Details about the car remain under wraps, but rumor has it the production version of the P1 will cost $1.5 million, and come with a flywheel-based hybrid powertrain delivering nearly 1,000 hp combined. Its styling shows a strong family resemblance to the company's current as well as its legendary 242 mph F1 of 1992, still considered by many to be the greatest sports car of all time.![p1rear]()
Grabbing the top speed title isn't the goal of the P1, but get used to this view. McLaren promises it will be the quickest production car on the track, its handling likely to be enhanced by the sorts of active suspension and aerodynamics employed on the MP4-12C. Sales are expected to begin in about a year.
