped police with the search before he was taken into custody on Wednesday.

Bahamian law allows for a 48-hour detention in jail without charging someone with a crime. Under special circumstances, that detention can be extended, and in Hooker's case, it was. He spent 72 more hours behind bars after authorities decided not to release him on Friday night.

Family members, including his step-daughter, made claims of abuse against the 58-year-old, who is from Michigan but retired to his boat with his wife several years ago.

"I've seen him choke out one of his daughters before. And we had to go to court for that," Karli Aylesworth told Fox & Friends last week. "So he's just repeating patterns."

Hooker denied wrongdoing and has spoken publicly about the incident, saying in a Facebook post that he is "heartbroken."
