Sydney Sweeney is telling Tom Cruise to "watch out" after she strapped herself to the top of an airplane.

On Monday, Sweeney uploaded a video of herself holding a GoPro camera and on top of a moving airplane. The "Euphoria" star showed the single-engine plane flipping upside down several times while she was attached to it.

"watch out tom cruise," Sweeney captioned the post.

Sweeney was in casual leggings and a navy crew neck, with her hair styled in pigtail braids as she remained calm during the airplane's crazy maneuvers.

Just a few days prior to sharing the video, Sweeney shed some light into her summer, which has mostly been spent with her boyfriend, Scooter Braun.

Sweeney took to Instagram on Saturday, Aug. 22, and captioned her post, "Camp '26," alongside a superhero emoji.

Teen hiker's disappearance ends in tragedy at national park with key question remaining

An eight-day search in a remote national park for a missing person has yielded a tragic outcome for a desperate family.

An 18-year-old Australian hiker was found dead in dense bushland, authorities said. Lily Hooper, a teenager from Oakdale, southwest of Sydney, had set out for a hike in the park, according to SBS News, a public broadcaster in Australia — and went missing on Aug. 12.

A body believed to be Hooper's was found in bushland in Nattai National Park, which New South Wales Police described as about 37 miles northwest of the town of Mittagong.

Authorities have not determined or released a cause of death.

The outlet reported that Hooper's car was found at the Bonnum Pic trailhead the same night she went missing.

The week-long search ended Thursday morning when "the body of a woman was located in bushland," said NSW Police.

"While yet to be formally identified, the body is believed to be that of the 18-year-old woman," police said late last week, adding that a report would be prepared for the coroner.

A volunteer located the body at around 11:30 a.m. on Thursday — but a communication breakdown initially led the young woman's family to believe she had been found alive, said New South Wales Police Assistant Commissioner Joseph Cassar.

"[The family] were [given] initial information [that] the searchers believed she was alive, and that's what was communicated," Cassar told reporters.

"Within eight to 10 minutes we were able to give them an update, which was a more accurate account," he added.

Hooper's death drew commentary from Australia's top political leaders and even prompted a moment of silence in Parliament.

"The tragedy of a parent losing a young one ... is an unspeakable tragedy," Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese said, per SBS News. "Lily had so much more to offer the world."

Jim Hooper, the father of Lily Hooper, praised emergency workers for their diligent efforts to find his daughter and forgave police and all involved for an apparent communication mix-up that she'd been found alive, according to 7NEWS Australia.

"Their hearts and their efforts — I couldn't knock it," he said.

Nattai National Park is known for its rugged hiking, sandstone cliffs and vast bushland, according to the New South Wales National Parks and Wildlife Service.

The agency separately warns hikers that cliff edges can be unstable or obscured by vegetation, conditions can change rapidly — and many national parks have limited cellphone coverage.

Officials recommend that hikers carry personal locator beacons when venturing into remote areas.

"Many national parks in NSW don't have mobile phone coverage," the website states.

"If you're planning a walk in a remote area, bring a Personal Locator Beacon (PLB) as an added safety precaution."

Hooper's death is the latest in a string of fatal hiking and climbing incidents in recent months.

Would it be shocking to learn that Ole Miss officials had someone with FBI ties help check its football facility in the days following Lane Kiffin’s departure for LSU?

Sure, if college athletics were operating in anything resembling normal times.

But with former NFL players now finding paths back to college football and Congress debating legislation that could limit coaches from leaving during a season, almost nothing feels too absurd anymore.

Walker Jones, the executive director of Ole Miss’ NIL collective, recently appeared on the "Assorted Crackers" podcast — yes, that is the name — to discuss the madness surrounding Kiffin’s exit for LSU.

During a conversation about coaches who were contractually tied to both Ole Miss and LSU, Jones revealed an unreported detail from the days leading up to the Rebels’ College Football Playoff appearance without Kiffin.

Technically, the FBI was involved.

"We actually had the FBI come through and walk the building for bugs and for everything," Walker Jones told 'Assorted Crackers'". "We knew kind of what was in Baton Rouge, and we knew how they operated. I remember getting on my knees and looking underneath the desk, like checking for, 'Is there some sort of bug in my office?'"

On Monday, while Kiffin was fielding questions in Baton Rouge about LSU adding former NFL players to its roster, the questions in Oxford were a bit different.

What exactly happened with that FBI search of the Ole Miss football facility?

Head coach Pete Golding did not deny that a sweep occurred, though he offered an explanation that made far more sense than the image of agents descending on the Manning Center with bug detectors.

"Any bowl game, playoff system, obviously you're gonna up security," Golding told reporters. I'm not sure there was a hiring process of here we go with the FBI. I do think we probably have a current player whose dad just so happens to work for the FBI and that lives in town. There was no measure to go 'oh my gosh, come in from that standpoint'.

"Obviously any time you get into that playoff system and you got guys going from this building to other places (LSU), you want to make sure it's secure for your players. The video access, everything else you're doing regardless where you're at....No, there was no hiring process of 'let's get the FBI in here, holy cow, they start looking around'. It wasn’t anything like that."

When Kiffin left Ole Miss for LSU, he took multiple assistants with him to Baton Rouge. During the chaotic stretch before Ole Miss played Tulane in the College Football Playoff, some coaches were traveling back and forth between Baton Rouge and Oxford.

Kiffin was also expected to target multiple Ole Miss players once the Rebels’ season ended, including Kewan Lacy and Trinidad Chambliss.

Ukraine marked its 35th Independence Day on Monday under the shadow of continued Russian attacks, with one regional security expert arguing that Russian President Vladimir Putin is "panicked" as Ukrainian forces strike deeper inside Russia.

The anniversary, commemorating Ukraine's Aug. 24, 1991, declaration of independence from the Soviet Union, came amid intensified Russian strikes on civilian infrastructure and heightened security concerns after Ukraine's Security Service warned of possible terrorist attacks ahead of the holiday.

European leaders joined Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy in Kyiv for Independence Day events in a show of support as the war grinds on. Zelenskyy declared that Ukraine wants peace but is not prepared to surrender to Moscow's demands.

A Russian drone strike Friday on a packed shopping center in Kryvyi Rih, Zelenskyy’s hometown, killed at least 16 people and injured 130, according to The Associated Press.

"The war with Russia has seen a lot of advances for the Ukrainians over this year," former Deputy Assistant Secretary of State Carrie Filipetti, now executive director of the Vandenberg Coalition, told ӣ��Ƶ Digital.

"They've recently been able to actually penetrate much deeper into Russian territory, including close to Moscow and St. Petersburg."

