Suspect in ICE custody after fentanyl, cocaine hits deputy in face

A Wisconsin sheriff's deputy sifting through money taken from an illegal immigrant suspect arrested on drug charges became ill when she was hit in the face with airborne powdered fentanyl and cocaine, authorities said.

The exposure happened when Jose Fredy Rodriguez Acuna, 25, of Portage, was being booked into the jail on March 31, the Columbia County Sheriff's office said.

Acuna had been arrested earlier that day during a traffic stop. While he was being booked into the jail, deputies were taking inventory of Acuna's belongings, authorities said.

"While manipulating US Currency taken from the subject, she unfolded a bill which contained a powdery substance," said Columbia County Sheriff Roger Brandner. "The powdery substance became airborne directly into the face of the deputy causing an exposure."

The deputy suffered a "medical event" and needed immediate care, authorities said. Other deputies administered Narcan, an over-the-counter nasal spray or injection that rapidly reverses opioid overdoses, on the sick deputy.

The deputy was taken to a hospital and was expected to make a full recovery.

The powdered substance tested positive for cocaine and fentanyl, the sheriff's office said. Last week, Acuna was charged with possession of cocaine and possession of narcotic drugs.

He was ordered held on a $1,000 cash bond. U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) lodged a detainer request with the sheriff's office, and he was taken into federal custody.

Brandner noted that people arrested for drug offenses often conceal drugs and paraphernalia in their belongings during the intake process.

"The danger doesn't stop on the street, and our jail staff must be prepared for his danger," he said. "Our staff did a fantastic job identifying and responding to this life-threatening emergency. We are thankful that the deputy will be able to recover."

Illegal migrant babysitter accused in 5-year-old attack now faces major charges

An illegal immigrant from Guatemala accused of sexually abusing a 5-year-old Long Island, N.Y., girl he was babysitting has been charged with rape, federal authorities said Thursday.

Carlos Aguilar Reynoso is charged with predatory sex assault against a child, vaginal sexual contact with a child, sexual abuse, acting in a manner to injure a child and resisting arrest, the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) said.

Reynoso was originally charged with only child endangerment. However, local authorities asked U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) to arrest him while they gathered evidence to build a larger case against him.

Reynoso, 27, was babysitting the girl as a favor to her mother. When the mother returned home from work on Feb. 1, she discovered her daughter bleeding, prompting her to take her to a hospital, authorities said.

"While local law enforcement processed DNA evidence and built their case, they contacted ICE to arrest this pedophile so he would not be released into our communities to prey on more innocent children," said Acting DHS Assistant Secretary Lauren Bis.

"On March 16, ICE transferred this monster to local law enforcement to face justice for his reprehensible crimes," she added.

ICE took Reynoso into custody on Feb. 2 as he was coming out of a police precinct, where he appeared for a desk ticket on the child endangerment charge, the New York Post previously reported.

He was turned over to local authorities on March 16. A federal immigration judge issued a deportation order for Reynoso on the same day.

Authorities don't know when he illegally entered the United States, but DHS noted that seven of the 10 safest cities cooperate with ICE.

DHS releases new evidence in case of Dem staffer accused of impersonating ICE attorney

The Department of Homeland Security (DHS) has released additional evidence it says confirms that a staffer for Rep. Veronica Escobar, D-Texas, lied about being an attorney for detainees at a U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) center in an effort to meet with them and sneak in smuggled cell phones.

In March, acting ICE Director Todd Lyons informed Escobar in a letter about Benito Torres, a senior caseworker on the congresswoman's staff, who Lyons said lied about being a lawyer for detainees in ICE custody at the Camp East Montana center at Fort Bliss in El Paso.

Lyons requested that Escobar answer several questions about Torres' alleged actions.

"Rep. Escobar refused to respond honestly. Instead, she took to X to defend Torres and gaslight the public," DHS said Thursday.

Initially, DHS released an image of a sign-in log showing Torres allegedly claiming to be a "lawyer" visiting a "client." ICE records show he first misrepresented himself as a legal professional in September 2025, Lyons said.

A Feb. 18 memo states that, on a Jan. 23 visit to the center, Torres falsely claimed to be an attorney while requesting to see 22 detainees. It was determined that he was not a legal professional, the memo said.

The most recent incident allegedly happened Jan. 30.

"Torres lied about being an attorney in order to gain access to an ICE detention facility," a DHS statement said. "He misrepresented himself repeatedly over the course of several months, talking directly to detainees even though he was NOT their legal counsel. He even passed a phone around multiple detainees during a January 2026 visit, a dangerous violation of security protocols.

