In connection with the annual Salon Prive concours, the UK's Royal College of Art asked students to design cars of the future based on some of the most sought-after classics of today. A collection of 11 finalists will be unveiled at the event in September, but here's a sneak peak at where we may be headed.

The Type 35 was one of the most successful road and racing cars from 1924-1931 and this proposal taps into the old-time simplicity of the original with features that included laced together body panels, slotted hood and Bugatti's horse collar grille.

Playing off the name of the original, this Rolls Royce Opera features a menacing front fascia and unique round doors that looks like it would provide passengers the most dramatic red carpet entrance of all time.

Lamborghini turns 50 this year, and the 350 GT was the car that started it all in 1963. This concept gives the coupe's long-hood profile an edgy update that appears to be draped in a sheet.