"Their success on the military front has now resulted in the Russians getting panicked and starting to attack more inside Ukraine and what they're really trying to do is weaken their will and capabilities," Filipetti said, adding that Putin "gets very anxious when he's put in a corner."

"What we're seeing is these sorts of gasps at trying to retain some kind of control," Filipetti added. "This is why he recently targeted a shopping mall inside Ukrainian territory. He is not focused on targeting military assets. He is really focused on trying to defeat the will of Ukrainians by attacking them."

Filipetti warned the targeting of civilian areas created heightened security risks as Ukraine marked its 35th Independence Day, more than four years into Russia's full-scale invasion.

Filipetti said the high-level participation underscored continued international support for Ukraine.

Ukrainian authorities urged citizens to stay vigilant on public transport and guard against potential sabotage or sharing media that could reveal military positions, as well as possible attacks, Ukrainian News reported.

"They should be particularly mindful about sharing any videos or photographs that could betray the locations of some of their frontline soldiers," Filipetti warned.

"The Russians really want to bleed the Ukrainians of people, equipment, and will before the Russians are bled of those same three things," Filipetti said. "And what we've seen over the course of this year is almost no territorial gains on behalf of the Russians."

They are losing more soldiers each month than they can recruit, forcing them to rely on North Korean, Cuban and other foreign fighters to fill the gap, Filipetti added.

"Remember, Putin thought that this was going to be a special military operation that was going to last a matter of weeks," Filipetti said.

"It sends a message to the Russians that any invasion of sovereign territory, like their invasion of Ukraine, is going to create more consequences for them," Filipetti said. "We are not losing steam, and we continue to support their operations, to continue to support their sovereignty."

Filipetti said it also sends an important message to other American adversaries like China.

'National Treasure' director predicts upcoming third film won't be able to 'ignore' politics

"National Treasure" director Jon Turteltaub suggested Friday that politics was a factor in delaying the third film in the Nicolas Cage-led franchise and predicted the issue would be addressed in the new sequel.

During a live recording of the "National Treasure Hunt" podcast in Philadelphia, Turteltaub confirmed to an audience that "National Treasure 3" was "finally real" with a finished script approved by him and Disney.

The original film, "National Treasure," came out in 2004 with its sequel, "National Treasure: Book of Secrets," premiering three years later in 2007. Both were directed by Turteltaub.

"He, like others, were surprised that Democrats made that movie because Democrats can’t be patriots," Turteltaub said, according to The Philadelphia Inquirer. "That’s the thought and it just got worse. And on the Democrats’ side: ‘Oh, Republicans, they just want to keep stuff to themselves, they hate everybody, they want to kill everyone, and blah blah blah.'"

Though he did not offer many details about the third film, Turteltaub predicted that it would inevitably have to address modern politics.

"We have to be very careful, but I don’t feel we are allowed to ignore it," Turteltaub said. "I think we have to include that idea in the story somehow without making someone feel put off."

"Now, it’s Hollywood real, meaning things could happen. Nic gets hit by a bus, there’s no 'National Treasure 3.' If I get hit by a bus, there’s probably a 'National Treasure 3.' Welcome to Hollywood," Turteltaub said.

In a comment to ӣ��Ƶ Digital, film critic Christian Toto, the founder and editor of Hollywood in Toto, said that it made sense for Hollywood to tackle another older franchise for nostalgia but expressed disappointment in the idea of addressing politics.

Kacey Musgraves is facing backlash after asking fans to donate to an immigrant children’s rights group as her birthday wish while kicking off her "Middle of Nowhere" tour.

On Friday, the country music star marked her 38th birthday on the opening night of her tour at the United Center in Chicago, Illinois. At one point, Musgraves paused her show and urged concertgoers to contribute to the Young Center for Immigrant Children's Rights.

"It’s a wonderful organization, and they help give aid — legal aid — and money to children whose parents have been deported unfairly," Musgraves said. "It’s not a political thing. It’s just, these kids need help."

She continued, "They have no guidance and no way to get through this thing without their homebase or their parents. So anyway, 50 cents, whatever the hell, I don't know, whatever you want to do but that would mean a lot to me."

Some critics declared that they would no longer support Musgraves and called for a boycott of her music and concerts.

"If she cares that much, she can fund it herself and let them live in one of her multi-million-dollar mansions."

However, some of the "Dry Spell" singer's fans defended her on social media and praised her for speaking out on behalf of immigrant children.

"Helping children caught in difficult circumstances is a worthy cause," one commenter argued. "At the same time, immigration enforcement and whether a deportation was lawful or justified are matters for the courts and policymakers not concert stages."

ӣ��Ƶ Digital has reached out to Musgraves' representatives for comment.

Meanwhile, Musgraves stood by her remarks on social media, taking to her Instagram Story to upload a post that read, "Kinda chic when kids don't face immigration court alone."

The singer also reposted a message shared by the Young Center's Instagram page, in which the organization expressed its gratitude to her.

"Thank you," the nonprofit wrote. "We appreciate your support of our work and mission to see unaccompanied immigrant children safe, free, and with their families."

Based in Chicago, the Young Center describes its work as pairing volunteers with attorneys and social workers to advocate for unaccompanied and separated immigrant children in government custody. Its website lists family unity, release from custody, fair proceedings and children's best interests among its priorities.

The nonprofit reported serving 1,975 children from 53 countries in 2024 and opening 1,388 new cases. Its 2025 annual report said children's average detention time increased from 30 to 198 days and requests for assistance from detained parents quadrupled from 2024.

Friday’s appeal extended Musgraves’ support for the charity. In April, resale platform Depop announced that 20 pieces from her wardrobe, including clothing from music videos and tours, would be sold in capsule drops. Women's Wear Daily reported that all proceeds would benefit the Young Center.

In announcing the sale, Musgraves described the beneficiary without discussing immigration enforcement.

"I also adore the fact that the sales are supporting a really beautiful cause," Musgraves said.

Musgraves also invited three brothers, ages 18, 14 and 12, to open three Texas shows in May after their family was released from ICE custody. The mariachi performers' family said they entered through the now-defunct CBP One appointment system in 2023 and sought asylum after fleeing violence in Mexico, KSAT reported.

DHS said the family entered illegally and had been released into the country by the Biden administration. Responding to the family’s detention, DHS said federal law required custody while its immigration claims were heard.

"The law requires illegal aliens who show up at a port of entry without valid entry to be detained while all their claims are heard. You can look it up in the statute," a DHS spokesperson told KSAT. Trump scores Supreme Court win on mail-in voting restrictions before midterms

In a 6-3 decision, the Supreme Court handed the Trump administration a victory on Monday, allowing it to enforce President Donald Trump’s "election integrity" executive order restricting mail-in voting ahead of the November midterms.