"Actions like Mr. Torres’ are meant to undermine ICE’s statutory mission to enforce immigration laws and remove illegal aliens from the interior."

At the time of the initial allegations by DHS, Escobar described Torres as "a dedicated public servant" and "Army veteran," saying the accusations against him were "unfounded."

She also criticized the facility and accused the Trump administration of retaliatory tactics.

"It is worth noting that ICE has refused to respond to multiple letters I’ve sent about Camp East Montana regarding deaths, including a homicide; outbreaks of diseases including COVID-19, measles, and tuberculosis; waste, fraud, and abuse; a lack of legal representation or medical care; and so much more," she said.

"This administration has a history of engaging in intimidation tactics against Members of Congress as well as continuously attempting to obstruct our ability to provide oversight.

American Airlines flight diverted to Detroit after passenger allegedly makes ominous threat

A passenger on a Chicago-bound American Airlines flight made a false bomb threat, forcing the aircraft to make an emergency landing in Detroit, authorities said.

Jason Douglas Pazol was having a breakdown over medication issues on flight 2819 when he allegedly told other passengers and crew: "I will blow this f------ plane up," during the March 29 incident, the Justice Department said.

"I swear to God, I am going to do something terrible," he said, according to court documents.

The flight was packed with 150 passengers and crew when it departed from New York's John F. Kennedy International Airport and was quickly diverted to the Detroit Metro Airport.

Everyone was removed from the aircraft, and it was taken to an isolated area and checked for explosives. None were found and the passengers and crew were re-screened.

A federal complaint said that Pazol said he made the threat because he wanted to prevent "an outburst. He felt that the passengers on the flight were not safe around him, so he made the threat to force the aircraft to land."

No one was injured.

"I know why people say stuff like that," Pazol later admitted to authorities, federal prosecutors said. "I know why people say, 'Get this f------ plane on the ground,' and 'Blow it up,' because that's what people do to get planes landed. Not because I want the plane landed, but because I am f------ sick."

Pazol is charged with conveying false or misleading information.

Florida vice mayor found dead in home after 'domestic violence incident'; husband in police custody

A South Florida city leader was found dead in her home Wednesday, and her husband was in police custody, authorities said.

Coral Springs Vice Mayor Nancy Metayer Bowen was found by police officers at around 10 a.m. Wednesday after they began an investigation into her "well-being," the South Florida Sun Sentinel reported.

Police Chief Brad Mock didn't provide any details about the circumstances of Bowen's death, saying it was being investigated as a "domestic violence incident." Bowen’s husband, Stephen Bowen, was in police custody, Mock said.

The chief said there were no other suspects being sought.

Before being elected to the commission, Bowen worked as an environmental scientist who formerly served on the Broward County Soil and Water Conservation District, the South Florida Sun Sentinel reported.

Bowen's family confirmed her death on her social media accounts.

"Throughout her years in public office, she led with integrity, compassion, and an unwavering sense of purpose," the family’s statement said.

"She believed in bringing people together, listening to those she served, and working tirelessly to create positive change in her community. To us, she was a source of strength, wisdom, and love — someone who always put others before herself.

U.S. Rep. Maxwell Alejandro Frost, D-Fla., said he was saddened to hear of Bowen's death, remembering her as a "tireless advocate, a dedicated progressive leader, and a powerful voice for her community."

In a post on Truth Social, Trump said he was working with Interior Secretary Doug Burgum on the project, the latest in a series of beautification initiatives targeted by the Trump administration.

President Donald Trump said Tuesday he plans to attend Wednesday's case before the U.S. Supreme Court about who is entitled to birthright citizenship.

The justices will hear arguments in Trump v. Barbara, which is challenging his 2025 executive order ending the birthright citizenship practice.

Trump issued the order upon taking office, saying birthright citizenship, a product of the 14th Amendment that has been widely interpreted to guarantee citizenship to anyone born in the U.S., has been widely abused by foreigners, specifically illegal immigrants.

"That's not what it was for. It wasn't for billionaires bringing people in or family, and it was for the children of slaves."

Critics warn that if birthright citizenship ended, it could create a new class of people born in the U.S. who are not recognized as citizens, while supporters say it would be an incentive for illegal immigration and exploitation.

A Chinese married couple convicted of trying to steal cutting-edge research from an Ohio children's hospital to share with China will have their U.S. citizenship revoked, the Justice Department (DOJ) said Tuesday.

U.S. Judge James E. Simmons Jr., ordered that Li Chen and Yu Zhou be stripped of their naturalized U.S. citizenship, citing their convictions for wire fraud and conspiracy to commit theft of trade secrets, which involved "moral turpitude" that prevented them from having the good moral character necessary to naturalize, federal prosecutors said.

"Gaining citizenship after committing serious crimes against the American people is an unacceptable abuse of our immigration system," Attorney General Pam Bondi said.

"These latest denaturalizations illustrate this Department of Justice's focus on ensuring that citizenship remains a privilege to obtain, not a right to abuse."

Chen and Zhou worked for Nationwide Children’s Hospital in Columbus in separate research labs for a decade and founded a biotech company in China established using stolen trade secrets, authorities said.

The proprietary information helped the pair develop kits for identifying and treating different medical conditions, the DOJ said, adding Chen received support from the Chinese government in setting up the business.

Zhou entered the United States in 2005 as an exchange visitor. Zhou arrived in the U.S. again in 2008, on a specialty occupation visa sponsored by NCH, and he adjusted his immigration status to permanent resident in 2011 as the derivative spouse of Chen.

Chen became a naturalized U.S. citizen in 2016, and Zhou naturalized in 2017. Zhou and Chen were arrested in 2019 for crimes related to theft of medical trade secrets, the DOJ said.

They both received $1.5 million in transactions resulting from their exchange of exosome isolation intellectual property.

Chen was sentenced to 30 months in prison and three years of supervised release, and Zhou was sentenced to 33 months in prison.

Federal judge blocks Trump executive order to cease funding for NPR and PBS, cites First Amendment

A federal judge on Tuesday blocked the Trump administration's efforts to defund PBS and NPR.

The ruling by U.S. District Judge Randolph Moss in Washington, D.C., pertains to President Donald Trump's executive order to cease federal funding for both entities, an action the judge ruled was unlawful and unenforceable.

"It is difficult to conceive of clearer evidence that a government action is targeted at viewpoints that the President does not like and seeks to squelch," wrote Moss, an Obama appointee.

"The Federal Defendants fail to cite a single case in which a court has ever upheld a statute or executive action that bars a particular person or entity from participating in any federally funded activity based on that person or entity’s past speech," the judge wrote.

Republicans have long campaigned on ending federal funding for public media, citing left-wing political bias and wasteful spending of taxpayer dollars.

"The message is clear: NPR and PBS need not apply for any federal benefit because the President disapproves of their ‘left-wing’ coverage of the news," Moss wrote.

The White House called Tuesday's ruling "ridiculous."

"This is a ridiculous ruling by an activist judge attempting to undermine the law," White House spokesperson Abigail Jackson told ӣ��Ƶ Digital. "NPR and PBS have no right to receive taxpayer funds, and Congress already voted to defund them. The Trump Administration looks forward to ultimate victory on the issue."

NPR claimed that Trump wanted to cut off access to public funds as punishment for its reporting. In a statement to ӣ��Ƶ Digital, Katherine Maher, NPR’s president and CEO, called Tuesday's ruling a win for a free and independent press.

While the government argued some legal claims were moot because of the organizational shifts following the initial defunding attempts, Judge Moss disagreed.

Canadian murder suspect on most-wanted list arrested in Mississippi, was in US illegally, DHS says

An illegal immigrant who was one of Canada's most wanted fugitives was arrested last week in Mississippi, the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) announced Tuesday.

Adrian Vincent Walker, 28, who was among the top 25 most-wanted international fugitives in Canada, is accused of first-degree murder.

"Thanks to the brave men and women of ICE, one of Canada’s most wanted criminals is behind bars. This individual was wanted for a murder in Canada," said Acting DHS Assistant Secretary Lauren Bis. "He is now facing charges for illegal entry into the U.S. and illegal possession of a firearm."

Federal authorities arrested Walker on March 23 at a residence in Tupelo.

The mayor of Rhode Island's capital city is calling for a mural reportedly backed by Elon Musk to honor Iryna Zarutska —the Ukrainian woman whose brutal murder while riding a North Carolina train prompted calls for harsher punishment for career criminals — to be taken down.

The mural, located on the exterior of The Dark Lady, an LGBTQ+ club in downtown Providence, remains incomplete, WJAR-TV reported.

The suspect, Decarlos Brown Jr., 34, is charged with violence against a railroad carrier and mass transportation system resulting in death, which is a capital offense under federal law.