The high court lifted an injunction that had blocked the order in 23 states that challenged it after the administration appealed in July.

The U.S. Postal Service and Justice Department said they would immediately implement the revised mail-ballot restrictions after the ruling.

Most immediately, the ruling clears the path for the U.S. Postal Service to check its distribution of mail-in ballots against a list of citizens maintained by the Department of Homeland Security. But it’s also a significant political victory for the Trump administration as it has advocated against the widespread use of mail-in-voting, citing what it believes is a heightened vulnerability to tampering and voter fraud.

Most recently, Trump slammed what he called a suspiciously high volume of mail-in-ballots cast for Cynthia Raman in the 2026 LA mayoral race primaries.

"You know, they don’t have voting booths; everything’s by mail. I don’t think a Republican can win in California unless you pass the Save America Act," Trump told ӣ��Ƶ, referring to GOP legislation to narrow the scope of mail-in voting and voter-ID requirements.

"They’re going to have to get rid of mail-in voting."

Like many onlooking conservatives, Trump pointed out that, after election night, the vast majority of Democratic votes had been for Nithya Raman, creating a delayed outpouring of support.

ӣ��Ƶ Digital has not reviewed any particular case of election fraud tied to the LA mayoral race.

Even so, Trump’s original executive order looked to eliminate any ambiguity. Titled "Preserving and protecting the integrity of American elections," it directed federal agencies to compile citizenship-based lists of eligible voters and ordered the U.S. Postal Service to deliver mail-in ballots only to people appearing on those approved lists.

"Several Federal laws, including 18 U.S.C. 1015 and 611, prohibit foreign nationals from registering to vote or voting in Federal elections. Yet States fail adequately to vet voters’ citizenship, and, in recent years, the Department of Justice has failed to prioritize and devote sufficient resources for enforcement of these provisions," the executive order reads.

Where critics of the order saw a federal effort to dictate the terms of state-run elections, the court on Monday sided with the administration, stating that the way the executive order was made put requirements only on federal agencies.

In essence, the order didn’t put any new requirements on the states themselves.

"[It] directs the Secretary of Homeland Security to take appropriate action to create and distribute State Citizenship Lists. This provision is an internal directive from the President to a subordinate. It imposes no obligations on the States, so they ‘suffer no concrete harm from’ it, and without concrete harm, there is no standing," the court wrote.

Justices Sonia Sotomayor, Elena Kagan and Ketanji Brown Jackson dissented.

Notably, the court stipulated that the ruling narrowly addresses the injunction that had prevented its implementation and does not speak to the lawfulness of the order itself. Further legal challenges against the order may still come down the road.

NFL Sunday Ticket is no longer worth the price | Bobby Burack

You may have received an email over the past week about renewing or adding NFL Sunday Ticket, YouTube's exclusive package for out-of-market NFL games.

You may also have noticed the price. It is expensive. And each year, the NFL further reduces the package's value by expanding its national windows.

Let us explain.

Sunday Ticket does not include nationally televised games or games available in your local market. Subscribers do not receive Thursday Night Football, Sunday Night Football, or Monday Night Football. Nor does the package include the three or four games available locally across Fox and CBS during the 1 p.m. and 4:25 p.m. ET windows.

For example, viewers in Michigan cannot watch Lions games on Sunday Ticket because those games air locally on Fox or CBS.

We agree. The NFL's television schedule is unnecessarily complicated. And it's getting worse.

RESTAURANT ASSOCIATIONS URGE CONGRESS TO ACT AS NFL SUNDAY TICKET STREAMING SWITCH THREATENS BAR REVENUES

Netflix will carry five games this season: 49ers-Rams from Australia in Week 1 on Thursday night, the first Thanksgiving Eve matchup between the Packers and Rams, two Christmas Day games, and an unannounced Saturday game later in the season.

Yes, Thanksgiving Eve means the NFL will play on a Wednesday. And because Netflix will air a Thursday night game in Week 1, NBC will move its Patriots-Seahawks season opener also to a Wednesday, Sept. 9, 2026.

The NFL will then play four Friday games: Packers-Bears and Bills-Broncos on Netflix, Rams-Seahawks on Fox on Christmas Day, and Broncos-Steelers on Amazon Prime on Black Friday.

In total, the NFL will play six games on Wednesdays and Fridays this season, two days it long avoided (in part because of legal restrictions).

Further, nine of the league's 18 weeks will include an international game, most of which will air on NFL Network at 9:30 a.m. ET.

WATCHING THE NFL WILL COST MORE, REQUIRE MORE STREAMING SERVICES THAN EVER THIS SEASON

What does this have to do with Sunday Ticket?

Each time the NFL sells a new national window to a broadcaster, it removes a game that otherwise would have been part of the Sunday early or late-afternoon slate.

The result is fewer games on Sunday Ticket, but for a higher price.

YouTube lists the standard price for 2026-27 Sunday Ticket at $480. Subscribers can divide the cost into eight $60 monthly payments, but they must eventually pay in full. You cannot subscribe and unsubscribe by the month.

Most users can purchase it for less. The $480 price is misleading. It largely exists so the NFL can market lower prices as discounts.

New users can currently sign up for $240 a year. Most returning subscribers can renew for $336. YouTube TV subscribers can purchase the package for $234, though they must maintain their YouTube TV subscription throughout the NFL season.

Teachers, military members, veterans, first responders and medical workers can purchase Sunday Ticket for $198 per year through ID.me. Eligible students can get it for $119, though they can stream on only one device.

The price varies by subscriber. Still, Sunday Ticket lasts just four months. At any of those prices, it remains one of the most expensive streaming subscriptions available.

And because of the scheduling changes cited above, the number of games no longer justifies the cost. Again, most of the week's best matchups will air elsewhere.

At this point, Sunday Ticket might be most appealing for fans who live outside the market of their favorite team.

Then again, it may still depend on the team for which you root.

The following teams have have no traditional primetime games scheduled this season (this could change with late-season flexing): Arizona Cardinals, Tennessee Titans, Miami Dolphins, and Las Vegas Raiders have no traditional primetime games scheduled this season.

Sunday Ticket is the only way for fans of those teams to watch them weekly from a a different state.

By contrast, the Los Angeles Rams, Kansas City Chiefs, Buffalo Bills, Seattle Seahawks, Dallas Cowboys and Green Bay Packers each have at least six primetime games. In addition, Fox and CBS will likely feature them heavily in the 1 p.m. and 4:25 p.m. windows available to most of the country (so long as the local team is not airing at the same time on the same channel).