Records from the North Carolina Department of Adult Correction show Brown has a prior criminal history, including convictions for larceny, breaking and entering and armed robbery.

He served five years in prison starting in 2015.

Zarutska's death prompted questions about soft on crime policies adopted by many Democratic-run cities. President Donald Trump spotlighted the killing during his State of the Union address last month.

"Iryna was riding home on the train when a deranged monster, who had been arrested over a dozen times and was released through no-cash bail, stood up and viciously slashed a knife through her neck and body," Trump said.

An illegal alien with a long criminal history remains on the run after he attempted to hit a U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) officer with his vehicle in California as authorities were trying to arrest him, the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) said Monday.

ICE was attempting to take Xa Lee, a fugitive and Laotian citizen, into custody on March 25 in Sacramento. Lee was driving when he was pulled over, according to DHS.

During the vehicle stop, Lee attempted to flee and tried to strike an ICE officer with his car.

"The officer, thankfully, did not sustain injuries. During the incident, ICE officers deployed their tasers. He fled the scene and remains at large," DHS Acting Assistant Secretary Lauren Bis said. "This is just the latest in a disturbing trend of vehicle attacks."

DHS noted that Lee's evasion of arrest came amid a history of webinars by Democratic elected officials who advised undocumented immigrants on how to evade ICE and report encounters with federal immigration authorities.

The agency cited California Gov. Gavin Newsom, Los Angeles Mayor Karen Bass, and U.S. Reps. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez and Dan Goldman, both Democrats.

All four politicians have repeatedly called for the Trump administration to halt its deportation campaign targeting criminal illegal immigrants.

A 15-year-old Texas high school student shot a teacher Monday morning before fatally shooting himself, authorities said.

The teacher was shot at the Hill Country College Preparatory High School in Bulverde, a suburb north of San Antonio, the Comal County Sheriff's Office said.

Prosecutors detail moments before illegal immigrant allegedly killed college student

Prosecutors revealed that the illegal immigrant accused of killing a Loyola University Chicago student was hiding behind a lighthouse before running toward the group of friends she was with, firing his weapon, which left Sheridan Gorman dead.

Jose Medina-Medina, 25, allegedly killed Gorman while she was with friends on a pier on March 19 just after 1 a.m., according to officials. Medina-Medina, the suspect in Gorman's murder, entered the country illegally on May 9, 2023, and was apprehended then released into the U.S. under the Biden administration, according to the Department of Homeland Security (DHS).

Prosecutors revealed in court on Friday that Gorman was with her friends at a Rogers Park pier when she looked around the lighthouse and saw Medina-Medina there. Gorman then walked back towards her friends and mouthed "there's a man behind the lighthouse," at which point Medina-Medina began chasing them. Gorman's friends' called 911 twice.

While the group of people were running away, prosecutors said Gorman was shot in the upper back. Her friends kept running until they found a place to hide, then went back to check on Gorman, who was unresponsive.

"Sheridan was doing something completely ordinary—something any parent would expect their child to be able to do safely," Gorman's family said in a statement following Friday's proceeding. "And yet, she is not here. That is what we carry with us today. And that is what must stay at the center of this case."

While Medina-Medina was in Colombia, he was shot in the head, which resulted in the loss of a portion of his brain and skull, leaving him to relearn basic functions, his attorney said. Medina-Medina's attorney said that he has the brain development of a child and cannot read or write.

Medina-Medina's attorney also said that he suffers from epilepsy and still has bullet fragments lodged in his brain. The murder suspect turned himself in at the Texas border in 2023, where he was held in detention before being released. His attorney said that Medina-Medina requested to be sent back to Colombia, where his mother had moved to, but was transported by bus to Chicago.

During Medina-Medina's time in a shelter, he contracted tuberculosis, according to his attorney.

Members of the Gorman family along with friends of the slain college student were present at the court hearing via Zoom, where a judge held Medina-Medina to be detained pending trial.

"We sat in a courtroom and listened as the person accused of taking Sheridan’s life was described through the lens of his background, his circumstances, and his struggles," Gorman's family said. "We heard a call for compassion. And we understand that instinct. Every life has a story. But we cannot lose sight of the simple, devastating truth at the center of all of this: Sheridan had a life too."

"There is a difference between understanding a life and excusing a loss," they added.

Criminal defense attorney David Gaeger told ӣ��Ƶ Digital that the judge was "deservingly harsh" on Medina-Medina, noting that even if the defense was open to the suspect being released into ICE custody, a judge wouldn't allow it. Immigration officials filed an immigration detainer for Medina-Medina.

A detention hearing for him was scheduled for Monday, but was postponed until Friday as court officials said he was being treated for tuberculosis. He's facing charges of murder, attempted murder, aggravated assault, aggravated discharge of a firearm, and illegal possession of a weapon.

A Cook County Sheriff's Office spokesman told ӣ��Ƶ Digital Friday that Medina-Medina was in the medical division of its jail. He was at a local hospital earlier in the week before being transferred to the jail.

Criminal defense attorney Donna Rotunno told ӣ��Ƶ Digital the decision to postpone Medina-Medina's hearing on Monday was likely made by the Cook County Sheriff's Department and medical personnel.

A native of Yorktown Heights, New York, Gorman attended Yorktown High School and was described in an obituary as someone who "had a way of making people feel seen, valued, and believed in."

"There was nothing reckless, nothing unusual, nothing that should have placed her in danger. And yet, she is gone. That is the reality we are forced to confront. And nothing said in that courtroom changes it.

"What we heard today forces a broader question that cannot be ignored: How does something like this happen in a place where a young woman should have been safe?" they added. Earlier, they said what happened to Gorman isn't a reflection of the Loyola community, but instead, the result of a "failure outside of it," the family added.

A police source told ӣ��Ƶ earlier that the shooting was an apparent ambush , adding that the suspect was reportedly wearing some kind of face mask or covering.

An arrest report obtained by ӣ��Ƶ Digital states that, after the shooting, Medina-Medina was captured on security video in his apartment building lobby waiting for an elevator and wasn't masked. A building engineer told police he knew the suspect who had a "very distinct limp and gait."

Pictures of the suspect's face were sent to a police database, and information from U.S. Customs and Border Protection identified the suspect as Medina-Medina.

Court documents obtained by ӣ��Ƶ Digital show that Medina-Medina told officials he was living at Leone Beach Park fieldhouse in Rogers Park in 2023, which was being used as a city-sponsored shelter for migrants. Medina-Medina was arrested in 2023 and charged with shoplifting after he allegedly stole just over $130 in merchandise from a Macy's in downtown Chicago. He failed to appear for court hearings related to that case, and an arrest warrant remained active until the alleged murder.

The White House pushed back hard Friday against a news report that Todd Lyons, the acting director of U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE), had been hospitalized at least twice for stress-related issues with the Trump administration that left him visibly upset and strained.

The pushback came after a Politico report said Lyons was hospitalized at least twice while carrying out President Donald Trump's immigration agenda.

The stress has left Lyons unable to carry out key decisions, the report states, citing two current and two former administration officials who were unnamed.

"He would be visibly upset and struggling to make the decisions that were needed to be made by the director," one former unnamed official told the news website.

"Trash reporting from a trash "reporter" pushing tabloid b------- in an attempt to divide and distract. Todd Lyons is an American Patriot," the White House Rapid Response X account said in response to the story.

The episodes were attributed to pressure from above for Lyons to ramp up deportations and from top advisor Stephen Miller, who allegedly yelled at Lyons during morning phone calls with administration officials, Politico reported.

"This is b------- and more of the trash that Daniel Lippman has peddled over the years in the name of clicks and clout," Miller's wife, Katie Miller, wrote on X in response to the Politico reporter's story.

White House spokeswoman Abigail Jackson said Politico was given "on record" denials prior to the story being published.

The reported hospitalizations took place over several months. In one incident, Lyons was driven to a hospital by his security detail, and he was admitted overnight.

In September, Lyons became distressed that ICE agents were unable to locate an illegal immigrant in Los Ángeles during a ride-along with top administration officials.

One of his bodyguards took a portable defibrillator from a nearby government office to Lyons in case he needed medical intervention, the report said.

After heated calls with Miller, Lyons expressed frustration that the White House was often mad at his agency, according to the current official and former official who heard such comments.

ICE arrests Latin Kings member after NYC sanctuary release despite assault charge on first responder

An illegal immigrant gang member accused of assaulting a first responder was arrested by U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agents after he was released by New York City authorities despite him posing a danger to public safety, the Department of Homeland Security said Friday.

Bryan David Tasiguano Leon, an Ecuadorian citizen, was arrested by the New York Police Department on Feb.14 on suspicion of assault on a first responder. He has a prior arrest for assault and family neglect.