In sum, a Chiefs fan in North Carolina likely won't need Sunday Ticket to watch their team most weeks, a Titans fan in Arizona will.

The NFL got greedy. Sunday Ticket's diminished value is a consequence. And as the league continues to expand its national windows, demand for the package will decline.

North Carolina doctor accused of shooting 2 sisters in alleged interstate road rage attack

A North Carolina doctor was arrested Aug. 22 after he allegedly fired into a Jeep during an interstate road rage incident, wounding two sisters, ages 12 and 20, according to Virginia State Police.

Dr. Richard Thomas Arriviello, 61, of Charlotte, North Carolina, was driving north on Interstate 77 in his Mercedes-Benz around 8:50 a.m. when gunfire erupted about three miles north of the North Carolina-Virginia state line.

State police said in a press release that Arriviello fired into the moving Jeep, striking both sisters in the legs.

Both victims were airlifted to a hospital with injuries that were not considered life-threatening, according to police.

Arriviello then fled in his Mercedes-Benz, police said.

Troopers spotted and stopped the Mercedes-Benz about 15 miles away and took Arriviello into custody.

Arriviello faces several felony charges, including malicious shooting into an occupied vehicle, maliciously causing bodily harm to another with intent to maim and use of a firearm while committing a felony.

Arriviello remains jailed without bond at the New River Valley Regional Jail, officials told ӣ��Ƶ Digital. He is scheduled to appear in court Sept. 29.

State police have not said what led to the alleged road rage encounter or whether investigators recovered a firearm from Arriviello’s Mercedes-Benz.

The Jeep’s driver was also cited for reckless driving, but authorities did not identify the driver.

North Carolina Medical Board records show Arriviello has been licensed as an emergency medicine physician in the state since 2010 and has no public disciplinary actions listed against him.

‘Moderate’ Dem gubernatorial candidate embraced DEI budget tool, Green New Deal-style policies

Democratic socialist Francesca Hong lost Wisconsin’s Democratic gubernatorial primary earlier this month, but some of the progressive policies that define the party’s far-left flank may not have disappeared with her campaign entirely.

David Crowley, the Milwaukee County executive who defeated Hong after being cast as the more moderate choice, has overseen racial-equity budgeting, expanded the county’s equity bureaucracy and urged the Wisconsin attorney general to sue fossil fuel companies for environmental-related damages. Meanwhile, Crowley has also shared ground with Hong on taxing millionaires and ambitious carbon-neutrality goals.

"Milwaukee County is known for it's beer and brats, but unfortunately it's also the epicenter of David Crowley's budgetary boondoggles. Under Crowley's failed leadership, residents received their largest property tax hike in 15 years, paid higher sales taxes for everyday purchases, and saw millions of their hard-earned tax dollars set up to finance Crowley's Green New Deal 'Net Zero' scam for the county," Wisconsin native and Republican consultant Mark Bednar told ӣ��Ƶ Digital.

"In an era where voters are increasingly focused on the economy and their pocketbooks, Wisconsinites should ask themselves, do they really want to expand Crowley's gross mismanagement and liberal priorities to the whole state?" He continued. "I'm guessing a big Wisconsin 'heck no.'"

WISCONSIN DEMOCRATIC VOTERS CHALK SOCIALIST FRANCESCA HONG'S STUNNING LOSS UP TO ELECTABILITY CONCERNS

In a recent campaign ad, Crowley touted a record of "getting things done" and "practical bipartisan solutions," while Wisconsin Public Radio described him during the primary as a "mainstream Democratic alternative" to Hong.

CBS News called him a "moderate Democrat" after his primary victory, while Axios framed Crowley's upset as a potential revival for the Democratic Party’s center-left.

But, despite being cast as the more moderate alternative, Crowley has shared several significant policy positions with Hong. Crowley himself acknowledged the policy overlap during the primary, telling supporters that "there’s many things that everybody agrees on, right?" when discussing his differences with Hong, according to WISN 12’s "UpFront," while adding that there were also areas where the two "absolutely disagree."

Both have backed higher taxes on millionaires, a $20 minimum wage, expanded union rights and universal child care. Their climate agendas also contain a notable parallel – Hong campaigned on making Wisconsin carbon-neutral by 2050, while Crowley signed Milwaukee County’s plan to bring county operations to net-zero emissions by the same year.

AOC BLASTED AS TOO MODERATE BY MAOIST DSA FACTION AS 2028 BUZZ GROWS

Crowley’s record on DEI complicates his "moderate" image as well. It includes embedding a Racial Equity Budget Tool (REBT) into the state budgeting process. Milwaukee County describes the tool as a "structured racial equity lens" for departments to assess how budget decisions affect communities of color.

In his 2022 budget address, Crowley said all the Milwaukee County departments had "once again" used the tool and were asked what they would do with additional funding "to specifically address racial equity."

"Racism is a public health crisis in Milwaukee County," the county's 2024 budget stated. "The REBT is a structured racial equity lens for Milwaukee County departments to use to critically assess the impact of budget decisions on communities of color."

Crowley’s tenure as Milwaukee County executive also transformed the county’s Office on African American Affairs into a broader "Office of Equity," which grew the original office’s reach to "other communities of color, LGBTQ+ and people with varying abilities," while increasing accountability for the county’s existing racial-equity goals.

Climate policy has been another focus of Crowley’s tenure in Milwaukee. In April 2025, he signed Milwaukee County’s Climate Action 2050 plan, developed by his administration after the County Board adopted a carbon-neutrality goal in 2021. The plan seeks to bring county government operations to net-zero carbon emissions by 2050 — the same year Hong’s statewide climate agenda called for Wisconsin to become carbon-neutral.

Crowley also signed a 2022 resolution calling on Wisconsin’s attorney general to sue fossil-fuel companies and seek damages for environmental and climate harm in Wisconsin communities. And, in April, he signed legislation reaffirming Milwaukee County’s commitment to the principles and goals of the Paris Agreement amid federal climate-policy rollbacks.

Crowley’s campaign and Milwaukee County’s press office did not respond to ӣ��Ƶ Digital’s requests for comment on his record.

Rare signed Picasso print stolen from gallery turns up in vacant apartment years later

A signed Pablo Picasso etching stolen from a Wisconsin art gallery nearly a decade ago has been recovered after a Milwaukee landlord turned the artwork in to police, authorities said.

The original 1949 Picasso etching, titled "Torero," was brought into Milwaukee Police Department (MPD) District Four on Aug. 5, after the person who found it suspected it had been stolen, the MPD said.

An authenticator confirmed the next day that it was the same print reported stolen from a Milwaukee art gallery in the 700 block of North Jefferson Street on Feb. 16, 2018, police said.

"The Milwaukee Police Department is grateful that this community member recognized the etching print and did the right thing and returned it," the MPD said.

Milwaukee landlord Tim Dertz found the rare print by the renowned Spanish sculptor and painter while cleaning out a Bay View apartment after an eviction, WISN-TV reported.

Picasso died in 1973 at age 91.

"It was kind of in a weird spot hanging on a wall," Dertz told the news station. He said the artwork appeared to have been there for a long time because it had collected "tons of dust" across the top.

Milwaukee police told WISN the statute of limitations for theft and property crimes is generally six years, though the investigation remains open.

DeLind said his former business partner, who died in February, was devastated by the 2018 theft and called police every year on the anniversary of the crime to urge renewed publicity in hopes of finding the piece.

FOR COLLEGE FOOTBALL FANS, "NO FALL WEDDINGS" ISN'T A BIT OR A GIMMICK, IT'S A LIFESTYLE

Before we begin, a quick reminder that although college football normally means fall weather and mild temperatures, this is still the Florida panhandle in August, so most hikes will happen under some extreme heat conditions.

Dress and pack accordingly and make sure you are staying hydrated.

Believe me, there's no humidity like Florida humidity, and if you aren't careful, you'll end up in the ER on game day surrounded by college kids who went hard in a different direction.

With that out of the way, here are some of the best hikes Tally has to offer.

Alfred B. Maclay Gardens State Park / Lake Overstreet Trails

If you want the best overall hike in the Tallahassee area, this is the move.

Lake Overstreet has about five miles of multi-use trails through live oaks (a northern Florida staple), hills and ravines surrounding a secluded 144-acre lake.

The whole area looks a lot like southern Georgia with its hilly terrain, which can be a nice departure from the typically flat walks that the Sunshine State offers.

THE BEST OUTDOOR WEEKEND IN NORTHWEST GEORGIA DOESN’T REQUIRE 'ROUGHING IT' OR SLEEPING ON THE GROUND

Situated a few miles from downtown Tallahassee, Lake Overstreet offers a serene experience to take your mind off the stresses of a game week, and if you're so inclined, the nearby Lake Hall has kayak rentals available to add a little water action to your hike.

Miccosukee Canopy Road Greenway

Anyone traveling to Tallahassee from out-of-state needs to make the Miccosukee Canopy Road Greenway a must-see on their itinerary.

The scenery is so quintessential North Florida, with the giant oaks forming the canopy overhead that gives the trail its namesake and the rolling countryside is very evocative of the Deep South.

This is also a nice, relaxing walk for anyone not looking to overdo it while they are in town, as it's less strenuous than some of the more advanced surrounding trails.

If you're looking for something that screams rural Tally, give this one a try.

Lafayette Heritage Trail Park

For those hikers feeling more adventurous, Lafayette Heritage Trail Park offers a bit more trail time than the previous two on the list.

The woods and trail network make this a natural choice for both hikers and mountain bikers, though that phraseology feels a little silly in a flat state like Florida.

Nevertheless, bikers will find plenty to like about Lafayette Heritage Trail Park, and the views of the lake at sunrise and sunset are picturesque.

A special mention needs to be made for the wooden pedestrian bridge to the north of the lake that goes over the railroad tracks.

It looks like something straight out of Adventureland at Disney World and makes for a great photo op.

Munson Hills Off-Road Bike Trailhead

Perhaps the most "wild" of all the trails listed here, the Munson Hills Off-Road Bike Trailhead offers a more rugged approach to Tallahassee for those seeking more of a challenge.

A pine-forest landscape nestled against the Apalachicola National Forest region, this trail will give a stiff test to all but the most seasoned flatland hikers.

Munson Hills represents the less-manicured option for those who are looking for a trail that's more in tune with nature, but be sure to pack plenty of snacks and water, because this one is a doozy.

It's a little off the beaten path, sitting just south of the Tallahassee city limits, but that's just what we want from our nature hikes!

Lake Jackson Mounds State Park

Call it burying the lead if you want, but I saved the best trail for last.

Lake Jackson Mounds State Park is an absolute treasure, featuring the preserves of ancient Indigenous ceremonial mounds as well as a 0.75-mile interpretive trail past the site of an early-1800s grist mill plus a 2.2-mile nature trail.

It's basically a hike through hundreds of years of Tallahassee history.

A fair warning, though: according to the park's website, the boardwalk to the large mound remains closed.

Democrat rips Hasan Piker as 'hack who thrives on hate' over his warning to American Jews about Israel

Controversial far-left Twitch streamer Hasan Piker, who has become increasingly prominent in Democratic politics, is facing backlash from Rep. Hillary Scholten, D-Mich., over his remarks about American Jews' support for Israel that she characterized as "talk of violence" targeting Jewish Michigan state Sen. Jeremy Moss.

In a statement published Monday, Scholten said Piker was "a hack who thrives on hate, shock and awe because he lacks substance."

"Hasan Piker's talk of violence against American Jews, and directly naming a Michigan elected official, and future member of Congress, Jeremy Moss, is unacceptable. Full stop," Scholten's statement read. "We should all be calling out this disgusting rhetoric so it loses its grip on our politics once and for all. It has no place in Michigan, and no place in our country."

HASAN PIKER IS BECOMING THE 'FACE OF THE PROGRESSIVE MOVEMENT,' FORMER DEMOCRATIC OPERATIVE WARNS

In his response to Scholten's statement, Piker called Scholten an "Israel 1st congresswoman."

"if i was an israel 1st congresswoman with a possible cheating scandal with a republican in the state, i wouldn’t spend so much time vying for the spotlight by actively defaming a prominent antizionist voice to harm the dem senate majority chances over a 90/10 issue," Piker wrote on X.

Piker, who holds a large social media following, has been particularly visible in Michigan this election cycle. He backed Democratic Senate candidate Abdul El-Sayed, who defeated Rep. Haley Stevens in a primary earlier this month. El-Sayed was criticized for appearing with Piker during his campaign, with some saying that the streamer's rhetoric was too extreme.

Scholten backed Stevens last month, calling her a "smart, capable, and common-sense leader." She later praised Michigan Gov. Gretchen Whitmer for endorsing Stevens.

El-Sayed also responded to Piker's comments, and while he did not condemn the streamer outright, he denounced antisemitism and rhetoric that puts the Jewish community in danger.

"I believe all Americans deserve the right to advocate for what they believe without fear of violence. This is particularly true for communities that have been intimidated for their beliefs in the past," El-Sayed wrote.