Leon, a member of the Latin Kings, was subsequently released from custody despite ICE having lodged a detainer with the NYPD so he could be transferred to federal authorities, DHS said.

ICE agents arrested Leon on March 4 during immigration enforcement operations in New York City. He remains in ICE custody pending deportation proceedings.

Leon first illegally entered the United States around Nov. 11, 2022 through the southern border and was released into the country by the Biden administration. He was issued a final order of removal by a judge on Feb. 27, 2025.

Upon taking office in January, New York Mayor Zorhan Mamdani signed an executive order reaffirming the city's sanctuary laws, which limits cooperation between local and federal authorities on immigration enforcement.

On Friday, Mamdani said ICE should be abolished, calling it "rogue" and "reckless" as he faced questions about the death of an 83-year-old Air Force veteran who died after allegedly being shoved onto subway tracks by an illegal immigrant earlier this month.

"I have made clear to the president, both in our private conversations and our public conversations, about the fact that I believe that ICE is a rogue agency."

The mayor added that he believes ICE "delivers nothing toward the furthering of the cause of public safety."

Currently, there are 7,113 illegal immigrants in custody across New York state with an active ICE detainer. Their crimes include 148 homicides, 717 assaults, 134 burglaries, 106 robberies, 235 dangerous drug offenses, 152 weapons offenses, and 260 sexual predatory offenses, DHS said.

Johnson accuses Democrats of taking government hostage over ‘crazy’ immigration agenda

House Speaker Mike Johnson chastised congressional Democrats Friday, saying Republicans will not be part of any effort to reopen America's borders and stop the deportation of criminal illegal immigrants.

Johnson held a two-hour conference call with House Republicans Friday, saying they were all "united" in the party's position to fully fund the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) to end the partial government shutdown that has injected chaos into air travel.

"They have taken hostage the funding processes of government so that they can impose their radical agenda on the American people," Johnson told reporters of Senate Democrats.

On Friday, the Senate advanced a bill to fund much of DHS, except for U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) and U.S. Border Patrol.

"The only thing standing between ending this chaos or not are House Republicans," Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries said. "There’s a bipartisan bill that emerged from the Senate with uniform support, and it should be brought to the floor immediately so we can pay TSA agents, so we can end the chaos at airports across the country and stop inconveniencing millions of Americans."

Democrats have refused to fully fund DHS unless Republicans agree to new restrictions on federal immigration authorities.

"This gambit that was done last night is a joke," Johnson said of the bill. Lawmakers have come under increased pressure to strike a deal to pay Transportation Security Administration (TSA) agents after many have resigned and lines at airports across the country have swelled daily because of staffing issues.

On Thursday, President Donald Trump signed an executive order to pay TSA agents despite Congress having not appropriated the funds for it.

Johnson said Republicans will put forward a continuing resolution for all agencies under DHS to keep operating at their current funding levels.

President Donald Trump announced a series of actions Friday aimed at assisting farmers and food suppliers to help cut costs amid rising energy prices, promising a new "golden age" for the agricultural industry.

Trump shared guidance on farm equipment regulations in an effort to cut costs and increase government loan guarantees for agricultural products, including tractors, among other reforms.

He said a lot of farm equipment has become unaffordable for many farmers.

"Every day we're looking for new ways to support our farmers, reduce your costs and to help lower the price of food for the American family," Trump said on the South Lawn of the White House. "We're going to prove that the golden age of American agriculture is right here and right now."

A Russian man convicted of assaulting a woman in London in an attack witnessed by Barron Trump, President Donald Trump’s youngest son, on a video call was sentenced to four years in prison by a London court on Friday.

Matvei Rumiantsev, 23, an MMA fighter, was convicted by a jury on Jan. 28 of assault with bodily harm but was acquitted of rape and choking charges. He was also convicted of perverting the course of justice stemming from a letter he sent the woman from jail asking her to retract her allegations.

After the assault, Rumiantsev admitted he was jealous of his girlfriend's friendship with the 19-year-old son of President Donald Trump.

"That view lasted maybe one second and I was racing with adrenaline," Barron Trump said. "The camera was then flipped to the victim getting hit while crying, stating something in Russian."

Barron Trump called the police in London.

"It’s really an emergency … I’m calling from the U.S., uh, I just got a call from a girl, you know, she’s getting beat up," he told an operator.

At his trial at Snaresbrook Crown Court, Rumiantsev was acquitted of rape and choking related to the attack, as well as a separate rape and assault allegation from November 2024.

His attorney, Sasha Wass, said that Trump wasn't aware the woman had a boyfriend and questioned how much he could have seen in just a few seconds of video.

Americans traveling abroad could be targets for arbitrary arrests or attacks, the agency has warned.

In its interactive world map, the agency has branded several Middle Eastern countries as unsafe for Americans to travel to. Saudi Arabia, Oman, Kuwait and Bahrain have moved from Level 2 to Level 3 advisories, meaning Americans should exercise caution or reconsider their travels to those locations altogether, the New York Post first reported.

Iran has been branded a "Level 4: Do Not Travel" destination, with Americans facing risks of wrongful detention, violence and kidnapping amid the unrest there.

Countries with a Level 3 advisory — meaning Americans should reconsider travel — include Bahrain, Colombia, Honduras, Israel, Nicaragua, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates and Venezuela.

Countries where Americans should exercise increased caution (Level 2) include Cuba, the Dominican Republic, France, Greenland, Italy, Mexico and the United Kingdom.

Parts of Mexico have been designated as Level 4 zones, including Sinaloa and Colima, while other states like Jalisco and Baja California are designated Level 3 due to cartel activity.

Treasury to place Trump’s signature on paper currency to mark nation's 250th anniversary

U.S. dollar bills will bear President Donald Trump's signature to mark the 250th anniversary of American independence, the Treasury Department said, a first for a sitting president.

Trump's signature will be placed on all U.S. paper currency and will replace the Treasurer of the United States' signature on U.S. money for the first time in 165 years. Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent said the move will recognize the Trump administration's "historic achievements."

"Under President Trump’s leadership, we are on a path toward unprecedented economic growth, lasting dollar dominance and fiscal strength and stability," Bessent said in a statement.

"There is no more powerful way to recognize the historic achievements of our great country and President Donald J. Trump than U.S. dollar bills bearing his name, and it is only appropriate that this historic currency be issued at the Semiquincentennial."

The first $100 bills with the signatures of Trump and Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent will be produced in June, followed by other denominations in the coming months, Reuters reported.

In a statement, Treasurer Brandon Beach said placing Trump's signature on U.S. currency is "not only appropriate, but also well-deserved," given his "mark on history as the architect of America’s Golden Age economic revival."

Thursday's announcement came as Trump makes efforts to put himself on a coin. The design of a commemorative gold coin with his image was approved by a federal arts panel.

Long Island woman missing after jumping from moving vehicle in panicked state

A Long Island, New York, woman could be in danger as she vanished after suddenly jumping out of a moving vehicle and running off last week, her loved ones said.

Brittany Kritis-Garip, 32, was last seen on surveillance footage in Oyster Bay around 8 p.m. Friday before she was reported missing, News 12 Long Island reported.

Her husband, Fernando Garip, said she was in a panicked state, jumped out of a moving car, threw her phone into a bush and ran off.

That was the last time her family saw her. Garip told Patch that volunteers have searched wooded areas, as well as rural and suburban areas.

Niko Kritis, told Patch that his sister was "vulnerable" and asked that residents check their properties for spaces where someone could seek shelter.

"Those small, careful actions could be what brings Brittany home," he said. "We believe Brittany may be trying to isolate or avoid contact, and it’s possible she could be sheltering in secluded or hidden areas."

He also asked homeowners to check their security cameras.

"We believe she was disoriented and frightened, and may think she is in danger," search organizer Sarah Castor wrote on an online crowdfunding page. "She is not dangerous — she needs help."

Volunteers have searched a one-mile stretch of shoreline near Oyster Bay Harbor after Kritis-Garip’s wallet was discovered on a road leading down to the water, Castor wrote on Facebook Wednesday.

"Brittany is an incredible, kind person and any efforts are appreciated by all who know her," she wrote.

The Nassau County Police Department has used its helicopter and drones several times since Friday as part of the ongoing search.

An 83-year-old veteran who was allegedly shoved onto subway tracks in New York City by an illegal immigrant with a long criminal history has died from his injuries, the Department of Homeland Security said Thursday.

Richard Williams, a retired Air Force pilot, died March 17 after he and another man were allegedly pushed onto the tracks at the Lexington Avenue-63rd Station days earlier.

The alleged attacker, Honduran national Bairon Posada-Hernandez, 34, was arrested March 10 and faces a murder charge.

John Pena, 30, the other man allegedly pushed onto the tracks, helped pull Williams back onto the platform moments before a train rolled into the station, the New York Post reported.