EL-SAYED DISAVOWS HASAN PIKER'S 9/11 COMMENTS BUT DECRIES 'CANCEL CULTURE'

In his statement, El-Sayed stressed that Piker did not speak for his campaign, writing that, "nobody speaks for this campaign besides me and my campaign spokespeople."

In addition to politicians, Piker was also criticized by Jewish organizations.

In a statement to ӣ��Ƶ Digital, the Jewish Federation of Detroit said that "Hasan Piker’s talk of violence against Jewish Americans while displaying a picture of a Michigan lawmaker who is Jewish is repugnant and antisemitic."

"We call on all responsible leaders to condemn this extremist, attention-seeking conduct which divides Americans, foments hate, and makes our Jewish community less safe," the Jewish Federation of Detroit's statement read.

The American Jewish Committee (AJC) also said on Monday that by using an image of Moss, "Piker put a target on the backs of Sen. Moss, Jewish candidates and officeholders, and American Jews alike."

"Blaming Jews for the antisemitism directed at them is itself antisemitism," AJC wrote on X. "Every public official who has shared his platform now has a choice: denounce this and walk away, or be complicit. There is no third option."

During his Aug. 20 stream, Piker seemed to warn American Jews against supporting Israel, saying that doing so could lead to violence against them.

"People don't f--- with Israel any longer. And if Jews in America keep putting this idea out there that they're singularly invested in Israel, eventually someone will come around and take action not against Israel, mind you, but against American Jews," Piker said.

When he made the comment, Piker had an image of Moss, who is running to fill Stevens' seat, in his background.

Piker's remarks came amid a controversy over an audio clip circulating online in which Moss purportedly said that the "entire purpose" of his congressional campaign was to ensure America's continued support for Israel.

However, the Michigan Democrat said that the clip was fabricated, calling it "a manipulated and unsourced audio, with things I never did and never would say."

"We are in a dangerous era of disinformation. Circulating a lie because it affirms your bias or belief is equally bad whether it comes from the left or the right. We all have a choice not to spread fabricated images, videos, and audio about candidates and campaigns. We all have a role in stopping the erosion of our democracy," Moss said about the controversy over the audio clip.

The longtime "America’s Got Talent" judge will miss weeks of filming as he prepares to undergo a medical procedure related to lingering back issues, ӣ��Ƶ Digital has learned. The show is in the process of scheduling guest judges to fill in during Cowell's absence.

TMZ reported the procedure is routine and tied to Cowell’s longstanding back problems, rather than a new or serious health concern.

Cowell has struggled with back issues since his electric-bike accident in 2020.

The TV personality admitted he immediately knew he had broken his back after falling off the bike.

Cowell was later injured in another e-bike incident in 2022. At the time, a source told ӣ��Ƶ Digital that Cowell had "crashed to the ground" and "broke his arm."

WNBA reportedly says Enes Kanter Freedom and Royce White are ineligible, but won't explain why

The WNBA has apparently decided Enes Kanter Freedom and Royce White aren't eligible to play in the league.

Now it needs to say, on the record, how it reached that decision.

WNBA SILENT AFTER CAITLIN CLARK SAYS LEAGUES SHOULD DETERMINE WHO SHOULD BE INCLUDED IN WOMEN'S SPORTS

Front Office Sports reported Monday that unnamed league sources said Freedom and White, two former NBA players who have declared for the 2027 WNBA Draft, are ineligible.

The sources also called their declarations "simply publicity stunts" and said the league would not give oxygen to efforts intended to mock it or demean others.

Fine.

What makes them ineligible?

That's the only question that matters, and the WNBA still won't answer it.

The WNBA's answer only creates more questions

Freedom and White are obviously making a point. Nobody thinks either man is seriously preparing to spend next season trying to earn a WNBA roster spot.

But calling it a stunt doesn't make the point go away.

The WNBA's collective bargaining agreement says only players who are women are eligible to play in the league. As the FOS report itself acknowledges, the CBA does not define "woman" or include language about "gender identity" or "sex assigned at birth."

That's a problem for the WNBA, and it's not a problem that was created by Freedom or White.

If the league has now determined that two males who say they identify as women do not satisfy the eligibility standard, it should be able to explain the standard it used.

Does the WNBA define "woman" based on biological sex? If so, say it.

Is self-identification insufficient? If so, say that too.

Does the league use a different set of criteria for someone who identifies as transgender? If it does, players and prospective draft entrants deserve to know those criteria before the 2027 WNBA Draft.

The league has reportedly already made the call. It says neither Freedom nor White can play.

Now it needs to explain its rule.

The WNBA doesn't get to make that determination anonymously, dismiss the challenge as a publicity stunt and pretend there is nothing to discuss.

OutKick asked the WNBA to confirm whether the FOS report reflects its official position, identify the criteria used to determine Freedom and White are ineligible, define "woman" under Article XIII, Section 1(a) of the CBA and say whether the league will publish written guidance before the draft.

The WNBA didn't respond to our request before publication.

It did, however, have unnamed sources tell Front Office Sports that Freedom and White are ineligible.

Front Office Sports was a safe place to deliver the claim

Nobody can prove the WNBA chose Front Office Sports because it expected an easy story. But Salao's coverage gives the league every reason to believe it would get one.

Earlier this month, FOS described OutKick as an outlet that had "glommed onto" the issue and ran a subhead about outlets that "pop in to write about transgender issues." The reporter didn't write that as a simple credential story. He adopted the league's premise that OutKick was trying to manufacture a controversy.

FOS also used the Sky's credential decision to make OutKick look unreliable.

It reported that, "as of Friday morning," a Sky source said no decision had been made, then emphasized that OutKick had not shared a rejection email. The Sky denied the request at approximately 3:45 p.m. ET. FOS published at 5:46 p.m. and updated at 8:07 p.m. without telling readers that the denial had already happened.

Maybe that was all a coincidence. It would mean the Sky source had no idea Friday morning how the request would be resolved, nobody told FOS when it was denied and no one at FOS thought to check before it published or updated.

That's a lot to believe.

When OutKick reported something inconvenient for the league, FOS wanted documentation, competing sources and context about OutKick's motives.

But FOS's own report says the CBA does not define the central term, then prints an anonymous claim that Freedom and White are ineligible without explaining how the WNBA reached that conclusion.

The story gives readers no indication the reporter asked the league to define "woman," identify the eligibility criteria it applied to Freedom and White or explain whether self-identification would ever be sufficient. And if he did ask those questions, the story should have told readers that the WNBA wouldn't answer them.

It did neither.

Instead, readers got the WNBA's conclusion and its "publicity stunt" label, not the reporting needed to support either one.