After the attack, Williams was taken to a hospital, where doctors said he suffered a brain bleed and underwent surgery. He had no brain activity after the procedure, doctors said.

Williams' death has been ruled a homicide.

"I want him to go to the Venezuela prison, the worst place he could go to," his daughter, Debbie Williams, previously told the newspaper. "I want him to suffer for the rest of his life. Prison justice would be appropriate."

She said her father had recently won a five-year battle with prostate cancer six months ago.

Hernandez's public defender, Mitchell Schuman, declined ot comment on the charges against his client.

"We have yet to see the indictment, concluded our investigation or reviewed the expected voluminous discovery materials," he said.

Posada-Hernandez, whom the Department of Homeland Security called a "serial criminal," has been deported from the United States four times, the agency said.

"Bairon Posada-Hernandez is a serial criminal and four-time deported illegal alien from Honduras who should never have been able to walk our streets and harm innocent Americans," said Deputy Assistant Secretary Lauren Bis.

Federal authorities are asking New York not to release Posada-Hernandez back onto the streets. New York has adopted sanctuary policies limiting cooperation between local and federal authorities.

Posada-Hernandez's criminal history includes 15 prior charges, including simple assault, domestic violence, obstruction of police, possession of a weapon, drug possession and aggravated assault.

He first entered the country Jan. 2, 2008, and has been deported four different times, most recently in 2020. It was unclear when he reentered the U.S. for a fifth time, DHS said.

A U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agent saved the life of a 1-year-old boy Wednesday who stopped breathing while in line at New York City's John F. Kennedy International Airport, authorities said.

The agent was assisting Transportation and Security Administration agents at the airport when he responded to a medical emergency involving the child, the Department of Homeland Security said.

The boy became unresponsive in the arms of his father, DHS said. Security footage from inside the airport showed a passenger in a TSA PreCheck line holding the boy.

The child's arms became lifeless, sparking a panic as his father scrambled to find help.

An agent working his post heard the father's screams and panic from passengers and rushed to the scene. He assessed the child and began performing the Heimlich maneuver, DHS said.

After a few seconds, the child started to breathe again. Responding paramedics evaluated the boy, and he was healthy enough to fly.

"This heroic officer immediately sprang into action—rushing toward the cries, taking the child, and performing a Heimlich maneuver that restored the infant’s breathing after nearly two minutes," DHS said. "This officer’s extraordinary bravery embodies the selfless service of DHS law enforcement."

The boy was the second child to be saved by ICE in recent weeks. On Feb. 20, a 4-year-old boy was saved by off-duty ICE agents in Massachusetts when he fell into a hotel swimming pool and almost drowned.

The agents happened to be inside a restaurant in Plymouth when they were approached by a panicked woman seeking assistance for the unresponsive child.

The agents performed CPR before paramedics arrived.

Arizona gun dealer armed two Mexican drug cartels, DOJ says

An Arizona gun dealer was indicted last week by a federal grand jury amid allegations he provided weapons to at least two Mexican drug cartels, the Justice Department said Wednesday.

Laurence Gray, 65, of Hereford, Arizona, knowingly provided guns to the Cartel de Jalisco Nueva Generacion (CJNG) and the Sinaloa Cartel in 2025, federal prosecutors said.

Both cartels have been designated by the State Department as foreign terrorist organizations.

He was charged with attempting to provide material support to a foreign terrorist organization and conspiracy to provide support to a designated foreign terrorist organization.

Gray, owner of Grips by Larry, a federally licensed dealer, was initially indicted last year alongside Barrett Weinberger, 73, of Tucson. Prosecutors said the pair were involved in illegal gun transactions.

On Feb. 22, 2025, Gray allegedly aided someone in the purchase of a Colt 1911 semi-automatic pistol. Other transactions happened in the ensuing months, court documents state.

The charges against them at the time included trafficking in firearms, aiding and abetting the straw purchasing of firearms and aiding and abetting material false statements during the purchase of a firearm. Last week's indictment added material support to terrorism charges against Gray.

"Mexican drug cartels extensively use straw purchasers within the United States to legally acquire firearms and illegally smuggle them across the border," according to the Justice Department and the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF).

The case is part of Operation Take Back America, a Trump administration initiative that streamlines efforts and resources within the Department of Homeland Security to crack down on illegal immigration and to "achieve the total elimination of cartels and transnational criminal organizations and protect our communities from the perpetrators of violent crime."