For weeks, the WNBA said there were no immediate eligibility matters to address. Then unnamed league sources told Front Office Sports that Freedom and White are ineligible.

That is an eligibility determination.

The league reportedly made it. It now needs to explain the rule behind it.

President Donald Trump on Monday marked the back-to-school season by promoting his administration’s school choice agenda and pledging to put parents "back in charge" of where and how their children are educated.

Speaking at a White House event alongside Education Secretary Linda McMahon, students, parents and educators, Trump said his administration is working to expand school choice while removing what he called "far left extremism" from classrooms.

"We're putting the parents back in charge," Trump said. "They're the ones that love our children. They're the ones that should be in charge."

Trump argued that despite how much the U.S. spends on education, student outcomes should be stronger and families need more schooling options.

"We want every parent to have the power to send their child to a high-quality school that shares their values. It's so important," Trump said.

The president highlighted the Education Freedom Tax Credit, which beginning in 2027, will offer taxpayers a credit of up to $1,700 for eligible donations to scholarship-granting organizations.

Those organizations can provide scholarships for education-related expenses, including private school tuition, tutoring, school fees and classroom supplies. The funds can also benefit students attending public schools.

The White House said nearly 52 million students could be eligible for the Education Freedom Tax Credit.

Trump also highlighted changes to 529 education savings plans that allow families to withdraw up to $20,000 annually for K-12 expenses, doubling the previous limit.

Caleb Griffith, a North Carolina father of five who said his family includes two children with special needs, said the Education Freedom Tax Credit will give his children "access to the services they need to be successful in the most formative years of their lives."

"I want to tell you, we only get one chance to educate our children, and our children are the future of America," Griffith said.

An Oklahoma-based Southwest Airlines flight attendant was found dead outside her hotel in Hawaii.

A spokesperson for the Honolulu Police Department told ӣ��Ƶ Digital that an unattended death investigation was launched for 50-year-old Jenny Lupton, whose family says fell off the 24th floor of her hotel in Honolulu, Hawaii.

According to News9, Lupton's family was told by the Honolulu Department of the Medical Examiner that she fell from her balcony off the 24th floor, as she was staying at the Hilton Hawaiian Village in Waikiki.

Manhunt for Massachusetts woman ends with grim discovery week after police officer husband found dead at home

The body of a woman believed to be Karen Solomon, the missing wife of a veteran Worcester, Massachusetts, police officer found dead last week, was discovered in city woods Monday with a handgun nearby, authorities said.

Worcester Police Chief Paul Saucier said two Fairlawn Rehabilitation Hospital employees discovered the body while walking near the facility at about 12:40 p.m.

"Upon further examination, we believe this person to be Karen Solomon," Saucier said at a news conference, stressing that the identification is preliminary and still must be confirmed by the medical examiner.

Police said they believe Solomon died by suicide, Saucier said, adding that preliminary evidence showed she had a gunshot wound. Investigators recovered a handgun near her body, but Saucier said it was not a service weapon.

Police responded to the residence at about 5:28 a.m. after receiving a report of a person down and found the off-duty Worcester police officer dead inside, authorities said. His cause and manner of death have not been released.

Authorities initially said Karen Solomon was a suspect they wanted to question about what happened at the home and warned that she was believed to be armed and dangerous.

The woman’s body was found about 0.6 miles from an area where police had released video showing Solomon walking behind an animal clinic, Saucier said. The Coes Pond area and park, which police had been searching since the first day of the investigation, spans about 90 acres.

Saucier said investigators cannot yet say when Solomon died. Police did not receive any reports of a gunshot being heard Monday, he said.

The chief also pushed back on speculation surrounding domestic violence. The case was described as domestic under Massachusetts law because it involved family or household members, he said, but added that the Solomon family had no history of domestic abuse.

The Solomon family said the "nightmare of the past week" had left them "heartbroken and rudderless" in a statement read by Saucier.

"The compassion, dedication and empathy of all the agencies involved have given us light in face of darkness," the family said, thanking local, state and federal law enforcement agencies that joined the search. "You have given us comfort knowing that you were working on our behalf for us."

Police have disclosed few details about what happened inside the residence, citing the ongoing investigation.

The New England Police Benevolent Association identified Kurt Solomon as a 31-year veteran of the Worcester Police Department and remembered him as an "incredibly dependable officer, colleague and friend."

A Detroit pastor who delivered a prayer at President Donald Trump’s inauguration says Christians in Muslim-majority Dearborn, Michigan, have privately told him they are afraid to publicly express their faith, while accusing local officials of giving Muslim residents preferential treatment under a "two-tiered justice system."

"Right now, the city officials in Dearborn specifically, they are giving Muslims preferential treatment," Lorenzo Sewell, senior pastor of 180 Church in Detroit, told ӣ��Ƶ Digital in an interview Monday.

"Now, how do I know that?" Sewell asked. "This is how I know that. Being a Black man in the city of Detroit, we go to Dearborn. We know that the police know how to enact justice in Dearborn. They know how to pull you over. They know that if they catch you shoplifting, we've had Black women that tried to elude the police and lost their lives in the city of Dearborn."

In a statement, Dearborn Police Chief Issa Shahin said, "Our officers met a challenging and rapidly evolving situation with the professionalism this community expects, keeping everyone safe, protecting the constitutional rights of those who came to be heard, and allowing the City Council to complete its business. I could not be prouder of them."

"Number two, halal meat. If you go to a public school, you are literally eating meat that's sacrificed to idols, because, according to Sharia law, that's what — that's a lawful meat."

"And I believe the most concerning to me is the call to prayer," he added. "There is no other place in the world that you can go and tell that country, although you are a majority Christian country, you can't go anywhere else in the nation and tell that country they have to change the way they express their religious beliefs."

The certificate for the halal meat, partially in Arabic, reads in part, "We certify that the food processing facility of Saad Wholesale, Inc. in Detroit, MI, USA has been inspected and approved by our Islamic organization for processing, packing, and labeling of Halal Meat & Poultry Products by applying our procedures according to the Islamic Rites."

"I see the city council upholding Sharia law through things like the call to prayer, through things like halal meat, through having more Arab writing than they do actually English, by having the chief of police talk more about protecting the rules of Islam and Islamic leaders instead of protecting the rights of all Americans," Sewell continued.

"So you can see clearly when someone speaks freely, they can be attacked, and it'd be justified," he added. "I can give you a clear example. My wife had her life threatened. We had the guy's number, we had his address, we had everything, and the lieutenant did absolutely nothing. So, that's how you can see a two-tier justice system."

"I'm having people say, 'I'm with you, but I'm afraid to say it,'" he continued. "'I'm with you, but I'm afraid to be by you.' 'I'm with you —' This is how we know we are in a two-tiered system because, in a Christian nation, we're afraid to be Christians."

"There is no evidence of preferential treatment for any religious group. These accusations are unfounded, and I challenge anyone to present evidence otherwise," Sareini continued.

"Dearborn is home to approximately 30 churches and 10 mosques," he added. "Most recently, pastors from throughout Dearborn spoke at a press conference and publicly confirmed that people of different faiths live together peacefully in Dearborn, without the conflict being alleged."

There's a widespread assumption that parity is the greatest achievement any sports league can have. Nobody wants to see elite teams dominate, year in and year out, the thinking goes.

This appreciation for parity is frequently referenced as one of the explanations for the NFL's total and complete ratings domination. Though this parity is curiously never impacted by the fact that Patrick Mahomes or Tom Brady has won the Super Bowl in seven of the last 12 years, despite Brady having retired three years ago.

Still, if parity is what fans want, boy should they love the American League standings in 2026.

DESPITE COMPLAINTS ABOUT OTHER SPORTS, THE NFL HAS BECOME THE MOST PREDICTABLE LEAGUE IN AMERICA

We're barreling toward September and the end of the 2026 regular season, with most teams having just 30–32 games remaining on their schedules. And this year's AL, particularly the AL West, is on track to make a historic, embarrassing, type of history.

Since the founding of Major League Baseball, there's never been a team in a full season to reach the postseason with a losing record. Yet with, again, just over a month's worth of games remaining, there are only four teams in the AL with a winning record. Three of them are in the same division. It gets worse.

Then there's the Detroit Tigers, who gave up on their season and traded Tarik Skubal to the Dodgers, are only 3.5 games back, despite a 61-69 record. Impressively, even the 58-74 Kansas City Royals are "only" 7.5 games out of a wild card spot after winning eight in a row.

Running away with the best record in the AL is poor, downtrodden, small market Tampa Bay Rays, at 77-53, but between the fourth best record, the low payroll Chicago White Sox at 68-62, and the Tigers in 12th, the winning percentage gap is just five percentage points. Nine teams in the AL are projected to finish with between 77-83 wins. You want parity? Boy has baseball delivered parity.

11 teams in the AL have at least a 12% chance of reaching the playoffs, per Fangraphs. The Mariners have a 35% chance of reaching the playoffs with their current record sitting at 62-69. Hilariously, again, per Fangraphs, the Astros have a 16% chance of clinching a first-round bye with a losing record. Oh, and they just mutually agreed to part ways with their general manager, Dana Brown, because the team has been so underwhelming this year.

Mid to small market teams in the NL have been more committed to higher salaries and more talent, like the Arizona Diamondbacks and San Diego Padres. Even when organizations, like the Blue Jays, have committed to trying to win, disappointing seasons from star players like Vladimir Guerrero Jr. have led to underwhelming records.

All these elements have combined to create a scenario where we could go from not a single team making the playoffs with a losing record in a full season, to multiple teams making it in the same season. Wild. And embarrassing.

But that all highlights the underlying truth about modern baseball: the gaps between teams just aren't that big. Yes, the Dodgers have vacuumed up talent. They also just went 2-11 against the Red Sox, Cubs, and Brewers. Advancements in pitch design, creation, and data has compressed the gulf between the best pitchers in baseball and the middle class.

EXCLUSIVE: From agents being followed home and harassed to dealing with riots and local police refusing to assist, ICE Los Angeles Field Office Director Thomas Giles gave ӣ��Ƶ Digital an inside look at the daily risks of conducting operations in one of America’s largest sanctuary cities.

ӣ��Ƶ Digital accompanied Giles and a team of ICE officers on an immigration enforcement operation in the Los Angeles area early Thursday morning. In an interview from inside his vehicle during the operation, Giles emphasized that while "it's not going to shut us down and stop us," California’s sanctuary policies put both his agents and the community at risk.

"The sanctuary policies definitely impact our operations in terms of it'd be a lot easier for us to have that transfer of custody in a secure environment," he explained. "So, what it does for us is it sends our officers out into the community, putting our officers at risk and other community members at risk to go out and try to apprehend this individual."

ӣ��Ƶ Digital witnessed ICE arrest six illegal immigrants Thursday morning, including one who had been convicted of assault with a baseball bat and another who had been convicted of illegally re-entering the U.S. multiple times.

Giles explained that because of ongoing litigation in California, ICE officers are not allowed to knock on a target’s door or even set foot on the area surrounding the property. This complicates enforcement by forcing officers to apprehend targets in public spaces or through potentially dangerous vehicle stops.

He said that "before we had all these sanctuary policies … we were picking up hundreds of people a day at the local jails and bringing them in and processing them." Now, local law enforcement "can't even work with us," which he said "is definitely a big, huge public safety threat."

As an example, Giles pointed to one of the operation’s targets, 20-year-old Honduran national Julio Alberto Aroca-Rodriguez, whom local police had arrested the week before for assault with a deadly weapon using a baseball bat. Aroca-Rodriguez entered the U.S. at an unknown date and location and has been subject to a removal order since 2019. Local authorities declined to honor ICE’s request to hold Aroca-Rodriguez and released him.

When ICE officers encountered Aroca-Rodriguez on Thursday, they also detained four other "collaterals" identified as illegal immigrants. After making the arrests, the officers quickly relocated because a crowd of anti-ICE agitators had begun to form.

Giles described the treatment of ICE law enforcement officers by many California politicians, the media and members of the public as "degrading to the work that the men and women of ICE do."

Despite this, Giles praised his officers as Americans who "love this country" and "want to support the Constitution."

"It’s a complete disgrace that Pencil-Neck Adam Schiff is willing to trash the United States of America during its historic 250th birthday celebrations simply because he hates President Trump," said White House spokesman Davis Ingle.

"The great people of California deserve better," Ingle said.

Former electronics executive Sam Antar also responded to the senator, saying the lawmaker "apparently didn’t bother checking who actually paid for the race before blaming Trump for ‘more taxpayer money spent’."

"Schiff saw Trump, started typing, and skipped the part where you check the facts first. That’s how you end up volunteering for your own Community Note," Antar said.

Conservative commentator "Bad Hombre" replied by posting an image of then-President Joe Biden posing with attendees at a White House lawn gala featuring transgender and LGBT activists.

"The race was privately funded by Penske/IndyCar, pencil neck," Hombre said.

"But now that we’re on the topic of taxpayer-funded events, why were you cool with forcing taxpayers to spend $1.3 million on this?"
